I don't see the point to it. Just more junk for people with too much money to waste. Now, as well as people, we are going to put dogs out of work. The guy is walking along the street saying "look at me everybody."

its the beginning of an age where we can create robots that can accompany us in new ways. Seeing this robot dog on the street is just a silly example, but imagine this same dog being able to support people in natural disasters, space, underwater, etc. Also for people who are afraid of dogs or allergic to animals in general. It's a new form of interaction. It's not meant to exchange the old, just to expand it for others.

It’d be fun, interesting and even useful to add a ‘voice’ to the robot - a bark, human speech, lion’s roar, police siren (etc), machine gun (sound!), music…
