Bet it would be a no brainer in the circus 👀
@RopeDrink
@RopeDrink 20 күн бұрын
The choice hinges on what type of support you prefer. Outside of the circus, they're 99.99% identical, hence so many points were treated equally. The rest boils down to minor circus changes, trinkets, lore, and equipment. Personally, as a fan of speed-stacking side-arm and heal-stacking bandages, I would rather have the Musketeer.
@Diogee
@Diogee 20 күн бұрын
@@RopeDrink while you make some nice points. Arby is vastly superior in the circus. When it comes to that DLC nobody knows more than me. Flare alone makes her the better choice.
@RopeDrink
@RopeDrink 19 күн бұрын
As you say, but this is a stylized battle considering lore, equipment, overall comp-stats -- and -- variations of the circus (in a 1v1 scenario). The ability to remove more with her flare doesn't move the needle as much in this vacuum, compared to a normal in-game day of Circus 4v4. However, it is precisely why ARB got certain points over MUS.
@Diogee
@Diogee 19 күн бұрын
@@RopeDrink I see what you mean. If you are comparing her to the normal game. But I was specifically saying the circus and why she has way more value for a turn based economy. While a healing buff isn't gonna save your team. I scale the value of a hero on what they can provide for a team tho in a 1v1 the arby gets the upper hand due to the 5% prot she has. In a 1v1 it would be buckshot vs Bola which is the same in dmg value.
@RopeDrink
@RopeDrink 19 күн бұрын
Again, it's not about the normal game or how they function there. Outside of the Circus, they are 99.99% identical, so this video takes normal stats, circus stats, their statistics across all modes, their lore, and their equipment into consideration. If they were in the sequel, I would also consider how they function in that as well. In short, Composite ARB vs Composite MUS via a stylized 1v1, which doesn't reflect how they work from a strictly mechanical basis in a specific in-game mode, such as the value of ARB or MUS in a BC 4v4. For that, I'd do a proverbial tier-list, or something along those lines.

She's the queen of healing... in a game where it's better to simply NOT take damage. She's still a very solid hero -- projection, stun, best heal in the game, average health and so-so speed, but apart from being the best health-based safety net, you're better off taking someone else. On the flip-side, Plague Doctor is still the most busted hero in the game in terms of meta, and even in battle-edit format, she's doing most of the work for the team. Crusader is an entire team merged into a single slot - the ultimate flex pick. Highwayman is a good choice when you want mobility and good targeting above all else (along with decent bleeds, camping, and what-have-you), but in terms of sheer damage alone, others can do that better. All four together make a highly stable generalist team - a really good starting squad that can comfortable dunk the entire campaign by themselves - but there are plenty of better (and worse) compositions.

 @RopeDrink Yeah, couldn't agree more, tbh. PD is great for stuns. 1 of 2 best heroes for stun imo (Alongside with BH). In terms of blight she is handsdown best with DOT, BUT the Shieldbreaker!.. Well, her blight IS weeker, she deals an insane amount of dmg immidietly, and THEN she also blights (Adder's is REALLY good, trust me (Tho you can't spam it)) Personally I favoured a team like so: PD -> HWM -> Crus -> SB. That a great dance team. SB goes first with cleave blight or Adder's and puts Crus in 1 HWM naturally goes second and duelist's, putting SB in 3 (Crus and PD are stunning) SB starts to Pierce spam and HWM shoots down what's left

@@miku1156 Best stuns in the game and best blights in the game at the second highest baseline speed in the game, all with good accuracy and broken trinkets. Simply taking her along will dilute a tremendous amount of content, so long as you keep her in prime position. Unsurprisingly, she's just as bonkers in the sequel. For the record, all of my edits consider both DD1 + DD2, so even though some of the edits use DD2's graphics, they're based on both games (lore, mechanics, stats, etc), so you may enjoy some of the other edits even if you're not playing the sequel.

It lacks stuns because they outright crippled the previous game. Now, stuns typically involve combos, items, or limited skills, and that's perfectly fine - because we now have legitimate gods-honest tanking, combat items, pets/coach gear, more camping flex, an extra skill-per-hero, superior trinket abilities, hero paths, and ultimately, far more power and utility across the board. Plague Doctor is a brain-dead S-Tier in both games, and it's not close.

@RopeDrink
@RopeDrink Ай бұрын
Mark being an insufficient strategy doesn't make Houndmaster bad. Just don't use Mark. HM can hit all positions from 3/4 places on the board. If up front, he can do that while providing one of the best ST stuns in the game. If played at the back, he can soothe the entire team over time. He is one of 2.5/18 heroes with Guard, has one of the best self-heals in the game, has the best Mark in the game (if you care for it), and one of the best AoE's in the game -- all at average speed, damage, and health -- with an on-demand steroid (biscuits) and excellent camping skills. HM was once the strongest hero in the game (until the DLCs and patches started dropping). Since then, he's been relegated to really, really good, and is still one of the best overall generalists in the game by a wide margin. Meanwhile, Shield Breaker is hands-down the best (raw) projector in the game, but if you have her, chances are high that all you'll be doing is spamming Pierce 24/7. Her camping is niche and diluted by the need to waste a round of combat buffs on 50/50 potential snakes (until you clear the 3/3/2 battles per tier and collect all trinkets). She's a great hero, but being better at all-out damage (and HM better at support) doesn't magically overrate HM, who can do the same general principle as her while covering himself and the team much better -- in a game all about covering gaps and squashing risks.
@miku1156
@miku1156 Ай бұрын
@@RopeDrink Okay, I RLY didn't want it to be a conteast, but here we are 1) You can't compare WM's reach with SB's. Not only she can fix her an other's position with pierce, she does more damage that HM AND SB has the highest crit chance IN THE GAME alongside with GR, Arb and Occ (I think). Pierce has ACC of 110, while HM sits on 105 and it IS critical when targeting that backline and 5 ACC is a huge difference in this game. Bleed on Hound's is not gonna cut it and he loses on: damage, crit and ACC. SB is also faster then HM (tho not by much 8 against 9), but still worth mentioning. So, this is win for SB. You might argue for treats, but.... eh?.. Okay?.. It is a condition and limited resource, but if you insist, yeah HM can skyrocket in 2 fights in the whole dungeon 2) SB is indeed lacking in supportive abilities. That is why I can't compare her to HM. I think of HM as a support with an excellent guard and stun (that stress heal is garbage, because no stun). HM is not about damage, but about sustainability. SB is a beast with HUGE blights and I assure you, you DO NOT spam pierce. Adders deals more damage AND blight's target. In sum it is 9-18 + 15 dmg (24-33) and it simply DESTROYS frontline, like giant with no PROT. But even tho SB is not about support, she STILL has expose, which is HUGELY underrated. It basically works as a stun because it hurts target's speed SO much - most of the heroes are likely to go first. It is unreliable, but it also buffs all team's crit chance by 10%, and it is big. 3) Who cares about what was before DLCs? Now HM is a reliable hero, but arguably NOT the best. 4) Let's talk about nightmares... They are... A thing, yeah. But SB gets a free buff when all of them are done. how about it, ey? Also she can be a chunky tank with a Spectral and Curboili, giving her 56 HP AND she still has a block (Leper's numbers), tho she cannot guard, it is a week spot, i guess. 5) I never said HM is bad (tho I totally despise him and Helion). She is a consistent and reliable hero. But after 500 hours in DD I found myself not using him much (Helion is another topic, she is the worse for me (but, well, preferences)) 6) U mentioned cleave on HM? Well, SB does ALOT more dmg and applies the same DOT, while having MUCH higher crit rate (I admit that HM has better bleed with that extra 10% chance of applying 140% vs 150%) 7) Puncture existence. It destroys enemy's positioning, brings those goblet skellies upfront (and others), breaks guard, debuffs SPD, fixes your positioning, deals okay dmg and has good ACC. This skill along make SB top tier So, HM is support with damaging capabilities. SB is DD and DOT with (some mere) debuffs. They are built different, and it is unvise to compare them.... But in the end I am picking SB over HM 9 times out of 10
@RopeDrink
@RopeDrink Ай бұрын
@@miku1156 In your own words, you despise HM, and I see you focus a lot on 'damage', perhaps the 5th most important thing in the game if you're being generous. It's perfectly fine to like/hate heroes, but it doesn't change the fact HM has remained one of the best generalist choices since his debut - and certainly not overrated. You said "You can't compare HM's reach with SB's", yet I never directly compared anything at all. It is an inarguable fact that HM can hit 4/4 from 3/4 + 4/4 positions while providing self-sustain, stuns, guard, mark, cleave, stress-healing, etc -- and his damage is perfectly serviceable even when you ignore mark completely, not to mention excellent camping. That's what I said, without, say, comparing "Rush" to "Pierce". Yes, I mentioned HM has Cleave - without comparing it to SHB's. She can ONLY use hers in R1 and pushes herself backwards, so if you wish to spam it, you'll need to build around it much like Point Blank shot -- hence it can do slightly more damage than HM's. Meanwhile, he can spam his from literally anywhere with absolutely no requirement or preamble, not to mention bleeds having more synergies through sheer volume alone, and a higher chance of application by your admission. Pure damage in and of itself is only ever one cog in the wheel. Again, I never made any direct comparisons - just loose descriptions of packaging. It's ironic to see the downplay of biscuits and the up-play of nightmares. One is a 2x guaranteed consumable steroid per dungeon, and the other are limited 50/50 encounters (3/3/2 capped - solely for trinkets). The encounters are preset, so you can learn them and use buffs to your advantage, which I advocate very often on the forum, but if those limited buffs are a selling point, then what are biscuits? They are a 2x guaranteed steroids (per dungeon) that does not involve RNG-based battles or eating 1/4 ticks of your camping buffs to secure stress reduction and average trinkets, turning him into an on-demand menace whenever you need it. In a game where good play already makes it extremely difficult to walk out with more than 0 stress, a HM can help you via the most potential reduction in the game. The nightmare buffs can help, sure, but they are RNG, finite, and are mostly just to earn trinkets. Cuirboilli? Speed is infinitely more valuable than damage, and fast teams take less damage overall, so at best, you're making a mostly negative trade at the expense of precious trinket slots most of the time. However, trinkets are a completely different discussion altogether - with HM being perfectly fine on that front, and not requiring nightmares to achieve them. Yes, SHB has plenty of solid buttons. That was never in question. For anything else, feel free to talk to me on the DD forums, which is a lot easier than KZfaq when it comes to this sort of thing. Both of them are fantastic heroes.

@@RopeDrink I compared SB to HM only because it was the whole idea of this Short. I mean, you literally made a comparison. I never said HM is bad and by any means he's not. It's just a meter of preferences. I find HM lacking in dmg and ACC. Dog is also truly struggling with enemy's with high PROT with a low dmg DOT, making him a questionable pick for Ruins, Weald and Courtyard. SB is a hard character to start. She becomes viable after 2lvl, when ahe gets +2 spd, dot on cleave and overall big stat ups. Before that she is an F-tier hero, being VERY understated frontline. In late game she's just a monster, after nightmares are gone and dot has 2 points instead of 1. Btw, she gets a free buff after every camp, it is not random. In the end, these are 2 different heroes with their own purposes. I enjoyed our little conversation, thank you)))

@@miku1156 HM is perfectly fine in the ruins - as are all the other bleeders - and as said, the battles are random, not the buff. It's a literal 50/50 roll to see if you even get the fight, and then you have to win - all for a finite bonus (3/3/2 in total), which is great, but nothing good play doesn't already do by itself - and a requirement of getting her trinkets, most of which are so-so and pale compared to non-class alternatives. Once again, heavy emphasis on damage, which is around 5th in priority in the game - particularly when abusing stuns, with HM having one of the best ST's in the game on top of good self-sustain for that role. Alternatively, blanket stress-heal with the most overall potency, guarding, one of the best AoE's, DoT synergy, and good overall damage and health. It's fine to like/dislike X or Y hero, but again, that doesn't change the fact that HM is one of the best generalist flex-picks in the game, and has been since 2015, so he's certainly not overrated, and that's the only real point of contention here. SHB is also fantastic - but as a specialized damage dealer. Thanks to her projection and speed, you are best off spamming Pierce rather than doing anything else most of the time - which is perfectly fine. All roles have their time and place, and even a barebones SHB is very strong, but in a game all about squashing risks and covering gaps, HM is more universally useful. As for this edit, preference has no bearing, and it's not a direct comparison between skills. It is a weight-up of stats, mechanics, and lore within the franchise to determine elements that go beyond what we're talking about. Even heroes like Antiquarian - designed to be weaker in combat - punches above her weight in this format. They are fun to make - and as evidenced here, they can lead to some thoughtful convos. Anyway, thanks for commenting and best of luck in your next dungeon. I've another DD1-centric battle coming in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled if you like 'em.

I won't be surprised if RTD brings the Beast back at some point. However, I can't see Sutekh returning any time soon, and the Doctor rarely has to deal with uber-threats fighting against each other, so it's not likely 🤕

He did say his companion is death one who always comes with him on his travel so

Death makes companions of us all, and even immortals can be killed. The Doctor has met death, and death certainly follows the Doctor (but not in the traditional companion sense). Meanwhile, Sutekh implies he was latched onto the TARDIS all this time. Such a silly idea that causes an immeasurable number of loopholes.

There is a double-garrador encounter not far from here. Perhaps that is stuck in your mind.
