Thank you for this video. I am experiencing jam, failure to extract and failure to feed initially with many different brands and types of commercial quality ammo right out of the box, brand new for my TX22. I polished the barrel ramp and remedied the feed complication. I replace the extractor with the Tandem Kross Eagle Talon unit and spring with no change for failure of extraction. I watched your video and used my flat, machinist diamond stone, with dycome to see how bad these frame to slide pads are. Needless to say, they match the majority of my experiences with Taurus lacking any quality for all machine work procedures, and had high spots on all the pads. Slide fit was fine already, so I did not remove any material other than the percentage of high spots, then finish with Flitz paste and a wool drum for my Dremel. Previously when I installed my Tandem Kross Victory trigger, had polished all internal moving or contact components to remove all the burrs and sharp edges ignored by Taurus. Extraction issue is still present, so I thought of only one reason and component remaining for this problem, mainly brought on by my need to use a small brass rod to push the spent round case from chamber after firing. The barrel chamber. I measured the inside diameter to discover it is .226"-.2265" as the spent case measures .228". For further proof, measured my friends TX22 Lakeling LLC aftermarket barrel to find his chamber inside diameter is .228". I will receive my Lakeline LLC barrel today for remedy of this out of the box ongoing problem. My recent purchase of the Taurus G3C 9mm pistol is another disastrous story that I have now resolved over 2 months of modifying and replacing, internal components, now a Flawless, Dependable, Enjoyable EDC pistol. I have installed 3 other Tandem Kross Victory triggers in these TX22 pistols for others and find large amounts of variances in internal measurements and materials.Taurus customer service was of no benefit or seem trustworthy for me after reading all of the recent purchased pistols massive failures. Nice ergonomics and a fair price initially, but effected by all the repairs made for proper function.

How has yours held up? I use mine a lot for various models with available adapters and they never last long. I keep them clean and lubricated, but the plastic always cracks around the fasteners. I love the design, but the materials are too brittle and have to replace them every year.

I've seen many 22's with a gap between the slide and frame. It depends on how the slide rides on the frame. CZ has internal "rails?" so you can't see through it, but for instance the Glock 44 has the same gap. You can see parts moving in there. If I remember correctly the FN 502 has that too. But I guess, when you see it you can't unsee....I have the same OCD 😅

Thanks for the detailed review and sharing your experiences with the TX22 competition.. We picked up one of the signature models a few months back. At first it had all the FTF and or bolt over brass bent bullets. etc. After a little tinkering. buffing, etc. etc.. and testing ammo. Its running at over 99% across 6 mags. There are days where I fire 400+ rounds without a single issue. I found she like to eat Aguila 40G round nose HV for whatever reason, thats what she like to eat. Currently at over 9000 rounds. and love the gun. Not gona lie. the first thousand rounds were rough. But now that shes running right and I love this TX22!! Again. thanks for the input and advise. Was very helpful to me as I was trying to figure her out. Im considering adding a second tx22 compact to the mix. God Bless.

Thank you for the info Professor Fly. You are correct, the price point is too high for a project gun (based on your detailed description). I tuned up a used Kel-Tec PMR-30 for less money and effort. I am looking for a good .22LR pistol for training and helping family members new to guns. The cheap side of me keeps looking at this gun, but my gut tells me to save your money and buy one of the guns you mentioned. I grew up shooting a Mark II, and my Dad, brother and I shot the crap out of it; we eventually replaced a bunch of major components (with original parts), buffed it out and re-blue it. The gun was not in his safe after he passed, so someone out there has a great little gun. Nothing you buy today will last as long as things of yesteryear, you learn the rules and play their game to win.

I see no reason for polishing the top of the lugs that hold the barrel because the barrel does not move during firing. It should make it easier to attach slide and take it off.
@daveb4550

Grooves under those lugs is where the slide runs and that is hard to polish. Polishing the outside of those lugs though, should help make the slide run better.

Maybe a crazy idea, take a long pipe cleaner, put it in a hand drill, coat it with polishing compound and hold and run it in the grooves of the slide and lugs.

Try cleaning the inside of your magazines. Sometimes that solves the jamming problem with these tx22s. Use CLP and wipe the inside of the magazine with the magazine spring removed and then dry the inside of the magazine as best as you can. Hope this helps.

if the barrel is locked what difference does it make that the slide is gapped? Also you are shooting an optic so what difference does it make that you dont like the stock sights? I have to admit I admire your ability to remember how things were in the beginning on a particular gun and how they are now. I cant tell you anything from one gun to the next as to before and after.

You may also try using hi velocity rds, and store it with the slide locked back for a while. If the mags are feeding and not hanging up, many times I'm hearing from other owners that a 500-1000 rd break in period helps. I think polishing in essence helps get thru that period and friction is reduced and it starts functioning better.
@baxrok2.
@baxrok2. 7 ай бұрын
@@fly4fun463 Well, you're absolutely right. It took around 800 rounds for my gun to break in. Now it is literally flawless. After that magical break in period there has not been a single failure and I've competed with it every single weekend. It's gone from a gun that I hated to a gun that I love to shoot. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a competition 22. I'm running Federal blue box 36g.

Well now this is an interesting video and you have got to like that Taurus TX 22 competition. I have owned the TX22 competition since they first come out and it was very hard to find at first, but then I finally did find one. I have probably fired somewhere around 10,000 rounds through mine with no problems. As much as I like the Taurus tx22 competition, it is my second choice cuz my most favorite 22LR pistol is the sig Sauer p322. Even though the taurus tx22 competition feels good in my hands, these the sig Sauer p322 feels a little better. Also, there are some bulk 22 ammo that the Taurus tx22 doesn't really care for. Not very many. In fact, I think the Remington Golden boy bulk ammo is the only one that I have trouble with. Not all the time but just enough. That's a little irritating because I don't shoot anything but cheap Walmart ammo through mine and the Remington Golden boys are readily available. My sig Sauer p322 Will shoot them all day long with no problem. In fact, I haven't found any bulk ammo that it won't shoot.

Extended mags come with longer springs so don't worry. The tandemkross wingman 5 Rd extender is just right for me without sticking out of the grip too far. Seemed to be cheapest on shop Taurus. I found 21 rds to also be just right. But some love the Galloway 25 Rd but to me it's much more expensive.

Thank you for replying! And, I agree...no one understands that concept better than I do. I've been a consumer for over 60 years. In this case I got a $550 lemon. I even sent it back to Taurus, and it is still not acceptable enough for me to even sell it and dump it off on someone else. My conscience won't allow it. In my over 50 years of careful buying and selling guns (including most .22 handgun models), this particular purchase was the only one where there was no satisfying solution...except to eat $550 and take the hit.
