No, not at all. I practice both this style and Chen Taijiquan and the jin is completely different.

@@Livingtree32 Since there are many various Jins on both styles, which ones are different and not included in the others? I remember Chen Fake exchanging with the master of this art and them noting that many of the various Jins are the same. I appreciate your experience and insight!

@@greg6509 Taijiquan has very complex and refined body skills and uses the various jins for manipulation of structure and balance in a close combat grappling situation. Since Bajiquan’s approach to fighting is much more direct and explosive, in Bajiquan we don’t focus on that many details, instead just exploding all the time. Peng Jin in Taijiquan comes from sinking and expanding at the same time. The whole body always moves as one unit. Force is never generated through kua twisting. In Bajiquan however all the force is generated through kua twisting and it is ok for the lower body to act as a propeller for the upper body.

@@Livingtree32 Thank you for the detailed response I appreciate it! I did recently learn a push hand technique from my Chen Style instructor. He got it from Chen Bing. It involved opening both kwas outward using that to/while rotating the upper body with spiral like energy to throw someone off balance. I'm not familiar with exactly what the "kwa twisting" terminology refers to and if that's what you mean. I know in the chen style we're doing lots of dantien rotation and sinking in the kwa. To me, Chen Style doesn't seem as internal though as the Old Yang Style I've learned part of from some Masters. It's so interesting though because certain Sifus and Masters seem to only have bits and pieces and not the full picture usually. Tony Yang's Master I believe is the one who exchanged his arts with Chen Fake and they found most of their Jins being the same. I appreciate the insights!

@@greg6509 I suggest you look for a teacher of either Xiaojia Chen style, Beijing line (Chen Yu for example has some western students) or something like Zhaobao (which is not Chen, but close) if you want Chen style with more internal content. The village line, to which Chen Bing belongs, is not that rich in movement quality and thus it may very well be they supplement external ways of power generation. In the more conservative Chen Xiaojia that I learned, the internal body method is extremely deep.
