This is the basis of many of the techniques in traiditonal Chinese martial arts, especially Hung Kuen - damage the opponenets weapons to deter subsequent attacks. It's also the reason we condition our forearms and shins.

I don't have anyone to work pads with anymore so I just use a reflex bag but the setups usually wear out pretty quick with how I work them.. i don't even have to think about my combos or anything anymore they just roll out naturally and I mix defense in and block the bag and use head movements alot too and work on a little bit of everything on it that i possibly can and it's really fun lol
@joeyphillips1181
@joeyphillips1181 4 күн бұрын
It's possibly harder then pads too because you have a constant moving small target and it isn't afraid to swing back at you if you pop it lol and it really helps with timing & precision and landing good solid hits I feel I can out work it sometimes though as far as speed but my hits won't land if I go too fast so I can't throw them as fast as I want to because the bag will go flying back but I can time it and land them a little slower or throw a really fast 1,2 and double tap it before it can swing back

I watched Coach Tom Yankello’s boxing basic video and I understand his view on hand position. But somehow I still think this man’s hand is held a bit too low, I can be wrong, just thinking
@zedvar3806
@zedvar3806 15 сағат бұрын
He's definitely bringing that jab back too low. The right hand is kinda okay if he's fast at blocking. If not, then it should be higher, but different coaches see and teach different things.

@sebastienleblanc2708 that kind of habit will get him caught if he's not fast enough to bring it back up for protection.

Around the 00:21 mark, he crosses his feet. He'd better nip that shit in the bud now before it gets to be a bad habit. “When the pressure is on, you don’t rise to the occasion-you fall to your highest level of preparation.” ― Chris Voss

What is bad about crossing the feet? Im asking as an absolute lay person with 0 training.
@Cambodia69
@Cambodia69 3 күн бұрын
@@ByTheGram Crossing your feet destabilizes your foundation. The boxing stance is optimized for boxing footwork and other boxing specific movements. Having a good (consistent) stance allows us to be properly balanced at all times. If you're off balance, everything else is going to be off -- to your opponent's advantage and to your detriment. If I notice that my opponent has that bad habit, I can easily time and exploit that pattern to my advantage. While their feet are crossed, it would be easier to score a knockdown--even if they're not hurt from the punches--all because they're stance was momentarily compromised. I doubt that iron workers walking on I-beams would adopt crossing their feet as a way to get around up there. I suspect that much the same is true for other sports as well.
