A story where one young sibling tires to murder another. A story or revenge and murder. A story that tells us good and evil are not important, only power is. Yup totally for kids. It's a show every parent should throw on for their children when they need short break from parenting. It's educational too. I had no idea you could have a camp fire in space.

What is Andara doing there? She's kicking back drinking some spotchka with some homies at the bar. What a Jedi can't have friends? What are they doing at the table? Waiting for drinks. Why do they have the same hair cut? They don't one has it longer. Why are the prisoners able to escape so easily? Because it's a transport ship filled with old droids, they hacked it. My question is why is why is the grain filter so high it just pixelates everything.

She's on the planet to indicate Mae is undertaking a massive Jounrey to take put these jedi. The mission or actual reason for her character doesn't matter because she dies. Mae and Osha have similar hair styles because they connect them to their family, who gave them it. To avoid spoilers ending here. The statement "its about power" could be seen as what this series is about. It's not actually about power. it's about unity and coming together, a cheesy theme similar to those that came before it. The last two are just nitpicks, bright colors indicate high status, and the hair cut on yord was meant to dissuade the idea that he's a bad guy.

Thank you for the comment! Good points. I thought maybe Moss' character could be listening to the grievances of the locals. It just felt unclear, some were eating, some had nothing in front of them. With the twins, a lot of times when one leaves an institution or group, they will shed themselves of the markers of that group. Sometimes to establish their identity away from the group. Although, that would have cost more from a production standpoint.

I agree with most of the points you’re making, but this show is supposed to show us how inept the Jedi are in this point in history. They got too comfortable being the super police in the galaxy, without any massive threats to keep them on their toes. It’s not until the clone wars where we actually see the Jedi become warriors again, which isn’t even something a “jedi” should strive to be.

@@apocalypsetedium ofc. Its leading into how the order fell so easily during order 66. In the old republic there were thousands of Jedi and thousands of sith, and tue Jedi held their ground enough to win at the end of the day. In comparison to the Jedi falling to a handful of sith and clone troopers.

You do realize that the war photographers are reluctant propagandists for the “Western Forces”, right. This isn’t the protagonists picking a side so much as it is their ticket towards getting the “money shot” of the President’s death. Like in the real world, I think that Alex Garland was trying to say that, whatever side you pick, it is going to use violence in order to make a point. That’s why there are multiple militias in the movie. Multiple sides that are trying to prove their side’s superiority via violent means.
@apocalypsetedium
@apocalypsetedium 9 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment! In the real world, many war journalists ARE reluctant propagandists. Sometimes they're inadvertent propagandists. Trying to "get the money shot," makes them seem less like actual journalists and more like exploitative paparazzi. Garland's point is that, in war, all sides "use violence?" Well, that's not much of a point. It's already understood. If he's making a film with media members as the main characters, why not explore how media shapes the country's perception of itself? That way he can still have his cake of not naming Democrats or Republicans, and still give us something challenging to explore.

Thank you for the comment! I agree, there's war journalists in the movie. But the film doesn't examine the vocation to the depths that predecessors like "The Killing Fields" or The Year of Living Dangerously," do. And those films also provide compelling dramatic themes that challenge the audience. In my opinion, with the current state of America, to do a film about a hypothetical civil war, and not provide challenging material, was a cop out.

IMO not calling names is one of the main ideas of the movie. It is trying to show, how easily can two groups of people with hardly any differences or reasons start a bloody civil war, how horrific the consequences are. It is basically warning against possible outcome of artificial divide of the american people. Naming the sides of conflict would only make ground for politicized viewers to point fingers at each other - which they do anyway, calling the movie right wing or left wing propaganda, basically trying to PICK A SIDE in the civil war, which only proves the movies message right.
@apocalypsetedium
@apocalypsetedium 16 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment! I agree, not naming names was a main idea of the movie. I think people (or media pundits) will politicize it anyway. Everything is politicized in the US. The pandemic didn't bring Americans together, it was politicized and used to drive wedges between people. From a movie-going perspective, I just wished he filmmakers embraced the opportunity to create a more compelling narrative. They don't have to literally "name" real-life parties or groups. This is where the creative license comes into play. It's hard to do. Writing is hard. Writing well is even harder still. But to not provide anything felt like a cop-out to me.

You missed the point of the whole movie. If you got a punk kid who wants to drink and smoke you make him drink and smoke till they turn green and vomit and crap their pants. Well, you got what you wanted kid, did you enjoy it? That is what this movie was. People say they want a civil war, but they know not what they say. War is not entertainment. The news is not supposed to be entertainment but some people think it is so they tune in to the one that is most fun... The government is not supposed to be a spectator sport yet here they are rooting for their team. When the game is really over we won't shake hands and play again next week. Everyone will be dead. That is civil war. That is what this movie was. No plot, no addressing issues... just war, fear, and death. That is what MAGA wants. Well take a look. Is this what you really want?
@apocalypsetedium
@apocalypsetedium 16 күн бұрын
Thank you for the comment! I agree this movie does a good job showing horrific violence. I would argue that movies don't send people to war. Social circumstances do, like resource scarcity. Like not having food or shelter. When people don't see the system as serving them, they will seek to overthrow it. As for this film serving as a warning... There was a great anti-war film made in 1930, All Quiet on the Western Front. Won two academy awards and was seen as such a great lesson on the horrors of war, it was recommended that the League of Nations show it to all countries of the world, so that we may never have war again. Less than ten years later, the world was in the throes of World War 2. In large part because the German govt cut unemployment, sending thousands into the arms of the fashists. We can avoid making the same mistake by showing the system serving the people.

I don’t think the MAGAs want war, fear, and death. I feel like they want peace, respect for Christian values (we’re a Christian-dominant culture after all), incentives for hard work, and decreased incentives for those who wreak havoc on our judicial system and abuse social welfare programs.
