So, I have both meniscus torn in my right knee, mucoid degeneration of the ACL, and full thickness cartilage loss on the lateral patella facet with synovitis. Is this fixable with therapy or is it something that needs to be surgically? I understand you don't know me I'm just asking for an opinion or thoughts. Thanks

Thank you for sharing your experience. It would be best to consult with a physician one on one about your condition to review possible treatments you may be a candidate for. If you would like to reach out to our founder and Chief Medical officer, you can find him on Facebook. He hosts a live session each week where he answers audience questions. This may be a good start to get some of your questions answered if you're not yet ready to meet with a physician in office. Here is the link for our Facebook page facebook.com/Regenexx/ Dr. Centeno goes Live Sundays at 9am Colorado time. If you can't attend the live broadcast, feel free to submit questions for Dr. Centeno ahead of time through Facebook messenger so you'll be able to see the answers on the recording.

After two meniscectomies my quality of life has gone down the toilet. I used to hike, backpack, and climb 14,000 foot peaks. Now I’m limping after a trip to the grocery store. Save the surgery as a last resort if nothing else works. I sure wish I had.

Thank you for your comment. Did you know Regenexx PRP treatments, commonly called Regenexx SCP, are very different from what other providers are able to do? This difference is based on the lab data we've observed for over 15 years, how a Regenexx physician evaluates a condition to determine the procedure type for the specific condition or injury, and the on-site laboratory where we count the cells and know the dose required for each patient's treatment. To learn why Regenexx PRP is different and review the data behind our procedure, please visit regenexx.com/blog/prp-injections/

So please clarify, your saying that one can not retrieve stem cells from a donated umbilical cord?
@Regenexx
@Regenexx 5 ай бұрын
This link can provide additional information regenexx.com/blog/our-latest-paper-on-umbilical-cord-stem-cell-products-gets-published/ From the linked article: "If you take an umbilical cord from a live birth and walk that cord to a research lab, they will be able to get mesenchymal stem cells to grow out of the Wharton’s Jelly in the cord. The problem starts when you store that cord in the hospital, that’s then transported to a processing facility, then it’s stored until the processors can work on it, that then is processed and the Wharton’s Jelly extracted and isolated, then placed in vails, then frozen to -80C, then stored, then shipped across the country, and then stored, and then finally shock thawed by the doctor. By the time the cells have gone through this Dante’s Inferno, they are dead or dying. While all of this would be obvious to anyone who has worked with live stem cells, isolation, culture expansion, and cryopreservation, it’s not obvious to most physicians who have no experience in this area. Hence, manufacturers and sales reps are able to get physicians to bite on the story that their vials containing Wharton’s Jelly have millions of live and highly functional stem cells. Therein begins the problem, as physicians and providers then pass that myth on to patients."

The doctor told me that the reason my legs have been hurting is because two bones inside of my knees are rubbing and they’re not supposed to. Can you tell me the name of thing I don’t have in my knee that’s supposed to prevent them from touching ?

It would be best to meet with a physician to understand what your specific condition is. For reference, one common concern is often the cartilage in the knee joint. We regularly treat bone on bone conditions in the knee you can read more here regenexx.com/blog/ask-dr-c-episode-8-bone-on-bone-and-cartilage-regeneration/ and review more about the condition here regenexx.com/conditions-treated/knee/osteoarthritis/ The important thing is determine the source of the pain and treating that - as an equal number of people who have no cartilage have no pain, as have pain. Learn more about this important difference here regenexx.com/blog/knee-nerve-pain/

What’s interesting is there is no stats talked about with respect to the effectiveness of Stem cell. I know that less then 5% who received stem cell ever saw any relief or repair of meniscus. This includes myself.

Is there any cure of meniscus bucket handle tear without surgery?
@Regenexx
@Regenexx Жыл бұрын
Tears that occur in the red zone of your meniscus and have the best blood circulation heal the best with regenerative orthopedic procedures. Bucket handle tears are one of the most common types of tears we treat without surgery. You can read more about the Regenexx nonsurgical procedure here regenexx.com/conditions-treated/knee/meniscus/

Hi doctor , I had my meniscus tear laser therapy but my tear didn't healed with it..I had my appointment from my doctor and he recommended me some high dose tablets and told that ur meniscus tear grade 2 will be recovered through it but these medicines showed their side effects due to their high dose..He also told me that if ur tear didn't healed withthese medicines so we will do the arthroscopy of ur knee...But i am taking these high dose medicines since two days and not feeling well because of it..kindly tell me what should i do..Also there is a little fluid around my knee..i wanted to ask u that do i need surgery or not?
@Regenexx
@Regenexx Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Regenexx procedures are very different as they use only the patient's own cells for treatment. This minimally invasive alternative to meniscus surgery uses ultrasound-guided technology to precisely inject your own bone marrow concentrate (which contains stem cells) directly where it’s needed in the joint. The cells in your bone marrow concentrate work at the site of your injury to promote your body’s natural healing abilities to treat the tear and avoid surgery. Tears that occur in the red zone of your meniscus and have the best blood circulation heal the best with regenerative orthopedic procedures. The tears we see and treat most often are: flap tears, bucket handle tears, and complex/degenerative tears. If you have no pain or mechanical issues in the joint, you may choose to wait to see if it heals on its own. Depending on the type and severity of the tear, you may have pain, stiffness, and reduced function. There’s also the possibility of developing knee arthritis as a result of the damage. The best way to know if you may be able to avoid surgery is to meet with a Regenexx physician. To read more about treating meniscus tears without surgery, please visit regenexx.com/conditions-treated/knee/meniscus/

Very important , regarding IV stem cell treatment : I read a medical study where the bag containing the stem cell infusion shaking or something like that to avoid sedimentation of stem cells in the tip of bag. Ussualy the needle introduced in the bag to collect the stem cells has a higher position than the inside part of the tip of bag. Doctors know what I mean. How doctors avoid this phenomenon ? Thanks.
@Regenexx
@Regenexx Жыл бұрын
The risk of IV stem cell use stems from three main factors. First, the cells can coagulate and stick together, potentially leading to a blot clot. Second, trying to determine the complications and side effects of this delivery route is very difficult. Third, the cells delivered this way will preferentially end up in the lungs. To read more, please visit regenexx.com/blog/iv-stem-cells-clotting/

Just stumbled across this Video - very good holistic view of Knee Meniscus issues. In my case torn over a year ago, seemed to slowly get better(or I just got used it) But now worse than ever and stops me from normal life. Unable to sleep well, walk or do any activities - my MRI conclusion was : Mild to moderate medial compartment osteoarthritis with focal anteromedial 14 mm full-thickness tibial plateau chondral loss with underlying degenerative subchondral cyst formation and reactive oedema. Medial meniscal body a€" posterior horn junction cleavage tear as described which reaches the posteromedial corner and gives rise to a small cluster of para meniscal cyst. Posterior capsulitis and pericapsular oedema.
