I know, sorry :( I regretted saying it right away. What I wanted to say was that the televoting sometimes displays a very judgemental side of society, and talented people with beautiful songs like Destiny don't get the same recognition they get from a jury panel of music experts.

I wrote a little web app using React Node.js

Very true. The prediction is kind of weak for the semi-finals. There's a version of the video with all 41 countries, though: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n6uHkpyhtsiuo2w.html

I gathered all the voting data available out there and calculated averages. Some countries are much more likely to vote for one another than others, regardless what song is chosen. Other versions of this prediction will be available soon with a better display and some fixes here and there :)

Thanks :) There's much more that can be done to balance out some things, like the few you mentioned, but I mostly just organized all the data and the results spoke for themselves. Australia (and other recent entries) may have inaccurate votes because there's not enough data to really get a good average. They've had 4 pretty decent entries, and both Hungary and Poland voted them an average of around 5.5. The interesting thing about Hungary and Poland is that, unlike many other countries, they don't have a clear "favourite neighbour" that they always vote to, regardless of the song, so most countries have a similar average, which gives Australia an unfair advantage with their smaller dataset. The years that Germany voted really high for Sweden were 1991, 1995, 2012 (12 points), 2015, 2016 (10 Points), 1993, and 2000 (8 Points). When the data starts being explicitly split between Jury and Televote, I simply got the average of the two to keep it consistent with older data. That means Germany only recently gave null points to Sweden in 2011 and 2014, not in 2013 (3 Points), 2017 (2 Points), and 2018 (6 Points). You are absolutely right about Armenians in France. They do in fact drive France to vote fairly well to Armenia, but there was a mistake in the dataset for this video that didn't consider France's votes to Armenia. I'm making some more improvements to the design based on feedback I'm getting, so I'll fix that in the next version. =)

@@felipefmdo Yep it's all very complex and there's a lot of data. I was more thinking of this decade and not historic wise. Also I didn't think about juries before my comment 😅 There's a lot of different aspects You are right about Hungary and Poland. About Germany and Sweden Yep. As I said early I was more thinking of televoting and this decade in particular but juries are also part of it 😅. German jury gave 12 to Sweden in 2013 and 2018 but their televote didn't care at all. So.. Yes France has voted a lot for Armenia. Great you are making improvements :)
