Can you please tell me what stripper you are using? I tried the orange stuff, citri stripper it was wrapped with plastic for 24 hours twice. It did not come off very easily not like yours did and took way too long.

Enjoying your project, however your 71 rambler is a reimagining of the unit and in reality will only be a surface deep facsimile. Keep up the good work. Regards from across the Atlantic.

I didn't realize that HR had aluminum emblems back in the day... you knocked it out of the park it looks great.👍 Can't wait to see what you do with that tankless hot water heater, one of the best upgrades I've made to mine. I ran pex lines 5 years ago and no issues thus far, knock on wood. Made it easy replacing all the old stuff easy.

It seems the gold that I received is not as gold as yours but I know it is just a picture. The date on the can says 9/23. Mine just seems so dark. Sorry to bother you. I didn’t know if you added something to it.

Sorry to hear that. Colors can definitely look different in different lights. I reduced mine as per the directions, but didn’t change anything else.

Sorry, to text you but I need to know the color of gold. You said gold metallic and they sent me the wrong color. We sprayed it on and I hate this color. Thanks, Cindy

Hey Cindy, the link to the paint I used is in the video description. It’s called Champagne Gold Metallic from TCP Global

Probably too late now but what if you pore structural closed cell foam in the corners behind your plywood for your corners making it rigid and insulated?
@bakermakesit9 күн бұрын
I actually had the same thought and put Great Stiff Door and Window back there. It’s a closed cell foam and made it super strong!

How much silver paint did you buy? Thanks!
@bakermakesitАй бұрын
I bought 2 gallons of base coat, which turns into 3 gallons once it’s mixed. I used about 2/3 of that but if I had sprayed a third coat (which I should have) it would have been the perfect amount

I can't wait to pick your brain after you're done, lol. I'm closing in on painting and have been looking at different paints. So far I'm thinking automotive paint for sure. Either PPG, Tcp, Eastwood or Summit Racing. That red came out nice, too bad you weren't closer, I'd have come down and bought the leftover red from you, haha! Or brought down the few pieces I need shot red, ha
@bakermakesitАй бұрын
Yes sir, happy to walk you through my process. I use a lot of TCP global stuff at work and really like it. The Eastwood paint took 6 coats to cover the black seam sealer vs. 4 of the TCP for what it’s worth. The biggest thing I’m glad I did was the seam sealer on all trims and overlaps. It’s rock solid and I have a lot of faith that it’s going to last longer than the paint will. Just shoot me a message on FB when you’re at that part of your project 😀

Nice work. Sucks that you can’t remove the key for the lock unless it is locked. I tend to leave the compartments unlocked when I’m at the camp site, so I don’t have to have the keys on me at all times.

I am impressed with your work. Can I ask what kind of wheel did you use for scuffing up the gold?
@bakermakesit3 ай бұрын
Thank you! It’s a diamond cup disc made by Pferd. It’s around $350 and takes 6-8 months to get but we use them a lot at work. Also required a variable speed grinder because it needs to run slow. In hindsight I think I just needed to spend more time the first time around with a red scotchbrite pad. It only peeled on the edges. I have since discovered red scotchbrite discs that mount onto a 5” orbital sander that would probably work well!

Looks like your sealing it up pretty good, just remember that when running propain appliances that its bi-product is carbon monoxcide, one of the reasons I decided to lean towards more electric. Like seeing the progress and you have come a long way👍
@bakermakesit3 ай бұрын
Yep, the only thing propane will be the water heater, which is why I closed off the fridge vent. Electric fridge and diesel heater is the plan! There will absolutely be a CO detector installed as well.

Sorry new watcher and didn't see the video with the bellypan.
@bakermakesit3 ай бұрын
You’re good! Yes it had one, but I’m pretty sure that I’m going to skip it. I really like being able to access the bottom. The subfloor is my only concern but I’ve had lots of enclosed trailer that get used in the rain and it’s never been an issue. With this being the higher quality Advantech subfloor, I’m probably going to just go for it.

We have a 66 Concord we are doing. It has a belly pan understeer frame. Was wondering if you didn't put it back or it didn't have one to begin with.

Good video. I know there is controversy but on the cars with the oil filter mounted vertically, I always prefill the filter. No need for anyone to comment that it isn't necessary, as it is just my personal preference.
@bakermakesit3 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes that’s definitely quite the debate. I’ve never done it but I can understand why it would be a good idea.

Hello can I use these same procedures for the 2020 Hyundai Tucson? Thanks
@bakermakesit3 ай бұрын
I’m not 100% sure, but if you have the 2.4L engine it should be very similar if not the same 🙂
@robertsuelter41963 ай бұрын
it is the same for my 2021 with the same 2.0L engine so I would assume the 2020 is the same as well. I think the 2018 and back have a little door for the filter and a door for the drain plug instead of removing the entire skid plate like in this video.

What was the manufacturer of the tanks??? I'm still using the original one and its black water only, a grey water tank would help out in camp grounds that don't have full hook-ups...

I bet most of the water damage under the windows is from condensation, not water from the outside.

That definitely could be a factor! That being said, I've seen water come in around the windows during heavy rains, so there was a lot that needed to be addressed
