I have a 3000, no x. Bought it from Goal Zero during their 2019 Memorial Day sale. Unit cost $2300, normally about $3100. Works well, but I prefer the smaller units, I have a 500x, and looking to get another one. I figure $800 would be a fair price to sell the 3000. If you're interested, let me know. Thanks for sharing your yeti 3000x adventure with us. I should have mine in two weeks and I’m soaking up as much information as I can while I wait. I have a great deal of experience with my 1000 lithium. I’m probably going to buy the fast charger for my 3000x and use my gas generator during the day to run all my stuff and the Yeti at night. Please keep us posted on Your experiences. It is much appreciated.

Thanks for your kind comment! Here's the update on solar panels etc. I did already buy the fast charger and it's totally worth it. I'm trying to avoid a generator at all costs because the closest gas station is 22 miles away, and propane is also that far for refills. Plus the noise....anyway, that's my path. Everyone's path is different! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a8qhfbGcrdmZoZ8.html

The Goal Zero Yeti 3000X only puts out 2,000 watts. It has a 3,000 watt surge protector but it does not put out 3,000 watts. I know because I have one, along with the solar panel. We recently had a 5 day power outage due to the fires in our area. The Yeti 3000X failed miserably. First, the "Fast Charge" adapter failed. Then the recharger itself failed on the unit and I could not recharge the Yeti even with the standard charger. I finally asked my brother to drive over and let me borrow his RV since it has a 4,000 watt generator. I ultimately bought another generator that uses gas and propane and it cost 1/4 of what I paid for the Yeti. Btw, I live in Northern California where the fires are now burning.

Thanks for your comment. I'm so sorry everything failed for you. I'm continuing my monitoring process but I understand your concerns. Everyone here in Sierra County is very concerned and sad about the devastation for our neighbors in Plumas and Lassen counties. And of course, Nevada County last week :-(

@@Laurie0 Thank you for your kind words. I live close to the Dixie Fire which has consumed about 500,000 acres. The second largest fire in California history :-( I bought the Yeti 3000X less than a year ago and tested it without any problems. Part of the reasons I bought the Yeti in the firs place was so I wouldn't have to drag it out of the garage in the snow, at night, and I didn't want to hassle with filling a generator with gas. I also live in an area where theft is a problem and I didn't want to leave the generator outside. I was told that even with the generator chained up, a pair of good bolt cutters could go through the chain without any problem After a lot of searching and research I finally decided to buy the 3000X. I could keep it indoors where it would be safe and I wouldn't have all the hassles I mentioned above. I never imagined that when I needed it the most, the generator itself would fail. I also thought that it put out 3,000 watts which everyone told me was more than enough juice. I found out later about inverters and surge spikes, etc. This is when I found out it was only 2,000 watts with a 3,000 watt surge protector. I now have a new 7,5000 watt generator bolted to the cement in my backyard.

Would this thing even run a tankless water heater? I know some of those have a 4500w power draw...this thing can only only handle 2000w cont with a 3500w surge
@Laurie03 жыл бұрын
Good question. Being the beginner that I am, I'm not sure. I was able to plug in my diesel-run traditional whole house heater w/electric starter and run it just to warm up the house, but looking back at my notes I didn't make any re: power draw. It's really all a testing game...test, test, test before you find yourself in an emergency. I didn't try the tankless water heater because it had just crapped out so we switched to a garden hose powered propane tank Camp Chef Triton w/shower head system and snaked an extra long shower hose into the shower through the window so we could keep the propane outside. (This system will become our outdoor shower after we replace the water heater).

You might want to check out Will Prowse on KZfaq. He has a specific vid on how to extend the life of the batteries. I own a Yeti 3000. After three years and five months it still charges up to ninety six percent by following his advice. Allow me to recommend those small Frigidaire freezer/ fridges, the small white ones with the door on top. Those things are great, they run with a low consumption.
@Laurie03 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Will check out Will and the Frigidaire!

@@Laurie0 The Frigidaire freezer fridge, the small one has an energy consumption rated at 23( the yellow label they put on the fridges in stores by law). The office fridges are rated at 45 energy consumption. It's a big difference. I bought an office one having to replace it. I like to help people save. Best wishes to you and yours.

Any two or three hundred watts panel would do. I think they sell the anderson to 8 mm adapter. You just need to never exceed the input voltage. I think it is twenty volts for the 3000. I have two boulder 100 but I think they are too expensive although extremely high quality.

Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. They say you can program the Yeti X to stop charging at your desired percentage. I will look for the info because mine is an older version.

I personally wouldn't have the refrigerator plugged to the Yeti as the Yeti is plugged in to the wall.. You're wearing off the batteries lifespan and using extra energy as the Yeti AC inverter has some loss of energy.. I would keep the Yeti plugged in to the wall or solar 24/7 to have it ready to go whenever needed, and prolonging the batteries life.
@Laurie03 жыл бұрын
Thank you - I kept it plugged in for any windstorm-induced "planned" outages that may occur while I'm away from the house. The outages may be planned, but they're kind of a moving target. I've now unplugged the refrigerator from the Yeti but am leaving the internet router plugged in, as I like my weather station to keep running if I'm away. That should be okay, right?
@martindrummer903 жыл бұрын
@@Laurie0 Awesome! And yes that probably draws very little watts so your batteries won't suffer as much compared to a refrigerator load.. Look into getting some solar panels as well! I have a Yeti 500x that I use for camping and power outages, and paired up with a 100watt panel is great!
@botat346913 жыл бұрын
The Yeti 3000 has pass through technology like a UPS. So it does not deplete the battery like you would think.
@emsmkivgolf3 жыл бұрын
The manual actually recommends this versus letting it sit unplugged for several months at a time. Was kind of surprised by that but the manual says it’s actually good for the battery and life of the generator.

That charger you have is just trickle charging the goal zero that’s why you see it at 98%. You should get solar panels for it or a small portable generator with a fast charger.

I've been testing my Yet 3000 charging with 6 100 watt 12 volt panels in parallel. For some reason the charge rates consistanly go to a charging rate of 233watts, the same as yours is doing. It will start out at a higher wattage but will step down to 233 after a while. I can reset it back to the higher rate if I unplug the input for a few seconds. Is there something significant about the 233watt value on these?
