Absolutely fascinating view on how different Hadestown once was. I still think the current version from London to Broadway is the quintessential and best version of what Hadestown is, but seeing the earlier, more gritty and "dirty" versions is still very interesting.

In this original production in Vermont, the above ground world had props, all handled with great care. When we arrive in Hadestown, the props were pantomimed, to evoke a type of dream-myth. You'll notice Hades "holding a syringe", but his gesture looks more like some kind of snake bite.....

So I think this is the full tracklist for the 2007 Vermont productions of Hadestown: Epic, Pt. 1 Way Down Hadestown Everything Written Hey little Songbird Gone, I'm gone When the chips are down Wait for me Why We Build the Wall Our Lady of the Underground Everything Written Reprise If it's true Papers How long Epic, Pt. 2 Lovers Desire His Kiss, the Riot Wait for me Reprise Doubt comes in Cloud Machine Hobo's Lullaby I'm hoping to be able to get the full lyrics for each of the songs, however a lot of assumptions are going to have to be made for what exactly was a part of the 2007 production.

My favorite performance was at the Barre Labor Hall. Everyone was fabulous, the show was tight, the sets were creative, the whole performance was mesmerizing. The cherry on top for me was Sarah Grace-when she's good she's very very good-and she was great that day. Good times. Thanks, Ben for the memories :)

Anyone know the relation to the medical looking costumes? Did it have a different setting then the mine?

The Fates costumes were meant to evoke telephone operators / secretaries for Hades / "nurses" for the workers. Not just the mines but a power station and company town

I'd agree to 1:18 being HLS; you can see her calling Orpheus' name and in some live performances of the studio album, that screechy string style is how they do the intro to HLS, the transition from Lovers' Desire to His Kiss The Riot, and stuff like that.
