@SuperScrewj10 күн бұрын
I don't think he did anything wrong with the roll. Yes he spun, but he allowed the car to get off the racing line. Its unfortunate that you were close enough to collect him at that point. Would he not have been parked on the racing line if he stopped on track? Then after the spin he'd have to either reverse onto track [same as his roll] or drive forward into the gravel. The 2nd incident of trying to rejoin the track was entirely his fault. Should have been more aware of approaching cars.
@AlexVangeenRacing10 күн бұрын
@@SuperScrewj no, you don’t roll back cos it’s not predictable, especially after people have already started to avoid him. He literally rolled in to my path. It’s fine he’s on the racing line, people can see and they slow for a stopped car. He should have driven forward to the grass as he’d be out the way faster and can see where he’s going. Not just aimlessly rolling backwards.

Look, sometimes there's just no point even trying to discuss these things. People will choose to believe what is convenient for them to believe. Of course the other guy is 100% to blame. It's just annoying that some people don't have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of racing, or lack the grace to put up their hand and apologise when it's due. I think we've all had instances where people have moved back across before completing a pass. The Webber v Vettel incident in Turkey 2010 is a textbook example of the same thing - Vettel moved over on Webber then took absolutely zero responsibility.

mate i understand you wanted to keep your line but theres absolutely no need to do that 1) it ends both races since the average driver would go back across a bit to racing line 2) you could setup a switchback and get him back on he exit, this is just racecraft and gets learned over time.
@AlexVangeenRacing3 ай бұрын
What I did doesn’t end any races. Yes a driver might want to move back to the racing line but they can’t if there is a car there. You have to look! If there is a car there you can’t move, if you do and you hit them, it’s on you, not the person holding their line on a straight
@enzodeligny17c3 ай бұрын
@@AlexVangeenRacing ok if you look at it that way sure, technically your right but your not going to progress with that mentality of « yes but it’s his fault « sure he moved across on you but you still both crashed, in the end it’s gonna hurt you the most if u keep doing that. You also have to take into account your racing hobby drivers at that level on iRacing.
@BradPhilpot3 ай бұрын
This is massive victim blaming. The one and only thing which should have happened differently here is the car on the right should have stopped moving left when he reached Alex’s car. That’s literally it. You can’t blame the driver who’s literally driving in a dead straight line. Saying Alex is in the wrong here essentially rules out 50% of the potential racecraft available in battle.
@enzodeligny17c3 ай бұрын
@@BradPhilpot Yes I agree, Alex is not in the wrong im just saying he could’ve done something differently to avoid it for a better outcome for his race that’s all.
@BradPhilpot3 ай бұрын
@@enzodeligny17c yeah but he shouldn’t have to. You shouldn’t have to drive as if your opponents are going to drive into you when you’re going straight on a straight. Sure if Alex had been moving left and then suddenly stopped, you might argue he prompted an incident even though it still wouldn’t be his fault. But in this scenario he acts extremely predictable and doesn’t do anything wrong that I can see.

This is a common accident i think. Heres my opinion on it. He was way ahead when he started turning left. So the car behind shouldve gave him space , You dont have to , its just proper racing etiquette. IF you guys were wheel to wheel. Then no, you couldve stayed on your line. TBH you shouldve known he was gonna swerve left there after he passed you. You shouldve known that and gave him more room to avoid a collision , You shouldve gave him more room. You were already done on the straight. He had the inside , he was always gonna have that corner. even if he did stay in his line , he can just run you wide because the corner is his. This was an avoidable crash by the car behind imo. you were already done and passed that corner is his all day. But again its not dirty or bad driving or anything. Its a touchy crash this i can see both sides
@AlexVangeenRacing3 ай бұрын
See this where lots of people make the mistake or understanding space, and understanding defensive driving. The whole time I’m ahead I am able to pick wherever I want to put my car. Once the overtaking car has an overlap, I cannot move over anymore, and this continues until he is fully clear on me. If he gets half a car ahead and stays there, just because he’s ahead doesn’t mean he can move over. Im still defending, by keeping him tight and compromising his entry to T1, to either make him back out in to T1 or continue the battle in to other corners. Being ahead does not grant you freedom of where to put your car. You can only put your car where other cars aren’t
@ThomasMartineau33 ай бұрын
It is his fault, but sometimes people expect the other drive to move to the racing line. I think thats what happened
@AlexVangeenRacing3 ай бұрын
Probably but you can’t just move over. The plan in that situation is either, he stays on the inside and me staying there compromises his entry to the corner, or if he gets clear I can pressure him in to the corner. People need to be more aware. You cannot just turn across

I personally feel like: The Lotus was in front with a lot of overspeed. It's the responsibility of the car behind to avoid the Collison. It's natural that you would both want to move over to the racing line to open up the angle for the next corner. The Lotus was slowly edging over and didn't make any abrupt movement. This incident gave me a Webber-Vettel 2010 Turkey flashback.
@AlexVangeenRacing3 ай бұрын
You say it’s up to me to avoid the collisions but I don’t have to change my line to accommodate for him. We are on a straight and I am going straight. He can go where he likes but cannot turn in to where I am. Just because he is ahead does not mean he gets to go where he likes. He can’t go there because there is a car there!
@lukejohnrussell10263 ай бұрын
@@AlexVangeenRacing The car in front has every right to dictate the line but is required to leave space to the car behind.
@AlexVangeenRacing3 ай бұрын
Yeah he can go where he wants just not in to the space I’m in. He can come across until he gets to me then has to stop. He can’t keep coming and expect me to move
@lukejohnrussell10263 ай бұрын
The car in front is allowed to choose their position for the next corner as long as they leave space for the car behind, which they did. Once the Lotus is ahead, the Black and Green car needs to look at this situation from the perspective that they have now become the overtaking car. Being the car behind, it is their responsibility to overtake in a safe manner and are therefore required to change their line to "accommodate for him" to avoid a collision. I’m going to hazard a guess that you were trying to hold the Lotus onto the inside in an attempt to compromise their entry into the next corner? This was a perfectly legal move until you lost the position. I find the art of good racing is a lot like dancing. Sometimes you can lead but sometimes you have to follow.
