Looks way more capable than most people would think for a van. Nice one! do you have a diff locker or just standard?

Hi, is this an 4x4 import from Japan? It goes rather well as I know Stocktons soft sand quite well. Have you got a rear lsd diff installed? Looking to go the hiace way but was hesitant in its beach 4x4 capabilities. Good luck on the channel and looking forward to seeing more of your adventures. Cheers Noel

Yes this is an import from Japan. We don't have any rear diffs installed, but we have upgraded the suspension. As you can see, it's quite capable on sand. The only issue was the lack of power as it's only 2.7L petrol no turbo, it was revving pretty hard the whole time. I would suggest getting a diesel for better performance.

@@V8DUCK4x4 oh that explains the 2/10 torque rating. Stockton has a lot of soft sand and specially the beach front I drive a 105 cruiser and am regularly deflating to 16-20 psi and when I’ve struck soft sand bowls where it doesn’t look like your ever getting out I’ve had to drop right down to 10 psi. Over all the video shows that the hiace kept up with the mux if not better. I assume the mux didn’t air down far enough. What size tyres and rims are you running? Is it only a 2 “ lift? South Australia has never been on our radar and since the missus and I have seen your vids it looks very appealing. Wife works from home so a little office set up with starlink and she can have a wonderful office views every wknd. 👍🏾🙏🏾

@@noelvelasquez8679 we have 16in rims with 215/70/R16 BF Goodrich K02 and on top of the factory 2' lift we added another 2' to it. The MUX was on road tyres so she couldn't drop the pressure as much, I was sitting on 18 the way in and then 12 on the way back.

Thanks for sharing these videos! A lot of interest in your van 😁 Would you be willing to share any more specifics about the lift on your Hiace? Trying to put together a parts list to ship to North America. Turns out more difficult than I hoped.

We have a plan to make a tour video with extra details, but for the lift itself: front is just torsion bar lifted, we got new lower control arms and ball joints fitted but they're same as original. Done it just to make sure there are no weak points as ball joints were pretty worn out. For the rear, it's lifted with extra leaf spring. One extra leaf fitted and just re-tensioned. Some people do it with extended shackles, but it didn't seem right to me with the extra weight we're carrying. That is really it and it gives around 45 mm lift. You can probably get extra 10mm before you need to source completely new arms for the front. We got another inch from the rims (15" to 16" rims) and tires. Those are KO2s LT215/70R16 tires. All new shocks are also fitted although I do not remember exactly the size, those are from SuperPro. Cheers!

what size are the fender flares ? Do they hit the sliding door?
@V8DUCK4x4
@V8DUCK4x4 10 ай бұрын
No issues with the sliding doors etc. They maybe stick out extra 3-4 cm. They come with screws but we just used the double sticky tape that is already on them and they still hold well 2 years later. Putting them on right takes a little trail and error but shouldn't be too big of an issues. This is the exact link to what we have on the van: ebay.us/H2794U

Can I ask you the brand of your bullbar and roof racks are
@V8DUCK4x4
@V8DUCK4x4 11 ай бұрын
Bullbar is made by Gi Gear so as far as I know it's available only in Japan. You can get similar bullbars here in Australia although I do not know about the quality comparison. The roof racks are kind of DIY. The brackets are from ebay, but the rails and everything that goes on them is made from extruded aluminum. You can buy a 6m piece of extruded aluminum and cut into 4 x 1.5m pieces. That's what was done here. 2 years later everything is still secure as each rails is attached with 4 heavy duty screws. We will be doing tour video where I'll list the links etc.

What changes did you guys make to your suspension/tyres/rims from being stock?
@V8DUCK4x4
@V8DUCK4x4 11 ай бұрын
Tires are BFG KO2s 215/70R16, those are King Wheels rims. The front lift is achieved by Torsion bars and we did also get new lower control arms and some ball joints. The rear has one extra leaf spring added and the whole spring is re-tensioned. New SuperPro shocks replaced all around. The shocks are almost a must for those Hiaces as they make huge difference and help a lot with the highway stability.
