The bike is in the grey box in the first and last frame of the video. We put it on trains and in taxis 😎 it was pretty heavy and not much fun. Since this trip I switched to a lighter fabric case rather than a hard case 👍🏻

Lol I'm on a binge now watching your vids, also unsure about getting a brompton or gravel/cross bike for my trip in Japan, never used a Brompton but they look super fun, i just saw they're doing carbon wheels now for them, a possible upgrade?
@JohnBr0
@JohnBr0 Ай бұрын
haha maybe carbon rims one day. Would like to go tubelss if poss. Bromptoning around Japan would be a lot of fun, especially if you get the seatpost hugger from Eerder Metal - then you can carry a front and rear bag. Loads of space and super easy. :)

@JohnBr0 Yes, I saw this guy's shop mentioned in another video for after sales market, what a craftsman though fairly eye watering price for a tricked out fold up, that said the 20" option did start to open my eyes to the possibilities of Bromptoning...

Wow, glad i stumbled on this one, great trip and I'm sure some wonderful memories. I aim to fly into Japan on Tuesday with no real plan, still to decide if i land and start in Osaka or Tokyo. One consideration is bike shops, I'll be leaving the roady at home. I saw blue lug and heard others rate it, did you pick up a bike there, or just some bags/accessories?
@JohnBr0

Bike is in the hardcase in the first and last frame. Blue lug was amazing. Grab a rinko bag from there so you can get your bike on the trains.

@JohnBr0 ah missed that thanks for the response to this and the other comment, will be sure to check out BL then. Yes, the rinko is on my check list, just the front wheel and you're good for boarding is what I've taken from another video on the tube. Thanks again and happy riding!

Hello, I'm looking into bike touring Japan for awhile and am unsure whether I should bring my camp cooking equipment or not. I see you guys were cooking your own food. I'm wondering if you think the cost savings were worth the weight. Great vid!

I still maintain that the best ramen I’ve ever eaten was the one I cooked myself on a beach in Japan using my little stove and ti pot after we bought all the ingredients at a supermarket! It was definitely nice to be able to fall back on. But the amount of sushi and onigiri you can eat means we didn’t really need it. Not too sure on the cost savings - Japan is very cheap now if you have USD. ❤️ have an amazing trip!!

Beside the bike is nice, how is the ride? Forgiving? Easy pedalling? Fast compared to the commercial brands?
@JohnBr0
@JohnBr0 3 ай бұрын
Yeah sorry! This was a day after it arrived and it poured with rain for a few days so I had hardly ridden it at this point. It’s devilishly quick and incredibly comfortable, I just don’t want to get off it. I did a RETUL bike fit before the purchase to make it all fit perfectly so it feels really snug all around. I don’t have too much to compare it too - I am coming from a Lynskey CX bike and it’s kinda like night and day as that guy weighs about 22lb. I’ve ridden a few allied road bikes and they felt a lot more aggressive and unforgiving. The enve bounces around on the bumps, but my position on the bike makes it a lot less of an issue and it’s less aggressive than most. I’ve knocked 16 seconds off my local park lap time in the last 2 weeks ❤
