Wow I have a First Generation 640 Centennial I bought in 1989. The serial number starts with CEN. Thanks to gun scribe Wiley Clapp. S&W was flooded with requests. They omitted the orginal grip safety. Now we have many variations of this Ionic revolver. Thanks Now I need to buy yet another version 👍 BTW Ruger makes a LCR with an internal hamner in 9mm that used moon clips.

I got a BT-100 but it’s similar enough to say how good of a gun 99’s are.

Beautiful snubby. Have the 627 and love it. That’s for OWB carry with the fat cylinder. Model 19 carry comp for EDC. Underwood 125 gr XTP will put down just about anything.

Love mine. Had it for many years now. Heavy lil thing.

It’s a cool gun. The pop up barrel is a neat design. Yeah it is heavy for its small size.

Good job on vid..I just bought a 42 yesterday. I agree with your thought processes of practice ammo grains being similar to your carry rounds and shooting sone of those as well. I pocket carry and own the 43,43X and 48 as well.
@FieldStrip3572 күн бұрын
It is hard to go wrong with a Glock. The Glock 42 is one of my favorite carry guns. The Trijicon night sights, Talon Grips and ETS magazines make it an “even better” carry gun IMHO.

Can you fit that in your pocket?
@FieldStrip3573 күн бұрын
Yes. Check out our video on pocket carry guns. We demonstrate this toward the end of the video. You can if it’s the right pants or shorts.
@efrey19112 күн бұрын
It’s perfect for pocket carry since there’s no hammer spur to snag on anything.

I have a Kimber. A great gun. But why on Earth would anyone want a 1911 in 9mm. That is an inferior cartridge to the 45. By any measure...
@FieldStrip3572 күн бұрын
A 1911 chambered in 9mm is not for everyone.

You can do it without the wrench a lot faster, just need to break in spring. Big oof on the speed

We have a few other shorts posted where I elect not to use the tool. This particular Kimber has a sharp edge on the plug so if you have the tool handy it’s a bit easier on the hands. Thanks for watching!

How did you remove the casings from the moon clip. When I did it I bent the moon clips
@FieldStrip35710 күн бұрын
The trick is getting the first empty out. After that, the rest are removed even easier. They make special tools for this you can buy or you can just get an empty 3006 case or something similar and put it inside the empty casings to get a better grip as to not bend your moon clips. You’ll hold your thumb over the empty round’s base while pulling outward. Hope this helps.

Would you consider this to be better than a Kimber K6S?
@FieldStrip35710 күн бұрын
That’s a great question. I would have to get my hands on a K6XS first to give you a good comparison.

Nice I’ve got mine on my hip right now. But I changed the grips out to altamont rosewood grips
@FieldStrip35711 күн бұрын
Which Altamont grips did you put on your 640? I was pleasantly surprised at how well this one handles the magnum loads.
@peter_d11 күн бұрын
@@FieldStrip357 i got the rosewood basket weave with the silver medallion. They make it look really nice but do not help with recoil. It’s a bear to shoot hot loads with the wood grips. Much nicer to look at though
@FieldStrip35711 күн бұрын
They look really nice. I think wood grips with some red in them look really nice on stainless guns.

I use Barami hip grips on my 640 & 60. For discreet carry they’re really nice.

prior to 2000 when i worked as a bouncer in technoclubs in europe i carried 2 babies always with sellier et bellot ammo.this is in western europe.mostley carried one in my vest pocket (secret compartment closed by velcro ) and the second one on my ankle holster. later i sold one but kept my factory engraved one with mother of pearl scales.that was basically my grandmothers gun.

I found one used at my LGS for $700 and it is super clean and the DA trigger is 2 lbs. SA trigger pull is 2.5 lbs. The wood was perfect but I put on some rubber grips. It’s beautiful and one of my favorites now.
@FieldStrip35713 күн бұрын
You did very well to get one for that price. It’s hard to beat a S&W Performance Center trigger job. And it only gets better as you shoot it more. Cheers.

I have a 617 no dash Lew Horton model with combat grips six shooter. It has never been fired lol but I clean all of my other revolvers just like you. Ballistol is second to none in my opinion. It does wonders on wood stocks and wood presentation cases.
