Here’s the explanation When PD picks a car for a spec race, use the spec car. This has happened multiple times, if you’re not in the spec car you cannot compete. Now are they trying to drive a point home to us before an update? Maybe But if you’re not in the spec car you won’t compete

Doesn't matter, which car, which built etc etc. Anything close to 400pp with comfort soft will do the job. Key to have full customize suspension and set up for off camber in the 3rd sector. And put a front splitter and rear wing. Yes you loose big on the straights, but gain 3 seconds in the off camber corners!

if you use the full custom manual transmission equipped it'll lowr the pp even lower.

I did try that, but it didn't work well for me. This reminds me, there was a Daily Race a while back where the custom manual transmission was the better choice on the GR Yaris. 😅

Another note on the gearbox thing; we wouldn't have this set of problems if they hadn't "removed" gearing from the performance point calculations. Also, it favors circumstances where the original engine choice revs particularly high and the swap doesn't, as this results in even shorter "effective gearing" for the swapped vehicle, thus a lower top speed, thus smaller PP. An easy fix would be to import the transmission from the vehicle the engine is from, but they probably tied that too directly to the chassis file to be practical.

Are you talking about how adjusting, for example, 3rd gear, would change the performance points? We had that back at the start of GT7, and people found out how flawed it was. There was one time where adjusting a gear ratio by 0.001 in a Gr. 4 car shot up the points up by 30... and then people eventually found out how to use the gear ratios to break the Tomahawk X. That would be interesting to try... we'll see if they do anything about it in this week's update

@MistahMCA Yeah, had that system stayed in place (and they limited the gear ratio ranges similarly to GT1-6 to at least partially mitigate the really broken configs) we wouldn't have low PP swap monsters, at least not to the same extent.

I was wondering what the hell was going on!? I was like, oh, it's a tuned race, so I tuned. I know I'm horrible at tuning, but I was like, I'm not that bad! I'm sure I can swap, but I didn't know that's what needs to be done.

It's silly haha. The Kei cars need the engine swap, custom transmission, and lower-rev Engine parts to break the Performance Points. Some of the older muscle cars break themselves as you upgrade it 😅 And then there's some where you need extremely specific parts and downforce values to break it... Someone was able to break the Huracan that has the Chiron swap - fully maxxed, but it's under 600PP. 🤣

Great video Mistah and fascinating explanation from Pingu. I spent ages experimenting with tunes for this race. Crazy thing, I already had a engine swapped Jimny but tuned above 400 PP, and so I decided to start over and bought a brand new engine and body from GT Auto. This gives you a new untuned K14C-Swift engine but the PP was well over 400, far higher than it was before, and with no other tuning parts, and I don't understand why? Worth looking into this, maybe 'replacing' the engine corrects the PP calculation, or it's just another thing that's broken 😅

If you're at a fresh car, just did a swap, and the PP is over 400 I'm guessing the car is still on it's original transmission which has a higher top speed than the custom transmissions (~172kmh iirc) PP in this stage will be lower than when you put all parts on because acceleration up to ~172kmh is slower 😊

@@DstinctPingu Cheers for the reply, I repeated the build and I realise now it's because the new engine without the port polish, stroke up and bore up has a higher PP. I couldn't understand at first, for the daily race, and ended up just starting from scratch with a new Jimny. But as you explain these tunes lower the PP too, thx again 😊

Alsace seems to have a way with meme combos featuring road cars. Remember the Samba Bus one-make at the full layout? And yes, this is why there is a long way before full tuning should be allowed in any Daily/GTWS combos. When the system can be bent via exploiting a single setting, the (already) shaky balance gets shattered...

Yes, I recall some Nissan Fairlady Z Daily Race As where you could change the car settings, but not their power and/or weight. It was a decent system in theory, but people still found the go-to meta right away...

Such an annoying track car combination. The car's turning ability differs a lot when you applies the brake vs when you release the brake, and so it takes quite a long time to practice. In a way, the developers are just forcing us to drive the car in an unnatural way. Additionally, the church building corner (the first of the second sector) is tricky as well. It's very easy to turn in early and have to adjust - which adjustment in the middle of the corner is one of the unnaturalness this car possess. Anyway, I ended up with a top 5% ranking on automatic, but I don't really enjoy this compared to the Super Formula last week.
