I’m a country player and when I started learning this tune, with out thinking I used hybrid picking, and to be honest to straight pick it at the speed he’s going, and do it clean would be almost impossible. Josh Smith did a thing for Primera Guitar were he talks about Scuttle Buttin an plays some of it. Watch he’s right hand. He does it right, which means clean an in time.Its really easy to see where he uses the middle finger to pull up with

I’ve always wondered about your tone - what’s your chain look like? Do the hex oils make a big difference for you? Cheers

All good points, sir. Saw him years back up close. My very stoic wife had tears rolling down her face. He doesn't play the guitar. He is the guitar. Or maybe I should say the guitar is him. And his band loves him is why they're so tight.

Man. I used to have one and foolishly sold it off, thinking I wouldn't need its feature set and kept on using my Captor. But I have to get it again. It is THE best in its class. Absolutely unbelievable.

Hi....I'm thinking to buy this amp...But i have e doubt: 50W are tube like power or similar to a solid state amp??? Is it possible to use this amp in live situation with no sort of problem and with a good headroom???? Compliment for your playing.

This is interesting. I was about to get some skateboard grip tape but that rubber stuff will be better (would rather avoid wearing a hole in my pants).

I've always used solid state but I put a tube base pedal in the effects loop with no gain

All these guitar specs and eveguitar I try to buy is a. Nightmare they all sound different and at home it's so different, my mind is not set up for these guitar specs I cannot make any sense what specs do. For your music it's a bit BS imho we all play mediocre....s9 the gear is actually not important....

Sweet! I have a JBL D130 (no F) in a 65 Ampeg Gemini 2 that came with a 15”. I guess the F version has ribs and the no F doesn’t. Whatever that would mean to the sound. Sounds fantastic and Damn fine playin’!

Im also lefty player & I believe all you will ultimately achieve by playing a guitar upside down like Hendrix is visual, not tonal. Jimis sound has often been copied by running the pedals he always used on stage through a cranked up big amp set up with of course, a Strat type guitar. In the studio he would use all types of effects which made him sound unique . A lot of older players love that flipped Strat look of Hendrix....look at the fashion of lefty necks used on guitars. I hope the look makes you happy. For us lefty players, the general lack of choice of left hand guitars is a reality & most of us do not like playing guitars upside down. Cheers.
I have to say I am really impressed by the way you are dissecting/analyzing this beautiful song ; My favorite version from Jimi was the RAH version...his tone on that one has haunted me and laughed at me cruelly for several decades now. I look forward to these lessons.

I've been looking for a reversed pickguard for a while, thanks for clearing this up! 👌

I’ve been considering using a right handed Tele bridge and pickup on my lefty Tele for the tone difference especially at the bridge. The thought being, the same thing you’re hearing on the Strat will tame the overly bright bridge pickup known on Telecasters. Never seen it done though? I use a right angled cable for my flipped righty Strat. You will have to just settle on the best spot to rest your arm between/around tone knobs and is kinda the deal breaker.

Definitely a difference. Could it be the pickup height or angle, or magnet height? I've never heard that a pickup is voiced for high and low strings.

The Blues Junior was the Blues Junior killer; every version sounds like an Amazon cardboard box with a speaker in it. The billm mods do help immensely, but it was not engineered well right out of the gate. Your own mileage may vary.

I'm a lefty player, and loved this test. I bought a right handed Squier to convert to a Hendrix style lefty, but my right handed kid fell in love with that guitar before I ever got to do it!

That G and B string sounds a bit ”grittier/louder” when the pickups are ”reversed”. I like that sound. Also on the knobs, those are pretty edgy from the factory, you could sand the top edge down to make it more smooth. That plus a right angled cable and standing w/ strap could work well. You fight need to have the guitarstrap higher than you’re used to have it. How does it feel when soloing in like E minor or A minor?
@Texasbluesalley20 күн бұрын
With the saddles adjusted right, it feels perfectly normal from a fretting perspective.
@picksalot121 күн бұрын
When the low strings have the longest "string length" to the Tuners, they have a higher overall tension necessary to bring them up to the same pitch, and the reverse is true for the high strings. Consequently, the Bass strings feel stiffer and the Treble strings feel looser, and this Physics is usually better for the same gauge strings. This is why Grand Pianos and Harps have long string lengths for the Bass strings and short ones for the Treble strings.

I’ve also solved the volume and tone knob issue as well. My forearm was constantly changing the volume and tone. I ended up installing the thumb wheel pots and knobs you would find on a Fender Jazzmaster. Works perfectly!
