I have a 'Friends' closet at home I call the Storage unit! Since I will be doing similar to you soon - I am decluttering/getting rid of things! But I know I will have a space like yours in my van - it is inevitable! LOL! Either way, it is YOUR home make it comfy for you! I'm old, I will still need a potty in mine!

Finally some one mentions opening up the rear from the inside with a installed button. i have not been able to find a mention of that. Were did you get it or are there some instructions? Or is it just so simple any mechanic can do it? It just about the only thing that worries me. I don't know how well I would do rolling in and out of the side from the inside.

I would have gone with an hybrid suv with a similar setup. But being an engineer myself I really admire what you've done here. Hats off.

Next time you should plan the build before you begin. That way it wont be so cobbled together.

I want to get a sailboat or build one exactly like this. One of the many things I want in life is a sailboat that's not an expensive luxury yacht

I’m an architect, 30 years. Although (ironically) I’ve designed dozens of large custom homes, my personal passion has always been the efficient use of space and the reuse of materials. On the whole, your project is impressive, no question. But two things really hit me: first off, you didn’t just fit up this bus; you transformed it. You did the hard work-that no one will ever see-to leapfrog the negatives into positives, such as the clerestory. Addressing an annoyance becomes a feature-but only achieved with a lot of effort. The second is your dedication to use and/or reuse found materials; you devalued your sweat equity to create something far more valuable than what could otherwise be purchased. Regrettably, you’ll find during your career that few, if any, clients share your values for reuse, etc. But don’t let that deter you; the world needs this type of thinking, now more than ever. Well done.

The original owner should have ditched the wife instead of the van. Damn, can’t believe how married people can be so selfish with one another.

Wow, $65000 for your home on wheels is extraordinary value. No doubt there many hours of hard work put into the build, but that makes it even more satisfaction when you reflect back on it. I would've sacrificed the dishwasher for a larger conventional fridge. BUT, I'm strange, I love washing dishes. It's so uncomplicated that my mind wanders & many a time, answers just come to me solving problems that I've poured over for months.

I would have put the "living" space upstairs to enjoy that bird's eye view while awake. Also, drop the height of the entry level to accommodate a cozier nest-like feeling for the sleeping area while adding to the "living" space's overall openness.
