Hi. I'm really enjoying your vids; It would be great if you could add some details about the wind (speed & direction) on these sessions, because I'd be fascinated to see how you match up to the sails/board size.

Really nice natural commentary. I've been baffled with this for a long time. It's really difficult to jump high. I've noticed Marino Gil has the best take-off. He does something during the ramp which allows him to go extremely high. On the other hand, after the ramp, during the ascending part I find Koster has the best wind utilization allowing him to gain significant height from the wind which not many people do. Just some important variables mentioned by Lucas and perhaps some to add. - Speed: the more the better - Angle of attack relative to wave: board facing completely the wave is ideal - Wave: height the more the better, steepness probably the more the better unless its about to break and makes a barrel. - Upwind/downwind angle relative to wind (across the wind is probably optimal, perhaps a smidgen downwind). That's why some people say lifting the rail up is also beneficial Board vertical angle during jump is probably best at around 80-85%, almost vertical but not quite. Also for backloops or any other types of rotations delaying the rotation is important so that kinetic energy is really squeezed into ascend. This takes away from rotational momentum later that's why excellent technique (obv not easy) is essential here.

Very interesting talk. There is so many ways to do every manoeuvres in windsurfing depending on the shape of the tchop and you have to take a decision in less than 2 sec. Nothing is given in windsurfing.

Start using a hip harness. Convert a waist harness in 5 minutes with rope. Yes, rope. Dont listen to people who comment on private parts. Using Throchanter Mayor (google) for load transfer will free up your boyd, start sailing with your legs and jump a lot higher. Use alout longer lines and get those lines together. Use stiff lines in these lengths. Duotone or prefereably old orange North ones. Do not look at other pros's. Start thinking for yourselves. Enjoy.

Start using assymetric fotstrap settings. Riding in front, jumping to the back. The boards are better than you know.

I try to press the rigg down in the ark. So bodyweight actually gets height. The ark must be perfect. If the ark flattens just when you jump, go for a high forward instead. Be prepared. Have a plan.

Thanks Lucas. I am still a little puzzled on the fin setup. Are you using the front fins on the quad with an angle? And what is your experience with 0° and up to 2°… Thanks, Axel

Great advice. Id like to add its worth tayloring your quiver to your spot. Its tempting to go for full on wave gear when you might be better on freewave Inbetweener boards and sails. The waves only get decent in my spot when its 4-4.5 weather. So ive got a 4.0 super hero and 4.5 super session HD and a 5.0 super session. The super sessions are lighter and better in bump and jump. And the super heros are stronger but heavier for the bigger days ..

Great video. Thanks a lot. I have to say i was surprised to see you in the grip 3 in chile while it would be ideal conditions for the grip 4 in my idea. But I guess you have to make choices. I personally preferred when the grip had 5 fin boxes. As an intermediate user, I find it great to have the same board and play with the fins depending on where I go and also on my own improvement. I probably wouldn’t know which one to buy now and would choose another brand with 5 boxes. But it’s a personal choice. Also because I try to minimize the amount of gear I carry around. Cheers anyway. Thanks for the video

@@andreslarrain2790 grip 3 is more for onshore but still performs well in good waves compared to the old mamba as it holds the rail very good.

Great advice! Yes a carbon skinny boom changes everything, and setting up the footstraps properly is so important. I prefer ~80% carbon content for masts - cheaper than 100%, and a more forgiving ride. Winds are a bit light where I (65kg) am, so my quiver is 3.7/4.2/5.0 on a 86L freewave (I also have an 81L wave board for really good days!).

In my opinion the former format of the double elimination was way much fairer...a rider who had one bad heat in the single elimination could make good for it in the double elimination...but is seems that pwa is so short on money so they focus on producing more spectacular video/ foto footage running slalom X to attract sponsors and survive financially...with the cost of equipment going through the roof, less and less young people practice windsurfing and the windsurfing market seems to be shrinking big time...not a good outlook in my opinion...😢
@LucasMeldrumK90
@LucasMeldrumK90 Ай бұрын
Double elim with the new 4 man heats would be the most fair. Problem is they added a lot of categories; youth, masters etc. + slalom X but have not added more days so there's less time to fit everything in.
@Nico_GER7
@Nico_GER7 Ай бұрын
@@future_horizon Actually, a lot of riders requested for this dingle with repechage format (without the half double we had in Pozo). You have to understand that the PWA is mainly riders driven. It‘s easy to always point the fingers at „the people up there“. It’s not really about the time. Last year there was slalom and single + double. However, the wave sailors request was to try the dingle. All the best 🤙

The fact the double is cutoff until the 9th place is completely baffling and unfair imo. Because the quarters to the final in the double wouldn't take more than 2-3hrs I suppose. At least they could have it open and if they can't go all the way to the end that's fine. Marcillio could potentially lose a world title for this.
