What a delightful and civil debate! I know from experience that Dinesh D'Souza is a scholar of very high rank. He always rises to Hitch's level in depth and breadth of knowledge. But he spoke of the one thing that none there could know of, and that's why Christopher Hitchens "won" the debate, if anyone can be said to have won it. Hitchens won because he is dead, so he has either known for the past 13ish years, or were he to be revived now he would think it's the next morning or evening since he last closed his eyes. IMO Hitchens has gone back to stardust, or perhaps he's already been reconstituted. I spent much of this June 1-2, 2024 on another one of my Hitchens binges. This discussion was a pleasure to end it with.

The existential threat to human races has come and gone multiple times, which is why humanity is now only the one race. Tribalism is rampant, and to say it's interwoven into our existence is an understatement. Let's delete the implied bigotry of racism from casual language before more misunderstandings repeat themselves, and carefully define our terms..

Unfortunately both, Christianity and Atheism seem to have originated from Greek like mythologies n fell into Hindu n Buddist mythology, which are the two claws of the same vulture. One with tons of gods other with none. A jew Jesus preaching Christianity? Oh Really? WL Craig talks in circles Sam tries to fit a square in that circle. Wow!!!😂 Shakir Mumtaz USA

@@shakirmumtaz1 What? Do you not understand that people can have many and varied interests? If I eat cream doughnuts because I really like them that does not mean that because I am an atheist, they influence my atheism. You seem to have a problem with causal effects and non sequiturs! One can see that one religion is better than another religion whilst believing both to be false.

@@shakirmumtaz1 Yes. I am right in what I say. I am not saying anything controversial, just explaining what atheism is. You are plainly WRONG in what you think atheism is. The dissonance lies firmly inside your head buddy! You appear to be claiming that atheists are disgruntled and that's why they don't believe in gods? If so, that is a laughably deluded argument that shows a total lack of ability to get outside of your own mindset and empathise with another mindset. Atheists can do this.

On moral, by definition the judgement by any person on any action: - Here is where Craig is right: "On an atheistic view, human beeings are just accidental byproducts of nature, which have evolved relatively recently, on an infinitesimal speck of dust called the planet earth, and which are doomed to perish individually and collectively in a relatively short time. On atheism, its hard to see any reason to think that human wellbeing is objectively good." I cited him to highlight how spot on Craig knows, what the reality is he had to face when he not hid behind a believe. - Here is where Harris is right: Humanity could easily find a broader supported consensus on moral topics, if not beeing hindered by and cought in absolutistic claims of moral values given and demanded by power lusting religions.

i think the idea of right and wrong can be looked at without god just as well as they can with god. but you must first find out who god is and if you look in the bible for god you will not find him for in the bible yehweh is god when you search the old text that were the bible comes from you find out that yehweh is not god but an elohim waring god without many moral thoughts and contradiction are many in the bible because of mans agenda of control greed power and wealth. There forth you can not use the bible to find truth but only to find wrong

It almost never fails…when pressed at the highest level of thinking and the most direct line of questioning and critique, guys like Sam Harris, Christopher Hitchens and the like, fall apart intellectually and scientifically, deviate from the strict topics and go off into essentially how their very surface level understanding of theology doesn’t make sense and thus, must not be true. It almost never fails. The ideas of the naturalist and atheist never hold up.

What a perfect example of what delusion does to an individual. What those great atheists do so wonderfully, is point out the obvious flaws in religious thinking in an entertaining way. What the religious 'thinkers' must then do, is come up with the verbal gymnastics to justify the obviously unjustifiable. That's where the depth of 'understanding' of theology comes from. Another way to describe it in the Christian sense would be lying for Jesus!

I do not need subject matter knowledge to argue against any onmi... god claims, they are self evidently incoherent to anyone with a grasp of real, rather than religious logic. So how about start by telling me why any god that wishes to be known and believed to exist by all is so geographically dependant and requires in depth interpretation of its supposed words to the extent that even believers in it disagree on many aspects of precisely what those words mean.
