I meant to say "heat shrink" not heartstrings. My darn phone thinks it knows everything, but I didn't check it before sending, so my fault.
@johnclayton21019 күн бұрын
Good crimping and wire cutting/stripping tool costs about $15 in the US. Make sure connectors also have "adhesive" inside the heartstrings which is basically hot melt glue. To make sure the exposed wire goes into the connector all the way, cut off the excess. I would not feel safe out on a big lake our offshore in the ocean with termination you made here. I am glad you use marine grade, stranded and tinned wire. I also appreciate you are trying to help. But don't skimp when it comes to wiring. Especially if a cheap tool is all it takes to do the job correctly.

Great video! Thanks! I never turn off the water after I finish using the washer. However, in the included manual, (page 12), it recommends shutting off the water when the machine is not in use to reduce the risk of leaks. What do you think?
@KirbyVandivort2 ай бұрын
Some people have a job where they have a restricted parking lot and their employer gives them these hang tags that they hang on their rear view mirror. If you look closely on those hang tags on the back side of them down near the bottom in small print, it usually tells you to remove the hang tag when driving. I suspect that the same people that would shut the water off after every time they use the washing machine would be the same people that would remove the hang tag from their rear view mirror every time they get off work of needing and put it back on the next morning.

Isn't the charging curve and "trickle charge" for LiFePo4 much different that lead acid? How will your car know to adjust the charging profile to the improved 12 volt battery?
@KirbyVandivort4 ай бұрын
I'm not an expert on the internals of the battery, but my suspicion is that for the drop in replacement type battery such as this that they use a step up converter or something similar to increase the voltage to the appropriate level for the lithium ion battery characteristics versus the lead acid.

This was back in November 2022 and I believe the asking price was around $15,000. My expectation, if I'm remembering correctly, was to try to get it for $11-12k but we obviously didn't make it to that point.

@KirbyVandivort Жыл бұрын
This is a really hard question to answer. Due to differences in weather temperature (leading to differences in power usage) it is impossible to say how much it changed to overall electric bill. The total bill "felt" like it went down but I honestly can't quantify it.

Is normal to hear the split transformers with loud electric noise?
@KirbyVandivort Жыл бұрын
I can't say specifically, but usually if you have humming around electrical components like this it can be a sign that there is a connection that is more loose than it should be (which is likely generating more heat and current draw than it should be).
@yoyopg123 Жыл бұрын
Does it matter which transformer goes on which cable?

As long as you get the two hot legs (and not a ground cable) it does not matter.

what is the solar regulator for? why transformers in the box?
@KirbyVandivort Жыл бұрын
The "solar regulator" is the big brains of the whole thing. Each micro inverter has small brains, but is controlled by the solar regulator. The solar regulator looks at the load on the system and will tell the micro inverters to turn off or on depending on whether sufficient load exists. The split-core transformers in the box is how the solar regulator measures the current load on the system.

And it really works! We've been using it multiple times a day for the past month or so and finally had the realization that we needed to share this with the world. Be sure to choose stirrers that are both: a) longer than your longest knife you want to keep in it, and b) at least as tall as the container/vase that you are using. If the stirrers stick up a bit above the edge of the container it isn't a big deal.
