I just discovered your channel tonight, so I've subscribed. I have 6 squirrels that come to my back garden, I feed them every day, I also feed multiple small and medium sized birds, two crows and one seagull, so I'm not short of visitors to my garden, I feed my squirrrels various nuts including Pecans, AImonds, Brazil nuts, Monkey nuts, Walnut Halves, Cashews and peanuts, two of the squirrels will eat from my hand, the rest are still a bit skittish, but are getitng closer. One of the squirrels has dicovered that if the back door is closed and he taps on it, I'll open it if I'm in the kitchen, I'm just waiting for the other 5 to discover that fun fact and my life will never be the same again lol, they are wonderful creatures, they dart around the lawn like nothing on earth and the ones that take the nuts from my hand are very gentle when they place their paws on my hand while taking the nuts, I don't mind the squirrels helping themselves to the seed that I put out for the birds as I always have plenty, I love your channel, keep up the great work. Ray

The circus reference is quite appropriate. They are natural acrobats. As well as not being shy. The backyard squirrels have discovered that jumping on the screen door and shaking it brings out the food! They like their hooman food provider. I'm a sucker for critters.

I have an opposite question. I can’t keep the birds away from the squirrels food. LOL We have a large amount of starlings here and they’re pigs. One can gobble up in seconds what it takes a squirrel 5 minutes to eat. At least the squirrels put up a fight when the birds try to scare them away. LOL
@NaturallyCourtneyChannel27 күн бұрын
Lol! I can totally imagine starlings doing that 😂 I guess they’re keeping the squirrels on their toes!

I put out seeds for birds (finches, mourning doves, cardinals) and squirrels come by to eat. I "bribe" them with nuts to leave the bird seed alone. They enjoy the nuts and come back for more. I love the squirrels too - there's plenty for everybody!

@NaturallyCourtneyChannelАй бұрын
Oh no! I hope he doesn’t eat them too often!😳😄
@Cereal_Killer007Ай бұрын
@@NaturallyCourtneyChannel Why is that? Does it hurt them? When I ran out of peanuts the squirrel ran up to me asking for food and tootsie rolls was all I had so I gave him a few and he loved it. Since then ive been giving him one every other day
@NaturallyCourtneyChannelАй бұрын
Well, I’m no expert on exactly what can happen if they eat tootsie rolls, but I do know that the ingredients are not the best for them. Also, chocolate can be toxic to them, so thankfully you gave him vanilla 👍 That is very sweet that you like to give your squirrel treats though!☺️

@@NaturallyCourtneyChannel After patiently waiting 15 minutes at a time for a whole day the squirrels now eat out of my hand! My dream came true LoL...When im outside they run in circles around me to try to play so I act like im chasing them, almost like old Frankenstein movie chase HaHaHa but we have fun. I thought about letting them inside the house because they wanna come inside but I decided against that because I dont want them to lose their survival skills in case something happens to me.

Aww I love that! I have a couple of them that will eat out of my hand and it’s awesome! I am so attached to them🥰

I do my best to feed the birds, not the squirrels. I live in a green enclave that is part of a city. Rats are a real problem in the whole metroplex- a problem I don't want to have! I keep birdseed off the ground by using catch-basins under my feeders. My feeders are the tube-type. They have springboard style perches that are meant to close if a squirrel tries to climb onto them. That helps, but squirrels still get some seeds. One must give squirrels credit: they're always going to prevail, to some extent!
@NaturallyCourtneyChannelАй бұрын
That is an interesting set up. Yes, you’re right…the squirrel’s superpower is definitely tenacity! 😂

Thank you very much, very nice vid and informative. But I find the music quite annoying, especially when you want us to listen to the squirrel, with loud background music: counterproductive!
@NaturallyCourtneyChannelАй бұрын
Noted. The music will remain as it creates the vibe, but I totally understand if it’s not your cup of tea. Can’t please everyone. I’ll look into lowering the music volume when I want you to hear animals or something in the future 👍

Years ago I lived in the woods in the mountains in a very rural area. We had lots of tree squirrels there and lots of trees with various nuts. One morning in winter, I went to my closet to get my boots which I always wore to go out and feed the horses. I started to put on a boot and noticed something didn't feel right in my boot. I turned it upside down and out fell 3 little acorns. Somehow, a squirrel had managed to come up through our floor and into my closet to hide his acorns. I was overwhelmed by Mr. Squirrel's cuteness! These days I still live in the woods and feed the squirrels sunflower seeds and other treats, they seem to really appreciate it.
