It still amazes me how Shimano insists on these Big Pit cranes when people are interested in more compact reels, medium sized, reliable and easy to use, with 5500 Spool, NOT 14000 wheels, with features like Baitrunner, and with automatic trigger the Bail Arm when we turn the handle, NOT manually, because it's disgusting. In the near future, Shimano will develop a chassis for these Big Pit cranes to replace the rods and the spools of the reels will have the index in inches, like car rims because of the dimensions and the barrows for transporting fishing gear will be used just to transport these Big Pit cranes, because we can't put anything else next to them. An ideal reel would be the Baitrunner X-Aero 4000 FA, but the 4000 Spool should be replaced with a 5500 Spool. Or Ultegra Ci4+ Medium 5500 XTD/XTC with Baitrunner and automatic trigger the Bail Arm when turn the handle. Goodbye Shimano, you have become disgusting.

I've still got my 2007 Catana XT 1300 Power Pole, it's quite heavy at full length but it's very strong, I also have a 2008 Technium XTA 950 Margin pole too, love it! shame they don't make them any more, if any sections broke, I'd be gutted

I have a 3000 Stradic, 4000 GT and 2 Stradic CI4+ 4000’s, the fighting drag is the most incredible design and the fine adjustments unbeatable! That’s why all of my reels are Shimano fighting drag, you can’t go back once you’ve used these 😎

What would be the best line for really looong casting. I’m using spider wire on my smaller reels (2000,2500,5000) and I’m casting pretty long with it, but with this reel it’s a brand new ballgame

Higher breaking strength so absorbs the shock when u cast, line won’t snap easily, also helps against breaking off on rocks/ reef etc

Ich frag mich nur hätte man den Bügel nicht so wie bei der aero xtc in dunkel machen können. Das hätte der rolle besser gestanden. Kommt dann bestimmt wieder in 8 Monaten raus dann kann man ja noch mal Satz neue kaufen 😂 das Geschäft ankurbeln.

Much of what he mentions is marketing BS but by far and away the biggest screw up with this reel is it lacks a hardened spool lip . That is truly unforgivable.

I'm just starting out Piking again since i was a kid (40 years ago) and have been watching all these videos for tackle, rigs and kit .. but the one thing I cannot find is where to fish. I'm looking for a day ticket type, still water, where i can have space to set up and experiment with ledgering and floating. A fishery that isn't too demanding with weed/trees/underwater obstacles etc where I can gain confidence setting up and maybe even catch a couple. I'm 15 Miles East of Birmingham (Atherstone) so anywhere around Nuneaton, Coventry, Hinkley, Tamworth or Leicester area would be good - can anyone help please? Thanks
