She might be one of my favorite artists ever. I just lover her work. I think I asked before. What’s her name? Mia ? so I can look her up.

Anyone who dismisses talent is a fool that being said. In order to become great you must work hard at it

I love how with pigments you get into science basically becoming a chemist, the store definitely had apothecary vibes- so cool! Also holy cow imagine having a box labeled Arsenic at work

I feel seen. Hello, sister from another mister. So nice to know you exist. From chaos, beauty is born.

That speaks to me. It's beautiful and riotous and it oozes feelings from every square millimeter. To create a piece of such cacophony but have it read as a symphony takes more vision and talent than most of us could ever imagine.

It's actually difficult to find commercial oil paints made from their original pigments anymore because yeah, many of those pigments are toxic. Titanium White, Cadmium Red, certain yellows & greens contain arsenic. imagine a time when you as an artist had to grind these pigments & make your own paints inhaling & touching those substances day in/day out for years. Yikes!

love the song choice for this short!!! goes so well with the paints' personality LOL

@@AnastasiaYGamble I recently brought a 7$ brush and I treat it as my new born child. I cannot imagine having such an expensive brush just laying around 🤣 And holy crap, when prof said those paints looked yummy I was like "nooooooo, don't do it!" 😂

I am very curious about the different influences the various art schools have as they mold their students. I actually have looked at the web sites of 50 of the most prestigious art schools to create a rough data base for skills that I would seek to develop through my self-styled art school curriculum -- I need an atelier -based curriculum highly or deeply anchored in traditional fundamentals. To me I need to hone skills in the basics.Once I have some mastery about how to render snd sketch form, shape in pencil -- ink, charcoal -- and develop black and white skills in a 2nd year -- time is not my progress metric. My metric is skill development and facility, not a predetermined time frame. All this is in keeping with the full acceptance that as an artist I will always be learning based on those strong fundamentals I sm now in quest of -- 2nd year of drawing. I do a daily routine of sketching -- any kind of mark making to loosen and free the movement in my eye-brain-shoulder. I am developing the habit of seeing everything broken down into the basic shapes and forms. I work from online tutorials combined with Udemy and other courses and art tutorial texts (Brent Eviston's The Art and Science of Drawing; Harold Speed's text of a similar title, Bridgman books on drawing with Marshall Vandruff instruction online; (Draftsmen YTube channel), Loomis' books especially Fun With Pencil, Dr. Betty Edwards' books on drawing with the right side of the brain), etc. All of this along with Art History classes (Dr. Travis Lee Clark, att museum sites and their newsletters, lectures that begin with antiquity and is internationally, culturally and historically based. I bring to the experience personal fascinations with Venus in Paradise/Boticelli & DaVinci's drawings to Vermeer's Girl with the Pearl Earring to Picasso's Guernica and the work and spiritual approach of the abstractionists -- Kandinsky, Jawlensky, Paul Keel. Plus, my attitude as I practice and do art from exercises done constantly and repeatedly is to have fun screwing up. So that means my mistakes are my best friends: They are gifts of opportunities that tell me what I need to learn present snd future. AI and reference desk librarians combined with any student-focused web source are helpful. I'm always seeking depth and information about art supplies and I love color and fluid acrylic paint pouring propelled me here onto this stufent path because I could see the difference in skill level and outcomes from watching a wide variety of pourers and mixed media artists, and then I ran into James Gurney (The Artist's,Handbook with Thomas Kincaid his teo nooks on color and lighting). A lot of other moving parts. Keeps it fun! Confidence snd curiosity are my main issues that I support snd foster. It's working with minimal frustration and depression!!

Great info..love the artwork..As far as pigment colors there is nothing like a Cadmium Yellow or a Cad Red..Not Hansa or Arylide ,nor Pyrrole or Vermilion Cadmiums are somewhat now considered harmful in certain US States..So paint companies have produced cadmium free Cadmium acrylics in red and yellow..(yuck!) .But Cads.are so wonderful and saturated ... That's great advice on sanding the color ..

I like the painting. I think its realistic of his face. Very clever the way the face is contrasted with a totally overpainted uniform and yet brought forward. There are massacres on, his dynasty was born in blood. Maybe its an apology.
