I have a cataract injury in one eye and the other eye is excellent and quite clear other than using readers up close such as reading the newspaper. Having the injured eye done and matching the same optical dynamics the good right eye has is the goal. Is this possible and is it successful?

@@stuartsondheimer9729 Thank you Dr. Sir ! for your kind advice. But 13 days ago , I had a surgery of my second eye which was successful, perfect, thank God. When asked the surgeon, he was hesitant & reluctant to tell me despite a thorough examination of both the eyes. Although he is not the one who did previous surgery but, I don't know why. Per your advice I will revisit.

You must never never and never do Cataract surgery in both eyes because the eyes could go BAD like the retinal could be detached, after many years and you will be blind. You will be only LUCKY if you still have one eye with cataract Then, you know that GOD has helped you, if you did only ONE eye.

i have cataracts in both eyes. my right eye has three cataracts and is very cloudy but my left eyes has only one cataracts and not very cloudy. the government pays for what they call, foldable (soft)monofocal intraocular lens then there is another options called. specialty monofocal intraocular lens. Advanced iol calculations via Opticalerence measurement and Analysis Lazer Corneal Topography Lazer Anterior Segment Analysis Lazer Pachymetry Digital Corneal Wavefront Analysis I have a few questions. I was wondering what the difference was from the government paid or the next option above which i will have to pay a total of 452.60 here in Canada. I can afford much more. I would preferr the government paid. I wore bifocal before this.but my distance was not bad. I have had glasses for about five years now and i am 67 years old. I dont like the word Lazer. do I have to have Lazer with government paid for ones. I dont have any eye diseases. I do see floaters. sometimes I will see what is called brain headaches where i may see lightening volts for about half hour and they go away. no detached retna. last time was about two years ago. and two times about 10 years prior. so they checked my eye everything is ok for the proceedure. but which proceedure is less likley to have complications the government paid one or the second one that i have to pay for. is there really much difference? I can see normally farther away and need reading glasses. I want to be able to see perfectly if someone was six inches in front of me and read the signs on the road and all the way as far as the mountains. so basically close up and far awy. but reading glasses for fine print and reading a book is ok.. so will both lens government paid and the ones I have to pay work ok. will the government paid be good enough. for what I want. like why pay for something I dont need. I dont want one eye for distance and then get the second eye for nearness. so would the government paid lens be the same distance be put in both eyes. and the one i have to pay for require a different lens put in both eyes.

Dear BL: Different patients have different corneal curvatures which can affect which treatment is best for them. You should discuss your case with your surgeon. If you are not satisfied with his or her reasoning, then you should get a second opinion from another surgeon and decide which treatments make most sense to you. I hope that this helps. Good luck! Stuart Sondheimer, M.D.

If anyone is considering getting laser eye surgery, please, please think very carefully. The fact is laser eye surgery is extremely dangerous. I've had it done myself and it has ruined my life. Years on, my vision is the worst it has ever been and I am still in pain. In fact, most people who have told me they have had it done, have also had some kinds of problems, many of them serious and life-changing. Research seems to bear this out, suggesting that the majority of patients have some kind of problems. Please take anything you are told by the companies with a pinch of salt. If you are still tempted, make sure you seek advice from an independent optometrist or ophthalmologist who has nothing to gain by you having surgery.

I’ve done my PRK surgery week ago, the first two days was difficult and so many tears, but now after a week I can see good, I could say 80% only week after the surgery which is good results. My doctor told me it may take one month for full recovery but in this point I’m so satisfied with my eyes😌.
