The first mistake someone makes when buying a car from Copart or IAA is thinking they have a SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HELL to actually win one of these auctions. Unless, of course, someone wants to pay as much for a salvaged vehicle as they would that same used, undamaged vehicle? There is obvious evidence of "Shill Bidding" in these auctions, artificially driving up the final price of these vehicles when they're sold. Why someone in Ghana would want to buy a completely totalled 2014 Toyota Tacoma is beyond my comprehension. The fact that these companies even allow International bidding is complete and utter nonsense. I need a part for my Honda. I think I'll look for it at an auction yard in Saudia Arabia, even though I live in the USA. Makes so much sense, right? Oh, and don't get me started on how Copart likes to relist, or "reassign", vehicles for sale after the live auction has ended and the highest bidder has already won the vehicle. Then, Copart will send an email to the winning bidder, and all previous bidders, saying: "We're Sorry, This Lot Has Been Reassigned and All Previous Bids Have Been Canceled. The Lot(vehicle) Will Be Reauctioned Starting At The Previous Highest Bid." Despite the fact that the vehicle was listed as a "Pure Sale" in which the vehicle gets sold to the highest bidder regardless of the final price, there is no "reserve" price to be met. Yet another way of them fucking people over when the vehicle doesn't sell for the amount they(Copart), or the insurance company, wanted. Fucking scam. Don't waste your time or money here at these auctions. You are buying someone else's problem.

I hit a Boulder in the road last night along with 3 other cars and copart wants to assess it today for insurance. I want my car. They want my car. What do I do? My airbags deployed but with a reset my prius is drivable again but the Boulder hit the sub frame.

Can we talk about how Copart allows international/foreign bidders to participate in these online vehicle auctions? I'm not sure what someone in Ghana would want with a 14 year old Ford Explorer? The transport, import fees, and tariffs surely must cost more than the vehicle is worth. Nonetheless, I see bids coming in from Kazakhstan, Mumbai, UAE. I could understand if it was a rare/exotic vehicle like a McLaren or Ferarri. But..a Ford Explorer?? A Dodge Durango?!!? How does someone in a third world country even acquire a vehicle they purchased from a Copart auction yard on United States soil?? Because, I could be wrong, but I didn't see an option to select a cargo plane or ship as a means of vehicle transport. As if competition with the locals and car flippers in this geographical area was not enough, I now have to compete with an Arab oil baron halfway across the globe?!? You fucking kidding me? Or, are these international bids actually just Copart employees masquerading as someone from another country in an attempt to artificially inflate the final sale price of the vehicle(s)? Either way...not a good look, Copart. Extremely disgusted and disappointed by this once American company. Just another tale of greed and corruption.

It’s dumb, because you can buy one for 450k mint low miles..sure it might cost 10k to get say 150hp out of the 550 hp motor..from the shop that did the work..it would cost way over 100k I’d bet to fix it, maybe more if it went to the dealer..

Not a lot of profit on this one with the $-add ons to Copart you're into this for the mid $60's. It's a Mustang so lots of the parts are generic so you'd need to rebuild it and it would have a branded title. It would be sporty to make a decent return on your investment.

Copart and IAA have been pulling the keys out of "high demand" or performance cars and keeping them in the office. You have to ask. Even as a transporter you have to ask because a lot of times they won't keep the keys with the title or even note that the keys were brought into the office.
