I guess I don't have an understanding of this. I know how to make illustration, flats, and tech packs not good at it, but know how. I do have a degree in tailoring, my love is making clothes. I actually do have a interesting resume. Sewing for some celebrities, comic-con costumes, three wedding dresses one designed by one of the brides I just made it to here specs, the other I had free rein, costumes for a tv show that season airs next year. But no fashion degree, it alluded me when I was younger. I want to get into making I guess you would call it bespoke clothes, but there is no demand where I live so will have to find clients some other way. There are so many alterationist in our area there is no money in it. Had shop open for four years and well, I'm glad I do not have to rely on it to feed me at the moment.

As much as selling online on websites like Spoonflower have their drawbacks, I think creating a lot of designs will naturally & eventually make you a better designer, so I think if your goal is more to just get started and get better at textile design, and possibly just get your designs out there (even if it doesn’t make sales immediately) it can be a good thing to work on the the long term, or to build up more confidence in your work before becoming a freelancer. But obviously this isn’t ideal if you’re wanting to make money immediately

Hi. if i want to download the pattern draft of that blazer how do i do it?
@SewHeidi22 күн бұрын
Hello! You would have to draft a pattern yourself. NewArc will create photorealistic renders as I showed in the video, but it does not create sewing patterns. Is that what you were asking?

Nowhere near involved in the fashion industry (and also very late to the party), but I've been looking at Clo3D tutorials just for fun-and binging your channel-and came across Style3D Studio; the KZfaq algorithm's at work. It's very similar to Clo3D, so I think it's worth checking out for those familiar with Clo3D. From what I've seen in some comments and sites, Clo3D has more features, but Style3D is better at simulation and has a free library fully integrated into the software. According to their site, not only is there a 30-day trial, but there's also a FREE non-commercial version-remember NON-commercial. Apparently, it used to be $30/month, but the non-commercial version is now completely free with a few limitations-don't know if that'll always be the case, but that's what it's like at the time I'm writing this. The Individual plan is also less expensive than Clo3D at $40/month and $380/year, but you might want to keep in mind that Clo3D has more features than Style3D, at least according to what I've heard through word-of-mouth (word-of-comment?). It's still relatively new, but I just thought I'd share this in case anyone missed it or is interested. I can't say anything definitive since I use neither of these programs, but some videos and sites compare the two if you wanna check that out, and you can check the software out too.

😭😭😭I finished my AS in Fashion Merchandise and Management with the highest GPA. Not even one job offer, I was too old at 30 something. Eventually, I got a job in a complete different field that paid me really good money. Soon I will retire and I planning to open my own fashion business. Finally I will be working on what I’m most excited about, fashion, trends, fabrics 😂.

Good to know. I was wondering who it was that predicted that say “denim skirts are hot this season” or “ shirt dresses are a must have for summer”! But mostly I wondered who the genius’ were that brought back my beloved flare and bell bottom jeans from the 70’s! I was a kid then so I couldn’t rock the look like I can today! And fortunately my guy is in a rock band and he also loves the look sooo! But the jeans of today are starting to take on the 80’s high waist mom jeans look! I personally don’t care for high waist jeans anymore after loosing weight. I want to show off a little lol. But it did inspire me to start sewing and make my clothes the way I like them. Good to know the titles of each job. I suddenly feel like I might need to make a change of fortune. 🔮 lol

About the price of Clo3D; psst: an Adobe subscription for an individual is 59.99 a month. I’m not trying to downplay the cost, but considering that it’s a 3D software that can literally help you make, grade, and export sewing patterns, and that your time is also money, I would say worth it. Though personally I’m waiting to see if I hear back from Browswear indie first.
@SewHeidiАй бұрын
I can’t remember the context and what I said in the video, but if you just get Illustrator, it’s $22.99 a month. Yes, the whole suite is more. And yes, for $50 CLO is quite robust! However, if you compare it to what the whole Adobe suite does - video editing, photoshop, vector, and more, I would say it’s comparable. Just depends on your needs!

Hey Heidi, great video and editing. I have ai images of models wearing incredible outfits and want to turn them into clothing designs to pass on to a supplier. How do I do that?
@SewHeidi2 ай бұрын
Glad you liked the video! To get those designs manufactured, you’d want to properly spec them with a tech pack to call out all the details, construction, fit/sizing, etc. You could use those AI images to *support* your technical specs, but they wouldn’t be enough on their own. This is a great place to start: successfulfashiondesigner.com/tech-pack-step-by-step/ (Or if you’d like to hire a freelancer, I can help you get connected with someone!)
