She was simply incredible. I wanted to be like her when I was young woman. She stayed young at heart and that is the secret to a long and healthy, happy life. Thank you Tasha for all your inspriations.
I've been listening to classical music for decades and my favourite pianists are Emil Gilels (the best of the best) and Sviatoslav Richter. Based on this performance, I reckon Hayato Sumino has the potential to become a legendary pianist. This is an unusually elegant rendition of this sonata in my opinion, especially the first movement. On the whole, Hayato is in total command of the piece, he has such perfect technique and plays with such ease that it almost sounds like a perfect improvisation. Beethoven himself liked to improvise and I think Hayato brings out that element in Beethoven's writing here, all the while hitting every note at the right moment, bringing the piece fully to life.
