I left the fandom some...nearing 5 years ago and here I am, once more, learning something new from a fur. I can't seem to shake you guys lol but I'll be damned if I couldn't find a better break down of how to understand a made up language. Damn good job helping me understand the lore of Tunic better. Here's hoping it carries over into a sequel or spiritual successor

I dont know what is Trunic. I don't know why my teacher is a furry. I don't know why I feel more and more interested on those runes and all the mistery is grinding around them. I try to understand what is happening. I can't. I get frustrated. I hope my other classmates can follow the lesson but I have to quit :c

Very edutaining video, thank you so much :D At first, I wanted a translation of the instruction booklet, but the moment I figured out the sound "Uh", I was determined to learn the language. I'm at a part of the game where I can interact with many NPCs, so I felt like being able to understand them would make a big difference. Thank you again for this video <3

Thanks for doing this! My grade school English class lessons on the phonemic alphabet is really coming in handy here, hehe~ I pulled up a phonemic chart and was crossing off the letters one by one as I was following along with your video. That's when I noticed that there's one that was skipped. There's a phonemic letter for the "aw" sound in words like "not" or "because", as well as a dedicated phonemic letter for the "aw" in "saw" or "law". Those seem so close in pronunciation that I figured they must be used interchangeably in Trunic.
@HappyWulf7 ай бұрын
Nice! Though you might have missed it, that sounds is in there. I believe it was the second letter I did, and used the word "awesome" to example it? Awesome and Saw use the same rune.
@foxyloon7 ай бұрын
@@HappyWulf Ahhhh, gotcha. I did go back and forth in this video several times while taking notes, so it's likely I missed something or got confused. Wasn't saying you did anything wrong here, this has actually been a super helpful video! I've already began translating runes from the game's manual, which is an excellent start!
@HappyWulf7 ай бұрын
@@foxyloonjust keep in mind the part I actually did get wrong. The "old man", as I mentioned in the description, is wrong. It's used in the game in "Cycle". The oo in "Book".

This was monumentslly helpful! Thank you! I looked up another guide and they didnt seperete the sounds into femilies, which is critical when talking about phonemes, because you have hard and soft phonemes. Apparently teo vowels sounds are missing from Tunic's language though? At least, according to this other guide. AW (as in Paw) and UH (as in Bug), but im going to doible check. Now, what about words like Gun? Is it G.UH.-N, G-UH.N, or both? Im guessing its like a normal word that seperstes phonemes into syllables and goes left to right when possible. But what about the UH, if thats not in the lanaguage?
@HappyWulf7 ай бұрын
Aw as in PAW is the 2nd rune I talked about, and UH as in GUN or Th-UH (the) is the 4th; G-uh N. Remember Vowels take up the outside of the rune and the consonants take up the inner. So, G-Uh is a single combined rune, and N is it's own - but they are all touching each other going left to right to form a full word. The horizontal line is a formal aid to help keep the flow of words, but is not necessary and is often excluded in informal writing.
@FurryEskimo7 ай бұрын
@@HappyWulf Great to know, thanks! I'm going to look into this myself soon, but just checking, are you using TH-UH because that's what You personally say in real life, or because the game's dialogue comes with an accent? I say TH-E. I think there was a similar example where you said "UN apple" vs "AN apple", but I say "AN apple."
@HappyWulf7 ай бұрын
@@FurryEskimo It's based entirely on how you say it. It accounts for accents this way. This allows for some words to be written in multiple ways, it's fine as long as it's readable. Th-UH and Th-EE are both used in the manual. For example, they are right next to each other in Page 40 on #1. "Th-UH sound of chanting in Th-EE (air/heir)?"

@@HappyWulf Great to know, but also So annoying! lol
@FurryEskimo7 ай бұрын
@@HappyWulf Quick question, but what symbols/phoneme would you use to represent the R sound in the word Cross? I was looking for it under the R vowels, but I'm thinking, maybe it's a consonant, so it's K-(R-O)-S?
