Thank you Ali! I used it at an urban sketch plein air stove and it’s really nice, but one thing I couldn’t get from this palette was grey. I thought mixing all the colours would work but it didn’t. Now I realise that maybe mixing colours on the opposite ends of the colour wheel might work? I need to try 😁

Oooh interesting! I have another palette i built that has lots of greens so if I need more premixed ones, I might borrow your idea 😀

I have no idea if it’s even still available in England, as I don’t often draw on black paper, but it’s really satisfying to do. Have you tried any other black paper? The clairefointaine makes the paint on paper pad in black. I need to compare it with the sketchbook but that might be an option? Iuile look a little better on textured white paper, like on watercolour one but not as good on the off white art creations. They do look completely different though. Good luck with your search for this sketchbook 🤞

Thank you for your tips on golds! I used to have a massive gold phase when I was first learning hand lettering and still love them a lot. White on mixed media is really hard as most do turn blueish. I think the trick is the natural white (the slightly yellow one) rather than pure white and to experiment and swatch somewhere not on the piece you’re working on so that you get the desired effect but I find that they always seem to work a little differently depending on what you use them with.

I tend to store my brushes in small pots and jars and kind of thought to keep these new ones separately, but now I think I was overthinking it. Treating them like they’re special will only lead to never using them!

@@WeirdIsTheBest indeed! I have mix of cheap and expensive brushes I collected other the years and they all chill in that 1 euro case :D Whenever I paint I just pick the one I need for the task.

Me too! They are really nice quality! I tested them here in mixed sketchbook but can’t wait to try them on watercolour paper soon! They are really lovely and that green I was looking for for a while. Also in a weird way I learnt a lot about drawing from life from studying this piece.

@@WeirdIsTheBest that doesn’t sound weird at all! The hardest thing for me about painting for life is figuring out the composition. Like, there’s so much in front of me, it’s sometimes hard not to try to put it all on the page

I think studies are ok! A lot of people do them and share them. I think they’re very useful and it’s good to always make sure to be clear they’re studies and not try and make money on them but they can be a part of a sketchbook! That reminds me that I never do any serious studies but want to as there are so many great painters etc that I could get inspiration from.

Hi Amy! I’m glad that I’ve inspired you to try being more brave in sketchbooks! It really is part of the process ☺️ and everyone makes drawings they don’t like. Just not everyone shows it online. Sometimes I think I’d I only made perfect drawings, I would not enjoy it anymore because it would be too easy! The website I mentioned is Pexels. I think I also mentioned Unsplash but you might want to check their policy for commercial use etc.
