I bring a sharpie with me and draw 4” tall targets on the giant paper then push that out to 10 yards or 30 feet and try to hit the center and head from them.

Oh my, don’t threaten me with a good time! It was always a dream of mine to shoot 9mm, but always fighting for my rights in California left me with limited choices of guns and prices that were just as insane. STI in 40 was my only option. Otherwise, a Rock Island may have been my first choice.

we do it 15 rounds first mag and 10 rounds second mag, if they have the capacity, that way for the 3rd string they have 5 in the gun and after they finish the 2nd string. CDP if Single Stack takes a bunch of mags.

Dawson precision should show people how to use a caliper correctly. You measure the height as intended, but that picture at 8:39 has probably cost a lot of cursing and additional shipping to save 5 minutes by quickly overlaying stock images.

@@PaulGee It is not about liking it. It shows measuring the front sight height with the large jaw instead of the depth rod. That spreads the wrong use of calipers. With an inaccurate measurement it may lead to wrong orders, dissatisfied customers and unnecessary shipping.

Hi there @scottc3029. thank you for watching the channel and your inquiry. Thats a great question, the extractor is the first step and an important one in the ejection process. If the extractor is not setup correctly (proper tension and angles) then the ejection process will not be reliable. The extractor holds the key roll of extracting the fired case from the breach and holding the case in position during the extraction cycle so once the spent case contacts the ejector the spent case can be flipped clear of the breach, reliably, every time. In contrast to ejection is the feeding cycle, and if the extractor is setup to tight the gun may exhibit feeding/chambering issues with the rim of the case overcoming the tension of the extractor when sliding up the breach face.

Great question! Because there’s so many models out there, it may be easier for you to just bring your favorite and we’ll let you know what division you fit in. Remember, missile launchers and full auto rifles is USPSA and they shoot on Saturday.

Gave this video a like because it is very informative and presented very well. Coming from USPSA, IDPA seems to have way too many nonsensical rules that restrict the sport. 10+1 capacity in what is essentially the open division of IDPA? Hard pass. Again though, video was awesome, sport seems dumb.

What drills do you do to practice for an IDPA match. I understand dry fire is important but how often do you shoot live ammo and when doing so what things do you focus on?

@@Rusty_ok I stay away from static shooting prior to matches. What tunes my muscle and vision memory is shooting basic reps. Single, double and triple taps to a multiple target array with movement drills. Shooting From Cover video will show you some drills.

I work on transitions with a circle 5 inches around because the IDPA down zero is 8 inches. I also work on splits anything I can’t in dry fire practice. Occasional Mozambique, etc..
