Hello, do you think 4 hours is enough to vist Santapark at the end of Dec ? Should we come in the morning or afternoon? Thank you
@PeachyKeenes13 күн бұрын
Hey there. I just watched the video with my kids again to try and remember what we did 😄-we went three years ago so it's a little fuzzy 😜 I think we went the one afternoon late in the afternoon and then I think we dropped back by for an hour or two the next day. I think the only reason we did that was because the ticket we had was able to be used both days. I'm not sure if they still do that or not. Regardless I think 4 hours will be enough but may depend on how busy it is. When we went 4 hours would have been plenty. Not sure if the morning or afternoon will be better-maybe inquire with the park and see if they can tell you which time of the day is busier. I would say if you are going around Christmastime it will likely be busier than when we went at the beginning of December. Hope that helped 😉

Thank you for your reply. The ticket is still valid 2 days. Im just wondering it should be the day before or the day after the day we booked. I want to book the ticket on 28Dec, can I come on 27Dec as well?
@PeachyKeenes3 күн бұрын
Hmm. . .I'm not sure about that one. I think we purchased our tickets right @Santa Park so we used the ticket that day and then the next day. Maybe try to reach out to them via email or Instagram and see if you can get confirmation that way. Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Omg bro I’m getting chills. I went here as a kid with my perfect parents when I lived in blowing rock. The nostalgia is overwhelming me. Would like to see a video from the 90s but this is good. Omg I miss those days I’m tearing up. I miss my dad

Great video and tips. We went feb 14th thru 18th. Was surprised at the lack of eating places as well. The resort had open kitchen later than 430 and we ate there 3 x and the pizza place once. If we go back here will try to do some cooking

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful. Yeah, as much as it’s not fun to cook on vacation we found it doable with eating at the lodge or one of the restaurants and then cooking in for the other. Not too bad! Hope your trip was great otherwise! 🤩

Wow, so much has changed. We didn't have the online reservations and lift tickets. I'm sure a recharge station is a must have now. Appal used to be blue top to bottom. Your kids are great skiers and you were there to coach them. I went to the ski school to learn how to use my new shaped skis.

So interesting the changes! It’s amazing what fast learners kids are. Meanwhile I’m behind them trying not to bust it! I can see how it would be a great place for day trips. We really enjoyed it!

When I lived in Charlotte I would take day or weekend trips there. I think night skiing there is the best--not as crowded and about the same temperature as daytime. I do miss it and I look at the webcam often.

Light is very detrimental to cave ecosystems, so that's likely why they haven't add more

Loved this video! We are planning to visit this September w/ my son so we loved all your recommendations. Question on the Sea Pines resort, we plan to have dinner at Quarterdeck which I believe is located on that property. So, will you have to pay to enter and use the trolley to get down to that area with the lighthouse?
@PeachyKeenes11 ай бұрын
Hey there. Glad you enjoyed the video. When we visited a year ago we did exactly as you mentioned. We paid to get in and then parked and rode the trolley down. You can also drive down to the area where the lighthouse/restaurants are and park but it is usually very crowded (but we’ve always been there on a weekend in the summer which I’m sure contributed to the crowd). We always do the trolley because that is part of the fun for the kids 😉. Hope that helps!

This was very well put together - thanks for your effort! What dates were you in Brian Head? My wife and I are planning on doing a Monday through Friday trip in mid-December later this year. We'll probably stay in Cedar City due to sleep difficulty at high elevations. But there is a shuttle that runs from town up to the resort. I love the fact that it looks so uncrowded there. You mentioned that you normally ski on the East Coast - have you ever skied Loon Mountain near Lincoln New Hampshire. We skied there 3 weeks ago, and found it even better than expected. 8 person high-speed chairlift was pretty cool. Take care!
@PeachyKeenes Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind comments. We were in Brian’s Head Monday thru Friday Jan 23-27. So our East Coast skiing was just in NC at Sugar, Beech, and Appalachian which is nothing like Brian Head 😁. I’m going to write down your suggestion-so thanks for that! I think you will love Brian Head. It’s such a great ski resort for all abilities! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Great video, we'll be there in March. Did y'all do the swimming before the Luau? I was wondering if there's somewhere to change and get cleaned up before the Luau?
@PeachyKeenes Жыл бұрын
Thank you Bridget. So we swam first so I had to wear my hair in a bun at the luau so I didn’t look like a drown rat 😁. So we actually changed in the car. There are changing stalls (but they are outside) down by the waterfall so if you carry your stuff down there you. Oils always change there. I’m sure you could always change in the bathrooms up by the luau (which is right by the parking lot) as well. Hope that’s helpful and that you have a wonderful time ❤️

We are headed here for first time this video was great to watch with my family to get an idea ty. What are you recording with? I would love to capturev some footage. Do you recommend classes ?
@PeachyKeenes Жыл бұрын
Hi Julie. How fun! I hope you guys have a wonderful time! I’m so happy you found the video helpful. I was just recording with my iPhone. It’s a little tricky doing it while you ski but doable 😂. I can’t speak to the lessons specifically at Appalachian but we’ve found lessons helpful for our kids in the past (especially when they are stubborn 😁). We had our oldest two take them when we went skiing for the first time in Wisconsin. Our youngest hasn’t had lessons but my husband is a great skier so since we wanted to stay together as a family he just taught him. So if no one knows how to ski I would definitely suggest lessons even if just for a 1/2 day to get down the basics. Totally up to you though and what works best for your family dynamics. Sorry that was chatty 😁. Hope ya’ll have a wonderful time ❤️

We went there in February this year. The walk was too much so we took the tram to the waterfall. We didn't go into the water but watched people have fun. That was around 2pm. The luau would start at 5pm so there was plenty of time to enjoy the sights and go back to the pavilion and gift shops. Plus there were different activities and crafts you learned to do. It was over at 9pm. We enjoyed the entertainment and food. We got the VIP package. It is family-owned and operated and the most authentic luau on the island. This was the best part of our vacation. Highly recommend it. They fill up fast so book it before leaving home.

How early would you recommend to go there to do the activities and wander around waimea valley?
@PeachyKeenes Жыл бұрын
Hey! So it’s hard for me to say because we didn’t give ourselves enough time. I would say factor in tours and their lengths and time (I think this info is in their website). I would say give yourself at least an hour and a half for walking to/from the waterfall and playing in it. I would think 1/2 a day would be good but we didn’t do the tours so again it’s hard to say for sure. So just depending on what you would like to do there, that will determine how long to plan. Sorry that’s not specific. Hopefully it’s still a little helpful ❤️

Thank you for sharing your experience and including Waimea Valley portion! My kids would love to swim in that waterfall, and with life vests provided-so cool! I researched & compared all the luau’s in Oahu. Paradise Cove was my first pick (budget-wise, scenery-wise, and kid-friendly). Tao Laua was my other choice, but you have me convinced that it is so much more intimate, welcoming, and traditional. You guys seemed to really enjoy it! The only problem is, like you, I waited too long and there are not enough tickets for the Silver Package 😩 The Gold Package is a lil over my budget, but I think I’ll bite the bullet!

Thank you so much for your kind comments. We knew that this was likely our only time to make it here with the kids so we decided to bite the bullet and get the tickets (but it was a big bullet 😁). I hope you have a wonderful time. ❤️

@PeachyKeenes Жыл бұрын
Aww thanks for your sweet comment. The hike is not bad. Just about 30-45 min. However if you give yourself plenty of time there I believe they have tours where they will take you around and tell you about the valley. After the fact I wished we had spent more time there but we spent some of our day at the North Shore. Hope that helps!

Thank you for this video! I know i watched some of the trip videos last year. But I'm back in camping planning mode. Lol. This September my daughter can get the 4th grade passes for the National parks and CA state parks. we are definitely planning a big trip! We are also Homeschooling, so we can plan a long trip. I'm already out west, but so much i want to show my kids its kinda overwhelming on where exactly to go!
@PeachyKeenes Жыл бұрын
Your welcome! I’m glad you’ve found them helpful! The fourth grade pass and homeschooling make for a beautiful situation for your family. I hope to have some more National Park videos coming soon. Many of our travels have been fly by the seat of our pants as far as not really having a plan but rather looking for a campsite 3 or 4 hours before setting up camp. Out west it’s definitely doable because of all the free camping but in the East you might want to be a little more planned. I’m super excited for your family. You will make memories you will never forget!
