I started to watch F1 in the 70's, I used to love F1, but when the GOAT of all time died, I never watch F1 in the same way. Senna is the best of all time, the number of titles does not translate his greatness.

Consider this… San Marino never happens, Senna takes the 94 championship, if Hill pushed Schimacher till Adelaide, then Senna wraps it up before then. Senna also takes the championship Hill won and also the 97 championship the Villeneuve won. He probs would have retired a 6 time champion and still hold the most wins…. Descanse em paz, Ayrton.

I can't compare him to Schumi and Lewis because their eras were so different, but Senna had a way of racing that was nothing like ever before. He embodied the sport. Pushed every single time he sat in a car. Lived and breathed racing, that's why to a lot of people including me he was the greatest. He was and is what F1 is about.

For me there 5 names that come to kind for the goat: Senna, Schumacher, Vettel, Hamilton, and Verstappen. Michael was great when he was young and he aged brilliantly. Just him and Hamilton have a stigma of having not much competition once they got the best car for 5+years stretches. Vettel takes a hit for losing "it" earlier and just not able to compete against Lewis when he went to Ferrari for very long. I'm throwing Max in here for being of very few drivers to be able to actually compete against Lewis in his prime let alone beat him on equal ground. Would be crazy if Max wins 4 in a row this young in his career. Schumacher, Vettel, and Lewis all take hits for having 2nd drivers who really couldn't or weren't allowed to compete against them for points. So, that leaves Senna as my current goat and Max chasing his ghost getting awfully close already at his age.

I have had the privilege in the eighties and early nighties where people would say I looked just like Senna. When the first person told me I had no idea who he was until I actually saw him on tv racing.

Yup - he was the best imo! It was his rare combination of analytical and emotional skill/commitment that distinguished him. His qualifying expertise was beyond reproach, and his command and respect while on track was unmatched.

I'm from Adelaide, Australia, where Ayrton stood on the top step of the podium for the last time. I saw him race at Adelaide many times. No driver has ever made a Grand Prix car dance like he could, neither before nor since. Pure artistry. He was much more than a driver though, he was a philosopher, a deep thinker with enormous compassion, a complex and beautiful human being. For me I knew there was never going to be another like him, LONG before his death. He was an enormous part of my life...late nights, every second Sunday. I had no idea he was so loved outside of Brazil until after he died. I honestly felt like - with the poor press he often received in the English-speaking world right from his early F1 days - that I was his biggest fan outside of his native Brazil. Little did I know...there so much love for him around the world. It took many years for me to follow the sport again after 1994. I do still watch it, but it will never be the same for me. I think it was Maricio Gugelmin who once said, "if you put 26 double decker buses alongside each other on the Silverstone grid, and Senna was in one of them, you know you'd win, don't you"

senna is overrated and i am from brazil, he was good, yes, a legend, but not the best, we have awesome racing and excelent drivers competing nowdays , not only in f1, but take a look in rally too, you will see better drivers all over the place, ppl in brazil tend to believe he was the best driver ever but that's because we have no sports achievments besides soccer ( 20 years ago hahaha) so ppl keep thinking he still the best but sorry, his numbers are not impressive anymore, we are seeing new record after new record and everyone knows exactly who i am talking about and EVEN he is not the best pilot ever.. so just chill

Respect to you for making this very good video. To answer your question.. the best driver of all times. I will say It had to be Ayrton Senna. -- To Formula One he was a God. to the people of Brazil Senna Was and Is a God. Yes there have been many greats in the past. But the cars that were of the 1980's / 1990's wanted to kill you. you had to tame them and Senna did this with style. So I say Number one Ayrton Senna.
