Can you give a step-by-step guide of how you passed through Schengen to non-Schengen and back again, and what you had to say for both passport controls? I am doing an Amsterdam departure in October on AY1302 and want to see the OneWorld lounge :) Travelling on a non-EU passport BTW

Just to add to your opening words of the clip.. and haven’t business class prices gone craaaazzzzyyyy!! Totally agree although there are still deals to be had. I recall seeing London to Australia in Business for £1600 back in 2010 and I felt it was too much so went in economy for £400. Until recently it was hard to find it below £6000! Who's paying that??? Good point though yes I was surprised to see Cathay Pacific offering some slightly more reasonable fares given they had it though for 3+ years

Was the footwell that restrictive? It didn’t seem much worse than others, as I watched your video. But what I could see was how narrow the seat was. Still, I’ve been on the 2+4+2 United 777 and those seats are only 18 inches wide!
@liftoffandtravel
@liftoffandtravel 3 күн бұрын
So it's an interesting question. May be worth a video. The angled towards the window 1:2:1 configuration is probably the most popular but if you watch our Finnair video you can see they removed the wall on the footwell and placed a bar instead which adds at least another 7cm of width. Airlines like EVA air on their 787 have their seats facing forwards which gives a more generous space. So I mention it really because while I'm just above average foot size wise it was fine but if you like to turn left and right while sleeping it could be restrictive. Shoulder width is a whole different issue 😂

You're of to a great start. The mini cabin is going to feel so private! Plus you get stick your head through briefly and see the First Class.. Which could be a mistake 😂 jealously is the devil. Personally unless you want to sit apart I think you've made a good choice seat wise. You both get a side table unlike the left hand side of the plane. Either way have a wonderful time. Not been to JNB. Are you connecting or Business? Not many go for tourism I gather but perhaps they are missing something. I quite enjoy exploring less popular cities.

It's certainly a dangerous subject. I'm always wary not to feature cabin crew and to be realistic in my opinions. I'm pretty easy going though so unless someone does something really wrong I won't linger on it. Sadly all airlines have planes in their fleet which they aren't so proud of. I suspect that when the 777x comes out there will be a cascade and routes like Sri Lanka might start seeing the older 777s with Q Suite or the 787 which is still a wonderful way to fly

Wait, you find it normal that the economy service on a regular airline is the same as a low cost airline while paying a $100+ compared to $35-$50 on Ryan air, except for the allowance of a hand luggage in the cabin ? Lufthansa literally downgraded their service as well compared to pre-covid. Only Air France maintains its consistency of offering a sandwich and a coffee/tea/juice on a short-haul european flight.
@liftoffandtravel
@liftoffandtravel 7 күн бұрын
Normal can be such a broad word. Remove the sandwich and drink and most airlines are the same seat in a different colour. Perhaps with slightly different pitch and occasionally width. Air France have been pretty good. Except where they didn't load any food for me and one other passenger in Business Class. Have you tried their Airbus A220? It's such a wonderful way to fly ✈️
@theshieldhero7062
@theshieldhero7062 7 күн бұрын
@@liftoffandtravel My apologies the if the term '' Normal '' sounded rude the way I put it in the sentence but literally, I think just a snack and a drink on board makes a massive difference on the soft product of an airline. For instance flying economy from Europe to JFK which is 6 hours-8 hours flight, the flight usually goes with a meal and a pre-landing snack with drinks in economy. Based on that, the snack and the drink definitely makes a big difference on a short haul flight for the price difference between a flagship carrier and a low cost airline. Moreover european domestic flights business class would appear more of a joke since the price is doubled and sometime tripled but the seat is the same in economy, and on Lufthansa the economy seat is even better than Business Class due to the difference in leg room 😂😂😂. So the soft-product is definitely a factor I am supposed to fly the A220 from Berlin to Paris on the 4th of September with Air France. Looking forward to it. But I did try the A220 with Swiss Air, really liked the aircraft

I flew this cabin in December last year (inbound Jan 2024) and would recommend AVOIDING Lufthansa "First Class" at all costs. I was going to Thailand with my girlfriend and chose this to be my first ever First Class experience and was left with a very bitter taste after returning home. Tl;dr - they lied to us on the outbound, left me in a defective seat on the inbound, and customer support offered me the equivalent of 1.25% of my booking cost for compensation. For the outbound, I booked two centre seats in the First Class cabin. Being close to my girlfriend was important as she is a very nervous flyer. When we arrived at check-in, we were told that I had to be moved due to a malfunction of the in-flight entertainment (IFE) system. My seat was changed to a window seat across the aisle from my girlfriend. Not a huge issue but what happened when we boarded really angered us. Not only was the IFE perfectly functional on the seat next to hers, it turned out that one of the pilots had chosen this exact seat for his wife... If we were notified of this and asked to switch, we would have maybe been able to come to an agreement but starting such an expensive trip by being lied to is absolutely not how I imagined First Class. On the inbound, as luck would have it, for the duration of Bangkok to Munchen (A380-800), the IFE actually was defective on my seat. This time, since the First Class cabin was full, they couldn't move me and I was stuck with no movies or entertainment on an 11.5 hour flight. Due to the old screens, the viewing angle didn't allow me to watch anything on my girlfriend's screen either. The purser on board was very understanding and proactive. Without me raising a fuss, she checked her options and saw that she could offer me a voucher of 300 EUR for the inconvenience. However, she thought this was not adequate and advised me to contact Lufthansa Customer Support after landing, gave me a reference number, and said that they have the ability to offer higher compensation. I run an e-commerce company, managing and running stores for a living and if my employees offered customer service at the level that I got from Lufthansa after this flight, I would fire each and every single one of them. Firstly, it took 2 weeks to get a response. Secondly, there was not a single shred of humanity in the way they wrote to me. No apologies, no understanding. All matter of fact, very robotic. I was offered 100 EUR compensation..... IN MILES. I told them the purser had offered me a 300 EUR flight voucher on board... Sorry, not valid anymore. Could I escalate my case to a supervisor? No, there is no supervisor currently available. I believe the last part about not allowing me to escalate my case may even be illegal according to EU consumer law. Lufthansa have really gone down the toilet, unfortunately. I used to respect them a lot as an airline growing up. Nowadays, from the past 10 years of independent travelling I have had, about 80% of the problems I have had on flights have been with Lufthansa. And this is coming from someone who flies on Ryanair and Wizzair semi-regularly.
