Viewer from England here and have to say I love decathlon stuff and use a lot of it for my hiking and camping trips. Its a shame they don't have the forclaz MT900 tent range in the US as I love my tent and tarp. The forclaz MT900 range is their range of lighter gear and their women's backpack is amazing though less pockets. Their trekking leggings are amazing so if they sell them there I highly recommend them, they sell out quickly here and I have two colours and I wear them all the time as they have lots of great zipped pockets and super comfy, even as my PE kit at school, I also love those some sandals and love their merino vest and merino / lightweight underwear. I recently bought one of their pillows with a soft outside which is super comfy. I haven't used their sleeping bags so I can't comment but I have heard great things about their down jackets, after I purchased my RAB one so when that is worn out it will be replaced with a decathlon one. It's interesting to see cost comparisions compared to here though as my Teva's were triple the price I paid for those decathlon sandals a couple of years ago. Anyway nice to see the review.

I know this is an old video but qq, anyone has any thoughts on REI sleeping pads? I'm looking at the AirRail Plus for on sale for like $80 with an R value of 4.2 while the Nemo Tensor Trail Ultralight only has 2.8 in R value not that much lighter and more than double that price.

For budget backing brands, could you also include MEC? Its like the canadian version of REI, and it would be awesome to see how it compares to some of the other stuff you're testing!

Hi Miranda, i am working in an Outdoorstore in Germany. 31:04 Europe Size Medium is like US Size Small and Asian Size Large. It's a littelbit confusing. 😊 As Always great video, really love to watch your Videos with my Girlfriend. Best wishes from Germany! Paul

Some of that stuff looks too heavy. You can get a cloud up single tent that cost about 100 and weighs 3 pounds. A sleeping bag to me is best at about 20 degrees down, even duck down. Which will weigh a little over 2 pounds. If you combine it with a down packable jacket, it's plenty warm for 3 seasons. I just use one of those hard foam pads and have been for ages. It's camping.

I think this video was very helpful to me. I suffer from occasional pretty severe depression also. I sometimes think it tends to come when there's a lot of gloomy, rainy weather. So I thank you for being brave enough to do this video. If I ever go on a over night hike again, i will remember this. I tend to doubt that i will because im 67yo now, but I would very much like too. I guess well see. I'm very thankful that you were not alone.🥰

With the fleece, you can go even cheaper. I love the MH 100 fleece. It costs around 10 EUR and it's a great ultralight and ultracheap piece. I bought several of them and ended up using them daily instead of just hiking

The metric system was adopted in the us in 1866 under the metric act. Also further legislation was adopted in 1975 with the metric conversion act. The problem is no deadline was issued for this conversion so we live in a society with two systems. It would make life so much easier if we converted to the metric system and the USMA has a great pdf on the history of the metric system. You can see continued efforts of conversation on everyday products. You’ll see most foods are measured in grams. A smart water bottle is 1 liter. And backpacks are measured in liters. It’s a base 10 system and super easy to learn.

I was very surprised to learn that decathlon does not sell tents in the US. 😱Even here in Mexico it offers several models at very good prices. How curious.

Did you find the pillow comforter because the pad and sleeping bag was so uncomfortable or would it be able to stand up to your regular gear?

Do you think it would work to make the toothpaste into a longish line. Then once its dried out cut it into bits. Or maybe even leave it long and then cut into bits on the trails? Might solve the sticking together issue too.

I feel really old now, actually remembering that self-inflatable sleeping pads were introduced. A major improvement after sleeping on closed cell foam mats. I still like them, but then again I also prefer sleeping on a hard mattress at home. Trick is to *first* open the valves and let the foam expand, and it will automatically inflate. This will not be enough and you’ll have to blow by mouth, but usually it’s just a few blows, and you’re done.

Since where i live everything in the backpacking market is expensive (even Decathlon) i bought my gear from aliexpress. Backpack, tent (naturehike), sleeping pad, headlamp, pants. I didnt buy a sleeping bag because where i live is too hot to need an extra level of heat.

Thank you thank you thank you - for mentioning headaches and aches regarding electrolyte supplementation. I have dysautonomia and chronic severe migraines. Getting out safely with those two conditions have been a challenge. From migraines that mimic seizures and strokes... to the my dysfunctional autonomic nervous system where I have issues regulating my blood pressure, heart rate, I sweat /excessively/ (Sjrogren's Syndrome), I have to manage fainting episodes AND I have EDS (Ehler's Danlos Syndrome- a connective tissue disorder where my body works extra hard to keep my skeleton in place and thus I experience pain more often than someone without EDS). All of those conditions and symptoms are commonly comorbid, so I am not an unusual case with those conditions and symptoms overlapping. ALL OF THAT TO SAY - I've placed an order with LMNT especially after seeing how many people love it and see a difference with it. Gatorade has never helped me, and I understand why now after doing some digging. I have had to abandon trips due to oncoming symptoms - I have a medical alert dog to alert to when I have a migraine coming on - on trips instead of immediately reaching for emergency meds, I am hoping to spend more time rehydrating with LMNT and hope to see a difference. Thank you for being real in your videos. 💚

FWIW, the LMNT website recommends using it 30 minutes before activity, rather than trying to chase the deficiency when you feel the effects.

How has the floor of the Nemo Hornet held up without using a ground cloth? I just got this tent and the ground cloth is several ounces heavier than any other 1p tent I've ever used! Trying to shave any little bit I can for a strenuous upcoming trip

Hello from the Land Down Under! I'm so glad you have gone to producing your episodes weekly. I do my cardio in the gym on Tuesday mornings and the elliptical machine was so boring until I now have your show to watch each week. It makes the time go by so fast. Love how you keep it real. Also, love the budget gear videos. Keep them coming.

Hi. Been using decathlon gear for around 30 years now and can honestly say have never been disapointed or had problems. That includes hunting gear, fishing gear, sportswear and bushcraft/camping/hiking gear. That also includes my bushcraft knives. Well thought out gear from the cheapest budget range up to high cost highest quality range. All the best.

I have a Forclaz merino base-layer and the down puffy jacket, both are good, regardless of cost. I also had some Decathalon socks, they were not - they had heavy stitching right across the ball of my foot and gave me blisters - ouch! Another budget brand which is popular in Europe is OEX, I have one of their Fathom 300 sleeping bags rated to 0C and I've used it down to below 5C with no issues at all, and it too costs less than $100, and it packs down way more than the Decathalon did! If you can find them in the US they are worth a look. Finally, for budget gear, you surely can't ignore the 3FUL Chinese stuff? Their Lanshan tents are legendary and my buddy raves about their backpack. They also do sleeping bags but I've never heard any feedback on those. PS. I loved that trail, stunning scenery!

I have the mens Decathlon 50L rucksack, while it only has 1 quick access bottle pocket it does have 2 side pockets, one of which bellows out to hold a 1.5 litre Nalgene with room to spare. The single hip belt pocket is a bit of a miss but I've added a pouch to the other side with straps that go around the padded belt.
