Interpretación de altísimo nivel del Maestro Russell.

I know Schiff departs quite a bit from Gould on interpretation. I admit to not liking his legato as much as Gould's detached, energetic pointillist style. However, they are both great authorities and interpreters of Bach, each of whom ground their interpretation in a very deep understanding of the music. Recently, I heard that fabulous Argentinian pianist's rendition (Argerirch) of this work too, quite a mesmeric third take... In the final movement here the rubato seems capricious to me, and given the structural diamond this piece is, I have a harder time justifying his tempi fluctuations... When there is such a crystal to elucidate, IMHO, tempi changes are too indulgent and besides the point. There is a willful aspect to it, IMHO, that is more indulgent than Gould's laser-like rendition. Argerich's take on the final Capriccio is more in keeping with Gould's.

Absolutely beautiful. Reminiscent of a Chopin nocturne. Dream-like, fairy tale like, Sleeping Beauty is sleeping and the prince awakens her; a romantic totally romantic piano piece. Never heard it before; or of the composer till now. Thank You.

John Field (26 July 1782, Dublin - 23 January 1837, Moscow) was an Irish pianist, composer and teacher[1] widely credited as the creator of the nocturne. While other composers were writing in a similar style at this time, Field was the first to use the term 'Nocturne' specifically to apply to a character piece featuring a cantabile melody over an arpeggiated accompaniment. Field was very highly regarded by his contemporaries and his playing and compositions influenced many major composers, including Felix Mendelssohn, Frédéric Chopin(1810-1849), Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, and Franz Liszt. Although little is known of Field in Russia, he undoubtedly contributed substantially to concerts and teaching, and to the development of the Russian piano school. FROM Wikipedia 😀
