Fun fact: Bill Skarsgard is in such amazing shape because when filming The Crow he had just finished a film called Boy kills world which is the film he got ripped for. In fact he didn't like being so in shape for playing Eric Draven, he thought that as Eric he should have had a more scrawny physique which is interesting.

I saw it on Sunday…which was my birthday…the 14th. 😂 But I enjoyed it a lot. I respect your review. A friend of mine thought it didn’t meet the hype either and I think it did. 😂 But I’m basing my thoughts on vibes. Also (I don’t think this is a spoiler) but did you notice the dark horned figure that would show up randomly throughout the movie? I love stuff like that. I also didn’t think it was scary but it was hella creepy.

Ooh! I've never heard of Demon House, but that is a great cast, I love Caleb McLaughlin, I'm glad he's in it (he's one of my favourites on Stranger Things, but hasn't gotten some of the same opportunities as his castmates). And the story sounds interesting! Also, I think Aunjanue is pronounced like "ingenue."

Looks cool! I have never seen DEMON HOUSE, but will watch. On top of this film avoiding overt racialist material, it also seems to provide something different than ubiquitous black love trauma tropes, which mostly lack creativity, style, and depth. I wish they would have went for a theatrical release, but I understand the hesitation, a consequence of the failure of Exorcist: Believer. 🖤💜

Just finished watching. It’s not scariest movie of the decade but it is definitely creepy as hell. As far as the ending goes - I wasn’t disappointed. I think the hype might be because it Nicolas Cage involvement. I didn’t hear about this movie like literally two weeks and just seeing the teasers. I didn’t know he was in the movie until reading some comments on IG and they were like it’s him…his voice was all over the ads. But I did like the movie and honestly would see a prequel on the killers backstory. I give it 9 out of 10.

I think it’s definitely overhyped. Some really great stuff in there, major points for the cinematography and lighting. Truly visually captivating. But too many things really, really didn’t land for me. I was intrigued, but also very perplexed and skeptical throughout the whole movie. Wanted this to be an instant classic, but left disappointed and frustrated by the major flaws. The outstanding execution distracts you for a while from a very stupid and nonsensical plot. Zodiac letters, Satanism, birthdays nonsense, crazy tranny, dolls, mass hypnosis and whatnot... a bit of a mess. And yeah, wasn't into the Longlegs character that much... just felt it was trying way too hard and the movie would have benefited from being much more grounded.

Honestly I'd give the movie a 9/10. The unsettling aspect and the ambiguity of the plot is something i've loved, I love hearing different thoughts about endings and aspects of the movie for people to dissect it forces you to have pay a lot of attention to every detail, I think it's just one of those movies meant for certain groups of people. Also Nick Cages performence, while seeming goofy, I think is meant to be unsettling, you're not supposed to take it serious, but you see the horror in the Lee's character because of the situation she's in and his reaction to it, he's having an amazing time of course he's gonna be this huge goof ball.

I definitely agree with you that I want to watch it again. I liked it, I think it's creepy, the sense that there's always something in the background whether or not there was. But I was also a little let down with the finale. But yeah, I'm going to let it sit for a bit, and then I'll rewatch. Also weirdly had a not great theatre experience as well, had one guy who spent the entire time laughing, which is a choice for this film lol.

@@InLovewithHorror So the movie was good, it could have easily been a Criminal minds episode. They tried to make the FBI agent played by the same woman from It follows into a Clarice type character. It was riddled with plot holes and Nicolas Cage was his normal over the top character. The fact that he was co producer should have been a sign that it was going to be off the wall. Was defiantly a slow burn, as always I love anything with Satanic elements and if could give a synapse with all the spoilers the movie sounds like it would be great. But I want to see it again, which is saying a lot these days. Decent soundtrack for the mid 90’s feel. The entire mood of the movie and the way it was shot, was depressing which works for serial killer movies. Just wish Nicholas Cage would take it down 5-10 notches. Haha and he does look like handsome squidward from SpongeBob!🤣

As an intended Giallo-style film, they nailed it. Had I gone into with a straight up horror mindset like X, don’t think I would have enjoyed it as much. My issues came with the ending reveal. Would have love to see *spoiler*…….. A more unhinged Maxine. Revealed at the end to have killed those people as she saw them as competition and way for her to not escape her past, mirroring Pearl a bit more in the process. Her dad only having the suitcase with Molly’s body parts bc he was trying to protect Maxine, knowing her true nature. Maybe even a flashback to the barn scene in X, showing she killed her bf vs Pearl bc she didn’t want to be stuck in porn her whole life. Would have been a nice twist on Pearls words to Maxine when she said “I saw what you did in the barn”. Overall, I’m happy for Maxine’s happy ending, although I took the ending as her becoming famous from the incident vs her talent being an empty win for her. She famous finally. No friends or distractions holding her back (sadly). But she’s alone, just as the Director hinted she needed to be to succeed.

@@mikeyb.2203 I think that horror mindset was key, especially for Kristie and what our expectations were based on the earlier films within the trilogy.
