This is the part of the manga that got me fully hooked. Not many manga can grab me just several chapters in but this definitely did. From how fantastic the setting felt to how amazing the art was when Coco suddenly took flight, and my sweet Coco building off from an earlier mistake and learning from it to incorporate it into her magic. Among all the scenes, this is the one I want animated the most. Also I have so much I want to say about Agott but my thoughts are more for later arcs so I'll reserve my thoughts there.

I think Agott was pushing Coco in the hopes that she would fail and go away. But I can't say much more because I'm ahead of the chapters being discussed here. :)

Brushbuddy is the series' mascot going forward, so yep, you'll be seeing it quite a bit! God, there's actually so much I want to comment about but because I personally do not care about spoilers whatsoever, I'm super afraid of accidentally spoiling something. So I'll just comment about things unrelated, or loosely connected to the manga itself. Like, did you know Shirahama is very progressive and politically active? She has the pride/rainbow flag in her Twitter handle, was outspoken against Florida's "Don't Say Gay" bill and Disney's lack of action to protect their employees, and has been spotted at a few protests in Japan. I don't want to get too deep into her politics (she's awesome though) but just wanted to say, the manga and fandom are just as inclusive and progressive as the author, and I'd heavily recommend anyone enjoying (and are mostly caught up) the series to follow her on Twitter if you use it, her @ is just her full name.

I'm caught up with the manga, so I can't say much about my feelings on Agott, but she is a complex character and I can't wait for you to see her and all the girls' journey in this story.

Qifrey makes all of our loi...I mean...hearts sing. ^_^

I'm so glad you read Junji Ito so I don't have to LOL. The artwork is creepy as hell, but I appreciate the detail. Also, I will make you laugh- I must have been thinking of your Manga channel before I went to bed last night (I still have to read Witch Hat Atlier to catch up!). Because for some reason, I had a dream that you were on holiday where I live in the US. I happened to see you in a bookstore, introduced myself, and somehow, the conversation landed on manga (imagine that). I mentioned that I was also going through a manga and light novel resurgence. When I mentioned that there were: 4 Barnes and Nobles, 3 Half-Price books, 2 VStocks (which also sell used books) and at least 1 manga store within driving distance of my house, you looked at me and said "That'll do, Donkey. That'll do." And off we went 😂 Thought I'd share that and make you smile. It was a fun dream.

I love the art and the characters and the world, I low key want for the author to publish a book just about the worldbuilding I'll ate it up so fast! but to be honest what made it one of my fav mangas is the politics, the fact that ...... SPOILERS!! minor one bus still........ We have 3 "factions" and none of the seams like the good one, everyone have their own agenda and none really cares for the common folk even tho 2 of them claim that's their main goal is fascinating specially cause we see this primarily from the girls perspective so there is so much we are not told, is just so good!

I absolutely ADORE THIS SERIES!!! It’s so good Plus this series has a very similar magic system to Full Metal Alchemist (another one of my favorites)

I've started Witch Hat Atelier last month and I'm about halfway through the published volumes now and I am obsessed, I love the art, the characters, the magic system, the creatures, the MYSTERIES! I absolutely adore this series and I'm really excited to follow it along with your videos now since none of my manga friends are reading Atelier yet ❤️

I would like to see more of this series however... I haven't read much myself so I will have to pass due to not wanting to get spoiled.

I started it back when they were still publishing them (unless I'm unaware of continual books coming out besides the kitchen side stories), but I stopped at about the 6th book so now I can't wait to do a reread of the whole series! Or at least the 10 volumes I do have. I was so excited when I went to pick up the new volumes as they came out.

As far as the rumors go about Coco entering witch society: I assume it just took some time for them to get from Coco's house to Qifrey's atelier which gave the information some time to spread. He probably got the approval for Coco to become a witch before they even started travelling and I imagine that things spread pretty quickly in the witch world

Witch Hat Atelier is my 2nd favourite Manga (Berserk my #1) and the Art Nouveau art style and Philosophical story and friendships is just wonderful 😊👌💗 Happy reading, Gav! 📚

My favorite manga is Berserk. My second favorite is Witch Hat Atelier. The magic, art, story, and just feelings of this story take you on journey. I'm so glad you're getting into this series 🙂

Genuinely giddy with excitement that you're reading WHA. It's such an incredible manga that's both popular and well respected, yet unfortunately not that discussed about. Whenever people talk about "great seinen manga" it's always Berserk, Vagabond, Vinland Saga and Kingdom. Witch Hat Atelier absolutely deserves to be as discussed as much and in the same breath as those four. Glad you're already enjoying it :) Edit: Oh, and Shirahama is actually a big fan of the Owl House, and vice-versa. I've heard people say Owl House was inspired by Witch Hat, but I have no idea if that's actually true or not, though Dana Terrance and Shirahama are friends (or at least Twitter mutuals).

I thought Venus in the Blind Spot was a bit hit and miss too but some of my favourite stories I've read so far are in here. Definitely some of the freakiest ones are in here! The Enigma of Amigara Fault is my favourite Ito story so far (not including Cat Diaries 😅)
