42:00 Milton Friedman in this interview backs the military industrial complex. Terrible view and time has shown him to be in error on this subject.

37:20 "In any event I'm not in favor of fairness. I'm in favor of freedom. And freedom is not fairness." That's part of the problem. With "freedom," only the wealthy would be able to flex their muscles and express their interests in a free market oike the US. Look at Rupert Murdoch, that demon. He owns NewsCorp and has poisoned many American minds. Others haven't been able to compete against him because they don't have the funds and capital he has. It's the same with Disney, Paramount, Comcast, Time Warner, etc.

The same hypocritical conservatives who argue "America is not free! It's socialist just like Milton Friedman said!" are the same ones that argue against one taking one's own life or the legalization of substances like heroin.

Donahue was a brilliant interviewer but his politics were the reverse of Friedman. But at least he was respectful. For the record, Friedman was absolutely right and brilliant

The big issue tho is, corporations good make well over massive earnings year after year, I'm talking billions and that will all go into shareholders pockets even if they made trillions like even if they made sooooo much that they would maybe think about giving you some they wouldn't, and you will still make the same no matter what, you think ppl dont have more then enough to share yes but nope!!!!!

One part I disagree on is the foreign purchase of land, and that’s simply from a potential national security stand point. I’d be interested to see more data for and’s against based on that possibility.

And despite these well reasoned and well explained perspectives, Donahue spent the rest of his life as bleeding heart pink commie leftists. He never learned.

I think he'd be horrified to see there evolution of that free market today to some degree, but one could argue government enabled and supported the development of the mega corporations that exist today, and negative impacts on society. His positivity about WalMart and it not eating up smaller businesses is refreshing about his view at that time.

Worry about the assumed power of the US Government and its wish to rule and ruin everything, to make their wallet thicker. The disadvantage of the poor is not people’s fault it is Governments who create that to subjugate the people. Also never worry about the past that has gone also never worry about next week, we may not be around for that. Worry about today, that is the most important.
