It is interesting that John MacArthur, in his treatment of this topic, chose to take time to refer to the early church as in the the time of Augustine, and skip right over the advent of the church when the Holy Spirit arrived on the Day of Pentecost, as the early church. It's amazing that many Calvanists rely solely on the philosophy of Calvin, and not the whole counsel of God in Scripture.

I say the majority of Christians are living in a "Hagar" relationship with Father God .... they are bondslaves and make a vow to "follow" him ... a vow we can never keep. Father God desires us to move into New Covenant relationship where He vows through the blood of Christ to save us regardless of our will ... it is called imputed righteousness.

This is such great advice. I too thought I was better than what I was. My first nosedive with lasting effects, was after riding the Pint in Pacific mode for the first time and carving on my way home. I had just gotten 92 miles under my belt. Now at 107 miles. What I noticed was that Pacific does not push back as often as Redwood and allowed for a fun faster ride. On my last turn on the carve I accelerated slightly and angled into a left turn up a 15 degree angle max road, then without warning, nosedived. Head, shoulder, palms all hit pavement. Had helmet, pads all around except shoulder. I'm okay, just super sore. My battery was around 17%. I just didn't feel the pushback, and I never ignore pushback. I just didn't feel it. I have changed my riding style accordingly. I went back to baby steps and practiced in the driveway for a couple of miles before even circling around the neighborhood. 1. I avoid leaning over the front of the board at higher speeds. Like you say I bend my back knee to shift the center of gravity backward slightly, and change the angle of the board to let it know to speed up (rather than just push down on the front to get speed). I am very conscious of where my center of gravity is now, and make sure it doesn't lean forward. It makes it more difficult to put the pedal to the medal so to speak and it's made me cruise at a slower speed, but my balance will eventually figure it out. 2. Any 90 degree or so turn I slow down. My understanding is that the slower the tire goes, the more the nose will fall. So in order to stay level the tire rotation has to speed up. Well if I'm leaning into a small uphill (10-15 degrees) turn, and if I'm maintaining a fast speed going into the turn, the energy in climbing that in order to keep me balanced and at the same speed, does not allow enough margin to speed up the rotation of the wheel to give pushback. In other words, if you slow down, you will leave margin for the OneWheel to pushback. Thoughts are always welcome. My intent is to help others to not be discouraged and not be injured. Take baby steps. But pain is a great teacher. That nosedive felt like my best friend telling a lie for the first time. It took me for a loop, I still need to follow up with shoulder pads and rollers like you have.

Do Jehovah God wants and desires for ALL individuals from ALL races and ALL countries to come to repentance? To a Calvinist if someone decides to reject the Gospel/Truth , since God would ALWAYS want him to do EXACTLY that which he just has set his heart/mind to do, therefore Jehovah God will harden his heart/mind even further as to strengthen his resolve. Here is where SCRIPTURAL speaking we part ways.Why? Because it is both CONTRARY to God's character and CONTRARY to Jesus Christ statement when he said that Jehovah God is "slow to anger and abounding in LOVE" .God is loving, patient and MERCIFUL just like He was with me when I hardened my heart and God kept trying to reach me for many years until I came to my SENSES (JUST LIKE THE PRODIGAL SON) and decided to TRUST him and be saved.God never gave up on me by allowing for me to get worst in my hardened condition, then he healed my heart/mind and now my heart is as soft as silk. Since Jehovah God sincerely wants ALL to come to repentance and to TRUST in Him then obviously He has to be patient to do so because no two people are alike. If we as human parents are patient with our OWN children when they are stubborn and don't want to listen then obviously God WHO's patience is greater than ours would do the same.2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering [PATIENT] to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” If one of my kids start using drugs and don't want to listen to me the last thing in my mind would be to turn my back on him and leave him by himself to indulge in drugs to his own delight (by ignoring his condition and chosen path and by allowing him to get as many DRUGS as he desires I would be STRENGTHENING him on his OWN resolve) and to his own demise by strengthening him on his own resolve. If a loving mother (regardless if she is a Christian or an unbeliever because when it comes to our own children LOVE no matter how we slice it is LOVE) will NEVER EVER STOP TRYING to persuade her son from doing that which WILL cost him his life then why would Jehovah God be willing to stop reaching a soul just because that soul has chosen to harden his heart/mind to a point that his spirit has become numb to the things of God?. We CAN NOT put LIMITS to the PATIENCE, MERCY and LOVE of Jehovah God nor to the POWER of his Gospel of salvation as to suit our own human understanding of how we might think a SOVEREIGN God should act in X or Y situation. Let Jehovah God define His own terms and His own conditions and if He have NOT defined X or Y concepts within those terms and conditions then please DON'T try to put words into God's mouth which He has NOT spoken through His Holy Bible. Can ANYONE prove (with the Bible) that Jehovah God will NOT be willing to have MERCY and SAVE someone who Jehovah God himself have hardened his heart/mind if afterward that person is willing to personally accept his spiritual condition and ASK for God's mercy? Is Jehovah's God hardening of someone heart/mind an irreversible SPIRITUAL DEATH SENTENCE and an ETERNAL condemnation? I highly doubt that Jehovah God will be inclined to turn His back on someone JUST because He/God himself have hardened his heart and because he is NOT one of His elects. So you see, it is not so easy to KNOW how God would react in X or Y situation, God sometimes will surprises us by doing things His own way without consulting us first (GEE , who would have known that God would do things without consulting Calvinists first) and will do things in His way even when it doesn't make sense to us. As I pointed out before, when it comes to Jehovah God things are not so dry and cut. To say that God will ALWAYS leave someone by himself as to keep walking towards a precipice (by ALWAYS I mean that God , in every case someone hardens his heart and God chooses to harden his heart even more, will ALWAYS arrive to the SAME conclusion, will apply the SAME verdict and will ALWAYS make the SAME decision) just because that someone has hardened his heart (and on top of it Jehovah God is willing to strengthen his resolve by hardening his heart even farther) and wants to fall into that precipice is just illogical. Just because God hardened Pharaoh's heart/mind even farther from the point that was ALREADY hardened it does not imply that God will do the same with All of those who hardens their hearts as Pharaoh did. Jehovah God deals with people as individuals and will treat a condition which someone is in differently from ANOTHER person who is in the same exact condition. With Jehovah God things are not so cut and dry! His ways are not our ways. Who knows how many people, who have hardened their hearts EXACTLY as Pharaoh did, God have CHOSEN NOT to harden their hearts even further and have come (through different means which Jehovah God has provided to ALL people , like the GOSPEL, as to DRAW them to Christ) to repentance and are now SAVED. God ALWAYS have a reason and a purpose for doing things because He doesn't do things ARBITRARILY. In Pharaoh's case the purpose was to show His might and POWER to Pharaoh and to let Pharaoh know that Jehovah God is the ONLY and TRUE God, just like He did with Nebuchadnezzar by humiliating him when God made him eat grass like an ox. That is why I ALWAYS say "in the case of an all loving, merciful and mighty Jehovah God things are NOT as easily defined as in "ONE FORMULA FITS ALL". The problem with man is that he wants to bring God to his SMALL fragile world and limited mind as to be able to box Jehovah God into a man made type of SYSTEM (REFORM THEOLOGY) where things are dry and cut and where God MUST perform as the SYSTEM stipulates and if NOT then God is NOT fully sovereign over His creation. In other words, Calvinists need to teach Jehovah God what is the true MEANING of sovereignty and HOW to be sovereign over all His creation. Ex. just because God dealt with Joe in a certain way, who had a special spiritual condition which needed to be addressed, then to a Calvinist God MUST deal with Pete (who have the same exact condition as Joe) in the same exact MANNER He dealt with Joe. God hardened Pharaoh's heart for an specific purpose (to show God's power and to set free His people) and reason (Pharaoh's have ALREADY hardened his own heart/mind) and NOT because Pharaoh was not one of God's elect (elected for SALVATION), SORRY but salvation has NOTHING to do with God choosing someone in a SPECIFIC situation to be a vase of wrath or a vase of blessing and for God's glory! We can't claim to know that God have dealt in the same EXACT manner with ALL those people whose heart/minds were in the exact condition as Pharaoh. Why?, because UNLESS the Holy Scriptures CLEARLY and IRREFUTABLY states that Jehovah God will ALWAYS deal with those people in the same exact manner He dealt with Pharaoh we are NOT to believe OTHERWISE. I ALWAYS will believe what the Holy Scriptures says and will ALWAYS ignore and treat as GARBAGE any doctrinal teachings inspired by non-authoritative sources (NOT APOSTLES) and coming from outside the Holy scriptures which tend to teach that which the Holy Scriptures have NOT said and which CONTRADICTS what it says . That is why we non-Calvinists and non Arminians are called Bible believing Christians. We don't follow a man made Reformed System of Theology derived from a PRIVATE interpretation of the Holy Scriptures by X or Y men which CONTRADICTS the doctrinal TRUTHS of Jesus Christ and his chosen apostles. We read the Holy scriptures and believe what it says and NOT what someone else through their own private interpretations and through their own BIAS exegetical process might THINK that it teaches. God bless you.

53:49 Allen really does a great job at misinterpreting Hodge. At the conclusion of the same paragraph, on page 556 and 557, Hodge also states: "Christ, therefore, did not die equally for all men. He laid down His life for His sheep; He gave Himself for His Church. But in perfect consistency with all this, He did all that was necessary, so far as a satisfaction to justice is concerned, all that is required for the salvation of all men. So the Augustinians can join with the Synod of Dort in saying, 'No man perishes for want of an atonement.'" So what he means is, that an Augustinian, or Calvinist, can offer the Gospel Call to anyone, knowing that Christ's sacrifice is effective enough, to save any, many, some, or all; IF they would believe.

John Harris I am relying on the reader of my comment to have watched the video and understand the context, I could/should have explained more. Essentially, what I’m asserting, is that Allen is “plucking” out a statement from Hodge, that he asserts demonstrates that Hodge teaches that “Christ, in fact, did die for the sins of all men”. The excerpt that I included, from the same paragraph, and if you look at the entirety of Hodges work, he clearly believes and teaches in a “specific” atonement. He said: “Christ did NOT die EQUALLY for ALL men, but that He died for His CHURCH/SHEEP.” What Hodge is saying, is that, Christ’ sacrifice, is or would be effective enough in power, to account for one person, or ALL persons........that would believe. Hodge fully understands and teaches, “how” a person can or would believe, in Reformed theology. In short, Christ’ sacrifice COULD accommodate for any that WOULD believe, we just know that all won’t, and His sacrifice is only for those that will/do/did believe. There will be no one in hell, that has had their sins........atoned for, as Allen would assert.

"For this is my blood of the new testament which is shed for MANY (note: not ALL) for the remission of sins" (Matt 26:28). Also the calling goes out into the whole world, but absolutely not everyone hears the message of the gospel

To take this position logically, you would have to believe that Romans 5:19 also means that not everyone dies (only many). But the context of the chapter and of the rest of the Bible shows that many can mean all.
@tonyjames7345
@tonyjames7345 4 жыл бұрын
@@justingatlin9605 the persons made sinners are said to be "many", in opposition to the "one man", by whose disobedience they became so, and because there is an exception of one, even Jesus Christ; and mean all the natural descendants of Adam, who are many, and are so called, to answer to the subjects of justification in the next clause: what they are made sinners by, is "the disobedience of one man, Adam"... So, to take all matters into context, are you saying my brother that all (instead of many) are to be made righteous from the text you have quoted? That there is still the need for the wrath of God to be poured on ALL of us. No, our Christ died and took on the wrath of God for those who believe, (the MANY), but the wrath of God however is still reserved for those who do not believe. If as you say Christ's sacrifice was for all, then it was not a PERFECT and EXACT payment, because many will end up in hell. My Christ paid the exact amount, praise Him.
@justingatlin9605

@@tonyjames7345 You can make that argument, and I am not interested in trying to debate it in a KZfaq thread. My point is pretty narrow: you cannot make the argument from the use of the word many versus all. The word many could refer to all or to some subgroup, so Matthew 26:28 cannot be decisive.

This is the proof that the Old Testament was made obsolete by the New Testament - "Hence Jesus said to them: "Most truly I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but my Father does give you the TRUE bread from heaven.” -- John 6:32 "Certainly, then, there occurs a setting aside of the proceeding commandment on account of its weakness and ineffectiveness.” ”For if the first covenant had been faultless. No place would have been sought for a second." - "But their mental powers were dulled. For to this present day the same veil remains uplifted at the reading of the old covenant, because it is DONE AWAY WITH by means of Christ. In fact, down till today whenever Moses is read, a veil lies upon their hearts." "In his saying "a new covenant" He has made the former one OBSOLETE and growing old is near to vanishing away." ”For the law code, "You must not commit adultery, You must not murder, You must not steal, You must not covet," and whatever other commandment there is, is summed up in this word, namely, "You must love your neighbor as yourself." Love does not work evil to one's neighbour; therefore love is the law's fulfillment." - Verse Numbers… Romans 13:8 + Hebrews 7:18 + 8:13 + 2Corinthians 3.12 “For example, it is written that Abraham acquired two sons, one by the servant girl and one by the free woman; but the one born by the servant girl was actually born in the manner of the flesh, the other by the free woman through a promise. These things stand for a SYMBOLIC DRAMA; for these two women mean two covenants, the one from Mount Si'nai, which brings forth children for slavery, and which is Ha'gar. Now this Ha'gar means Si'nai, a mountain in Arabia, and she corresponds with the world today, for she is in slavery. But the world above is free and she is our mother.” - Galatians l4:21 NOTE - Mount Sinai - (which brings forth children for slavery) - is the mountain at which the Ten Commandments were given to Moses by God

the Greek word translated all in the context of Jesus ransoming for "all" or wanting "all" to come to the knowledge of truth and repentance can also mean all kinds of people within its word usage. But also whom is this ALL with according to the whole of scripture of whom Jesus died for sense Jesus clearly said He died for many and that He took on Human flesh in order to die for Abraham's offspring. Those whom are Abraham's offspring are those whom share in his same Faith towards the Messiah. Galatians 3:7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are the sons of Abraham. Hebrews 2:9-18 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.(whom is this everyone?) 10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their(this is more specific to whom the everyone are) salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. 12 He says, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises.” 13 And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again he says, “Here am I, and the children God has given me.”(these are the everyone Jesus tasted death for being the pioneer of their salvation being made perfect/glorified by suffering death) 14 Since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity so that by his death He might break the power of him who holds the power of death-that is, the devil- 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. (so Jesus on behalf of those whom Father would give Him to be atoned in His death shared in their humanity) 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason HE had to be made like THEM ,fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that He might make atonement for the sins of the people.(these people/everyone are Abraham's descendants) 18 Because He himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted. So when Jesus said He died for everyone it was specifically for the offspring of Abraham that He shared in the humanity of those planned to be Drawn by Father and Given to Jesus for atonement through Faith in the Gospel Message. And the Offspring of Abraham are children of Promise reckoned through Isaac following after the same Faith as Abraham Romans 9:7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned."......... ROMANS 9:8-13 In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.For this was how the promise was stated: “At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son.” 10 Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. 11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad-in order that God’s purpose in election/choice might stand: 12 not by works but by him who calls(Spiritually through the Gospel 2Th2:13-14,) she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated So The children of promise being abrahams true offspring through Faith are reckoned through Isaac by being unconditionally elected in order to be Called unto salvation by God through the work of the Spirit and the Truth by the Gospel in which the elect Preach. And all those predestined to be Abraham's offspring were giving to Jesus by Father to die for so in drawing them(John 6:44) to Jesus we are granted to come, repent (2 Tim 2:25)and believe(Eph2:8,Heb 12:2 Phill 1:29) in order to be imputed Jesus' justification/ righteousness through Repentance and Faith as a Merciful Gift through God's free Grace/unconditional favor because were chosen to be Baptized by the Spirit IN Christ through Conversion being set apart in the womb to be Called Spiritually through the Gospel (Galatians 1:15) Embracing anything contrary to God's plan of salvation and a gospel that leads one to believe that all can be saved is a self-condemned message towards the one whom by unrepentance chooses to embrace it

Jesus caused sin to die on the cross. The law was to know sin. We know physically what sin is. The thing about we have a changed heart when we get know Christ. Our flesh doesn't understand how we don't have sin, because we are not subject to the law of God in the flesh , but the spirit man knows. That is what is changed.

Another way how a question can be asked and we get different answers. Did Christ bear the sins of all people, was the inequity of all men laid on Christ ? Yes, is the answer, otherwise the atonement would not be sufficient for all. However if we ask the question did Christ satisfied for all, did he pay the penalty for all people ? Absolutely not, because the payment had a condition, faith. So the payment was made solely for all those that would come to faith. The satisfaction of Christ was made in view of the application of the atonement, there is no satisfaction without application. David Allen makes a mistake when he says that the atonement does not save the elect at the cross. Yes it does, Hebrews many times mentions that the perfect sacrifice of Christ secured the salvation of man, it secured the salvation of all men that will come to faith. But our salvation is based on Christ work on the cross and not on our repentance and faith, which merely receives the salvation won by Christ.

Did Christ die for Judas ? No. Did he die for Pharaoh ? No. From this perspective the atonement is limited. Now if the question is did Christ die for Judas that had Judas repented and believed he would be saved ? Yes if the question is asked that way, Christ died for Judas. Again totally confused what is the difference between limited and unlimited atonement ?

I like Dr. Allen, I do agree with what he says. However, it is not clear to me the difference between limited and unlimited atonement. Did Christ die for all sinners ( universal extent) with the intent to save all who believe ? The answer is yes. But how is this an unlimited atonement ? If the intent is to save all those who believe, then the atonement is limited. Christ could not have possibly satisfied for all if the intent is to save those who believe ? The satisfaction is sufficient for all, based on its sufficiency the atonement is unlimited. However because there is a condition, faith, the satisfaction is only for believers. The satisfaction of Christ is based on foreseen faith, Christ did not satisfy for anybody apart from faith, the atonement was designed so that it would be applied by faith. So the atonement is solely for believers. Arminians would also agree with this, so I am unclear how limited and unlimited atonement differ.

Enjoyed listening to this. I am convinced that you CANNOT cover everything in any presentation. Much more needs to be discussed. Just a suggestion: Questions should be asked using a microphone. I cannot understand the questions asked. May Father richly bless you.

What a filthy liar! He cut out Isaiah 53:11-12 where Isaiah quantifies who the 'all" is, and it's the "many" He made righteous. He bore the sins of "many". "Many" cannot mean "everyone". Therefore the "all" is not everyone. How convenient for a heretic like Allen to leave those verses out. He's nothing but a charlatan liar and deceiver. He also lies about 1 Timothy 2:4, which is referring to men of "all" kinds from "all" walks of life. He also lies and takes out of context 2 Peter 3:8-9 which is referring to the "beloved" for which He is "not willing that any should perish". All the while, v.7 clearly states GOD is reserved the ungodly for fire and perdition. Allen is just another typical heretic distorting the Scripture for his own selfish and illogical nonsense. Liberty University has the most stupid teachers. What a waste of money to go to Liberty University - a den of heresy.

Total depravity is Total inability to accept the cross, so TD is false. David Allen is not the person I had hoped he was when I started watching this video. I am finding I am rejecting most of what he says as we get into the last half hour of question taking.
