I’m a casting instructor and had a more advanced caster ask me to show him this. I did and referred him to this video if he forgot. 👍

What's the purpose of having a lot of line laying on the surface while casting ?

These are the three main knots I use. As you say Tom they're all you need to know.

One of the most important things i got from this video is, you always have to suck on these knots..

Great video, but if you added Lindsay Simpson from Scotland as a 4th, it would be even better. 👍

I’m confused. Why a beautiful video production and I mean beautiful to tell a story of destruction? It appears you chose a path. Go live your life and we will too.

you should definitely add the Davy Wotton . Clinch knot is no good for fishing little flies, too clunky. If I am fishing anything smaller than a fourteen ( which is most of the time) it is a DW knot every time. Any dries smaller than a 14 also get the DW.

You are paying for that “convenience” at time of purchase. I’m quite sure Orvis has built in replacement cost. I’m sure they know when the rod goes out of the store they will be replacing/repairing it 2.5 times over life of it.

Are you using a skagit or a skandi head or is that regular fly line on the single hand rod? I’ve tried single handed spey casting with regular fly line and I make a mess of it

Very powerful video. It brought a tear to my eye. I recently went on a guided fly fishing trip. At some point in the day, I turned to the guide and said, "there's just something therapeutic about this". He then told me that he volunteers, taking veterans with PTSD out on the river. That, and this video have shown me how powerful the therapy is. I'm so happy the kid in the video pursued becoming a guide. He has so much to offer!
