I drove accross that railroad bridge before it was rehabbed. No guard rail and 2x12 planks only where your tires go. Park service hadn’t taken it over and you could climb anywhere into the buildings. Climbed on top of the asbestos covered boilers and looked through paperwork in the offices from 1930s. Amazing.

I watched you guys in McCarthy, the Keys and everything in between. What a life you two live. No doubt it isn't all fun and games but man what a life. On a different note, what do you think about this humidity we have almost all year long? Especially you Julie, with what it does to long hair.
@NickandJulie
@NickandJulie 10 күн бұрын
We think the same thing sometimes. Just in awe and amazement that this is our life. And in our opinion, if you’re in awe of your life, you’re living it right. And it’s all credit and glory to God because we’re nothing special. And yes, it’s not all fun and games but that stuff is minor. This lifestyle is a lot more unpredictable than a ‘normal’ one but that’s caused us to put our trust in God in those sticky situations out of our control and He came through every time. It’s been cool to witness. But with the humidity, I’m okay with it. It does make my hair poofy/ frizzy. My skin loves it though. Back in Ohio, it would get really dry in winters but here, I’ve had no problems with that! I know the humidity can be hard on some people.

If you have tinted windows, lower them all so the border guard can easily see the interior of your vehicle. Before you cross the border, make sure you know what's in your vehicle and maybe clean it up. Don't give the border guard a reason to search a dirty and/or messy vehicle.

Why do you mispronounce it as Ninilchooook? We live here in Alaska. It’s called Ninilchik, and pronounced Ninilchik, ending like “chick.” NOBODY pronounces it here the way you do. How would you like us to go to your home and rudely mispronounce your hometown’s name? Is this how you visit other places and have no regard for the locals?
@NickandJulie

Just curious. Did you actually talk to anyone in town, or did you do a hit and run drone and video session and drive to Homer? If you talked to anyone about the town, and got the rich history you recant from a local, you would have never mispronounced it…been in the TV for decades on both sides of the camera: You were not skewered…😂

I know you dramatize what happens to try to get views but at the same time if you thought that you was in danger, put the camera away and help paddle that would help keep you off the rocks if you was helping paddle also
@NickandJulie
@NickandJulie 18 күн бұрын
It seems that way. I believe we were already on the rocks when I pulled the phone out to film the few seconds on the rocks before putting it away to get back on the kayak. I was paddling too and it didn’t help the surf and wind pushed us on them. The entire paddling from where we were back to the kayak launch site took about 45 minutes. Thank God the wind and surf was in the direction we were paddling back otherwise not sure how long we would be struggling out there trying to fight the wind and surf. Probably wouldn’t be able to and would be pushed into the middle or other side of the lake at best judging from how we both weren’t able to fight it to stay off the rocks. I was only able to get a few minutes of that 45 minutes on video between paddling. I didn’t want to even take the time to do that but made myself do it figured if we did make it out I’d kick myself for not getting any footage at all. Yes, for KZfaq since that is what we do. Thankful to God he kept us safe and everything turned out okay despite our dumb decision to go out there that day. If the wind and surf were going in the opposite direction- I can’t even think about what could have happened. This was a situation where you know you’re in danger and you’re this close 🤏to things going very wrong and you try to focus and stay calm despite the panic which I think we did a good job of. I appreciate the comment it gives me perspective of what the viewer watching might be thinking. I can see how it looks that way.
