I'm American and an English history buff. Thank you for this video giving virtually everything there is to know about Whitehall. I had no idea #10 was part of Whitehall and look forward to that video!

I have visited the chapel a couple of times and l just love that this very quiet corner of Suffolk contains this jewel of a late medieval chapel and the story of one of the markets episodes in Englands history. I have always thought the inscription over the door is very telling. I have never seen its equivalent elsewhere. Incidentally, one of Tyrell’s ancestors is the man who shot William Rufus in a hunting ‘accident’. Rufus is widely believed to have been gay…

Yay!! One I know! Burton Dassett sits on a tremendous hill looking like its carved from soft brown sugar. If you are stood at the bottom you are all too aware that the burials at the top are above the level of your head. Amazing Norman door on the south side, and a holy well nearby Extremely atmospheric and kind of creepy on a dark and rainy day

I'm going to be curmudgeonly. The gem-like quality of your videos comes from how you describe things and put it into context. A drone shot, of however magnificent a building, doesn't reach that standard. Please narrate! (Also, we've just put a drive to Snettisham into the diary for next week. So there's that...)
@allanbarton3 күн бұрын
At least I’ve encouraged you to visit. 😂 This was a short I made for instagram, I thought it would be interesting to see how it did here.
@dizwell3 күн бұрын
@@allanbarton Well, it did its job for sure. But please narrate, even if short-ly!! That's definitely where the true value-add is, IMHO anyway.

@@heycidskyja4668 No it doesn't and I've explained why in some detail (context, history). Anodyne one-liners are just bad motivational poster material, not actually insightful. But thanks for playing.

@dizwell I love these shorts with simply music (especially beautiful music such as this one) There isn't much time to narrate in a short other than the name of the place anyway. For the rest: bum on seat, crack your fingers and set Google into action ! 😁 Honestly doing research is so easy these days (don't know if you knew the days of traipsing to libraries but it was something else!) You don't have to be spoon-fed everything for Heaven's sake!

Are there any artists who take images of these types of paintings and “restore” them on canvas, I wonder. These particular paintings are still fantastic, but it would be amazing to theorize their original appearance.

I'm not against the British monarchy, I just don't believe in monarchy as a form of government. I think that in the age in which we live monarchies, as much as religion, are things we should let go as they belong in the past and is high time we understand and accept that. We should know better by now. However, I enjoy art and I deeply respect the skill and the dedication those artisans devote to maintain those jewels and the memory they perpetuate.
