Why do you only have 2 a piece of each fish in your tank when almost every other fish you have in your tank minus the betta require to be in schools of 6-8 minimum. Not 6-8 random fish together..?

So what happened to the previous one was I removed it to clean it and during the process I cracked the collection cup. It was totally my fault. I tried to squeeze a toothbrush in a space too tight for it to fit, and CRACK. I might have been able to contact the company for a new cup. But instead I just ordered a whole new unit and kept the original unit as a backup.

Honestly I’ve never looked. I assume you could probably find something on Amazon or maybe Etsy. It would most likely have to be laminated to prevent the water from ruining it though. The biggest challenge might be attaching it somehow.

It’s sufficient for the tank. You may need to clean it. If that doesn’t work you could swap it with a Sicce Syncra Silent 1.5.

interesting way to do this mod. I just got a new Fluval 15 and did something similar. I did not go as far as to take the whole back wall out. I used a (for metal / plastic) hacksaw blade. Took off both of those pieces and used sand paper to smooth it out. I have another established F15 in stock form. For filtration i use a course pad that covers the passage way to center area. I do not use the Fluval sponge there. I have a giant bag of bio media in there. for the new one my idea is in the first chamber i am going to put in a sponge filter run by airstone and a course pad cover as above. Same for Biomedia in bag in center.

Yeah I just got mine today and it was overflowing and I’m like how do you get it right you know I want my water level just like that
@everydayfishhobbyist8281
@everydayfishhobbyist8281 10 ай бұрын
Ok so here a tip. The top grey adjust knobby the collection cup, if you adjust that knob to the point that it’s basically closed and you are still overflowing then you need to adjust the control down by the pump. Close that valve a little bit and then go back to the top control and try to get that water level in the skimmer dialed in. You may have to go back and forth making adjustments until you get it. Also a consistent water level in your tank is very important. You may have to adjust the water level in your aquarium up or down as well. Hope this info helps.

Your mod certainly upgrades the filter. Is there any need for this filter at all? could it not just be removed and an internal filter placed in one corner, giving more room within the tank. That back filter does reduce the useable capacity.
@everydayfishhobbyist8281
@everydayfishhobbyist8281 Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can absolutely remove the back wall completely and expand the display environment. As you mentioned there are many internal filter options available that could be used. I think a Sicce Shark would work well and you can pick one up for around $40. Thanks for the comment!

I recently just said hell with the filtration system, gutted it and did a dark green acrylic background, just going to run it off a nice aquatop sponge, and go rimless with it, i want every bit of 14-15 gallons but after i put a deep substrate on it, i may only get 13-14 G... that resivoir is huge, but best thing is the resivoir came out so easily in one peice which is really nice if i ever want to put it pack in... 😀 a good quality sponge filter and more importantly maintenancing it the right way, that is key🔑 very very important 👌 and i like to give my sponges a good, high powered air pump aswell, but honestly 3d printer's are so good for fiskeeping bc you can make anything for fishtanks,hides, doors, knobs whatever 😊 its endless, i would like to make like brown 3d printed botanicals pods and stuff that looks real for hides for little loaches... like a log with tons and tons of holes so khuli loaches can get together and have a party in lol

So happy to find this video. I have had this tank for 14 months and have made MANY mistakes. Finally, I have been able to add livestock! Persistent problems with algae however, so I brought a wave maker, too, in hopes more movement in the water will help. I am also concerned about the lighting. I still have the stock light, but wondering if I should upgrade. Any suggestions?
@everydayfishhobbyist8281
@everydayfishhobbyist8281 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments. I am still running the stock lighting myself, however we added a Nicrew timer I found on Amazon, that you can program to ramp up or down as you choose. We have no corals yet so no need to upgrade it just yet. As far as your algae issue, cutting back on the light a bit might help. Adding hermit crabs are also a suggestion. We currently have 6 hermits. 3 blue, and 3 red. As well as a rather large emerald crab. Does your tank get a substantial amount of direct sunlight throughout the day? That could also be a factor.
@lisameier1536
@lisameier1536 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for responding so quickly....I have an emerald crab, 2 hermits and 2 snails. No shrimp. The tank is away from direct sunlight. I have resorted to putting the stock light on the blue light most of the day and the bright light only 1 to 2 hrs in the afternoon. That seems to be helping, but that algae is relentless!

It was stirred up a bit from me just doing a small water change, cleaning the glass, and I usually stir up the substrate a little bit as well. It looks worse on camera than it actually was. It’s also opposite of a large window.
