What camera did you use to get the amazing footage of the night sky as I'm planning to create a channel and do some timelapses
@timelapse71322 күн бұрын
It's a GoPro 11 Black. It has a setting called "Star Trails". Good luck with your channel. Hopefully you'll have better luck than me for subscribers. I just hit 300....after about 5 years of doing this almost daily. But it's a turn it on, let it run, turn it off, load to YT and repeat.

is there maybe some text to go with it? are those clouds the normal thing, does the farm still produce things, is life good for you is it a typical day and are the next 366 (til 2/28) no different? it is no criticism, just wondering. or just aesthetics.
@timelapse7132 ай бұрын
Interesting questions. No text to go with it. Just a video of how this particular day looked outside. It was just a cloudy day. Cold front came through on 2/28 and brought the clouds. Not every day is like this (watch some of the other videos). I prefer partly cloudy days so you can see the formation and movement of the clouds. Life is good for me. Thanks for asking. Hope all is well for you.

I would, but I run regular time lapse during the day and then switch it over to star trails in the evening. Plus, I have to give the camera a break. The Houston heat for these daytime time lapses is brutal. 95 degrees and direct sunlight. That is why some of the day videos get split into 2 parts....because the camera over heats.
@kainuisocean7 ай бұрын
Nice clip, Charlie! Nice to see the GoPro has that cool feature. The rest of us have to create this in post! I also liked that your clip had control over the white balance, keeping it around 3k, and how lucky to have no wind! Fun stuff, and I'm glad to see you are enjoying this style of photography, it is still very new to many and few understand the work you have to put into getting good clips like this! Well done! I'm subscribed!
@timelapse7137 ай бұрын
Thanks for the subscription. I'm not limited to Houston time lapses. I have some from Austin, TX, and some from when I get to travel by air. It's the software on the GoPro. I used to do a lot more editing before the features came standard. Now it's copy/paste from the microSD card to the PC and upload it to YT. It doesn't take me much time, would be nice to have a quicker upload speed. But hey, I enjoy doing it and hope others enjoy it too. You can search by date to see how it looked. I only missed a few days here and there over a couple years (camera down, driving trips, etc).
@timelapse7137 ай бұрын
My issue isn't pixelization....it would overheat and turn off. I have it plugged into an outlet. I already lost 1 camera because i had the battery in it and it overheated and expanded. Lesson learned.
@kainuisocean7 ай бұрын
@@timelapse713 Ah! But wait. The expanded battery is from over charging (done it myself on 10 different things!) but that is not overheating of the camera. If you are not shooting more than 15 sec and have about 2-3 on interval, it should stay cool. Only if you got bright dots in the image (usually red spots in my experience) do you have a hot sensor. It usually takes a 5 minute exposure to get that hot.
@timelapse7137 ай бұрын
Interesting. All I know is it would get really hot and just shut off on its own. Then I would get the battery swelling.

The return of blue skies...priceless. As the day descends to evening, there is a special treat at the end of this video; so glad that it was recorded.
@timelapse7137 ай бұрын
I hope that all the daytime videos get recorded all the way through. It's really hot and the sun can really heat the camera up and it turns off on its own. I have it under the patio and cover it with white paper to shield some of the sun, but the lens part might be what is getting hot.
@timelapse7137 ай бұрын
Did you also notice how the leaves on the plant in front of the camera wilt throughout the day then come back to life as the sun starts going down?
@ThymeBottle7 ай бұрын
@@timelapse713 Oh, yes, I did notice those leaves and was thinking of my own Mulberry tree out front, drooping in this heat wave; they do seem to perk up when the evening arrives.

@@timelapse713 Your videos are fascinating to watch. I love seeing the changing patterns and colors of clouds, the periods of sunlight, and the sun and moon. When I am less busy, I hope to watch more of them. You obviously take great care with your equipment, and it is good that you have thought to put the camera under the shade. Another fantastic capture. These star trails are so fascinating. These remind me of the meteor showers I saw in my very younger days in West Texas and New Mexico. By the way, we had an observatory on our New Mexico school playground, and every so often they would open it up for the public to go inside to see the telescope and how it operated.
