At 3:07, for me the belt plane just floats too far above the curve as opposed to drirectly on it like in the video here. I don't know what I did wrong. Tried applying scale on both objects and it still didn't work. Weird. Can't follow through with this tutorial as a result.

I'm a beginner in 3D modelling. I wish you'd explain your reasonings whilst showing us how to do things. As it stands I don't understand why you're duplicating so many things when you could have achieve the same results by modelling on the same object

I suggested a solution to the Blender devs: What if users can hit W when they hover their cursor over the edge of a viewport (which turns the cursor into crosshairs). So that, instead of dragging and hoping to delete/create a window, what if the shortcut/hot key (W on cursor-turned-crosshairs) opens a window showing the viewports that are open, and users can add/delete viewports in that popup window, then press ESC to close the window. Would that be a convenient solution?

Cool! You don't have to apply the modifiers also before you add mesh to volume, it will work like that and makes it more editable
