For me, it felt I fell into St. Teresa of Avila, and St. John of the Cross by accident, life lost all meaning and began a new understanding of Christ Himself. That was three decades ago and remains today.

such a beautiful place, very beautiful pictures and way of life. I love the Carmelites so dearly. Cradle catholic from birth but did not follow any particular path until my late teens and then once again and I whole heartedly believe St Therese instilled yet another person the Love of Carmel and the deep love of Jesus and the Blessed mother. I did not enter Carmel and I keep falling back and then every time I know, because I hear in side me a gentle call to come on back. So I always look straight to Carmel and my saints of course 1 being St. Therese. My other saint is St Bernadette. And even when I seem to fall away I still always have a very deep love for Our Blessed mother.

Such a peaceful place. I was blessed to work for the Carmelite nuns for 3 years. From age 15 to 18. There was a nursing home in St Charles Missouri run by them. It was actually named The Carmelite home. I was not catholic but I learned more about peace and love and patience in those 3 short years than any other time in my life. I am now 61 and still think lovingly upon all 11nuns and priest that lived there.

Hi Ged! Don't know if you'd read this but just like to say I found these interviews really interesting, and a big thank you for your support whilst I was in hospital. This is Alice by the way :) Just to say I've been out of hospital for more than 4 months now and I'm doing well. Anyway I hope you are doing OK too. God Bless.

I was there today. It is a beautiful place. Very tranquil and welcoming. Even if you are not religiously minded (which I admit I am not) I would recommend a visit here for a place to think and put everything into perspective. Try to stay for at least half an hour if you can, it does not suit a quick look around and camera clicking.
