The coolest thing about the 2022 Prizm 1/1 Mbappe was that it was a "parking lot pull". The person that pulled it got it from a blaster at a big box retail store not long after release day & opened the box in their car. What a stroke of divine luck! 🤩🔥⚽

With your guy’s name and especially your accents and where you’re from you guys should have built in legitimacy for soccer cause for me being a American I would definitely trust that you guys know your shit when it comes to soccer over American sellers unless it’s MLS, but cmon MLS is shite. Wish I could make it to meet up and have at least 5 beers with you guys and shoot the shit but it is not in the cards this year but you guys will do just fine!! I bought a box of Serie A Select yesterday off Panini and it was the first hobby box I’ve bought at release in awhile. With so many of the releases these days, you can wait and it will drop over time. That may very well be the case for this, too, but given the shorter print run based off the analysis I saw online and the fact that the highest # parallel is a /49 as opposed to a /499 or some madness, I wanted to make sure we had a box. I figure if prices drop that’s just an excuse to buy some more and cost average down. A few reasons I bought it: our kids are big Pulisic fans (USA listener here) and thought it would be fun to rip a box with him in the AC Milan kit. Also, the low print run is attractive - I know we almost certainly lose money opening it, but it’s refreshing to have a chance at hitting a few low numbered or unique cards. Finally, I do like Select - 2015 to 2017 is my jam, but I enjoy some of these newer releases, too. Anyways, thanks for covering the product and wish us luck when it arrives. Keep up the great podcast!

With regards to people making offers on items you've listed - the most annoying question I find is the opening line to a conversation, 'What's the lowest you'll do for that' etc. Like at least have the decency to actually put a number on the table rather than expect me to immediately come of my listing price. Feel a lot of the time people want to feel like they've got a steal rather than actually getting whatever they're buying - they like the idea of getting a one up on somebody else.

Have you guys heard about the 2017 TC design base cards you can find in this years’ product ? Supposedly you can send them in and get an on card auto ? Or did I just dream that ? I swear I’ve read this somewhere… 🤔

Thanks for the Borussia Dortmund Vernissage set preview. I have opened a few boxes. The cards are printed on 55 pt stock and the card art, at least to my eye, is quite nice. The five magnum opus cards are reproductions of artist Alieu Sawaneh’s paintings. A cut above the usual single team sets.

As always great podcast! Much love from Nebraska! Question for the lads (after the rant haha.) Comps. I'm so tired of people always using comps as the only way to price a card. Obviously looking at previous sales will help set a price, however if said player has performed spectacularly throughout the year and all the "comps" were from me purchasing the cards early on in the season, or before anyone really started paying attention do they really matter? At the end of the day, the card(s) are in my possession so I have the final say but for fucks sake can people chill out with always using comps, especially the guys saying "I'll give you 70%." My go to has been to counter any ridiculous offer at a penny less of my asking price just to spread the love, all on eBay. How do you guys handle situations like this, especially on very low pop cards?

Great Podcast. As you touched upon during the podcast, I can understand the lack of licences in the Euro Sets - however, I find it bizarre how the artwork hasn't been chosen to better hide it as in the case of the Topps Wemby. Seems like they're shooting themselves in a foot a bit. Also, as Enzo said, why not place greater focus with inserts/auto pairs on the teams with licencing?

I love hearing random thoughts from the two of you and imagining that someone joins the podcast at that very moment and don't have any context as to what you're talking about. Today's example: Jason's response to Enzo saying that Twitter is just a bunch of porn links, "Yeah, it's just a bunch of snuff films and stuff" (Of I recall hearing that correctly 😂). Imagine that being the first thing you hear when tuning into "Soccer Cards United". 😳🤔😂

Enzo you are correct that the reason for Series 1 and Series 2, (and also "Update Series") is so that Topps can capture the many new rookies that get called up from the minor leagues to the big leagues throughout the duration of the baseball series. Series 2, usually isn't "as different" from Series 1, however, Update Series is more sought after than Series 2, as Update usually puts more of a focus on the hot new rookies. (For example, Mike Trout's famous rookie card that is considered his True Rookie, is from Update Series release). It's done so that Topps can spread out the release of their flagship product (Series 1 and Series 2), and likely profit off splitting the release into two separate products and release dates for hype etc. (as both are their flagship product), but also due to the nature of baseball, many many many players do get called up at various times throughout the season, and it's a high enough volume that instead of waiting for the following year's product for a rookie who was called up half way through the season... the RC card becomes available more quickly in the actual calendar year that the player is playing due to their delayed releases of Series 2 and Update Series.

Such a good episode !! Vintage SCU deep dive into pros and cons of upcoming products/licenses. I have to say I’m disappointed with the latest Chrome releases… quality has been terrible in 23/24 so far (I still hope that’s not the case with this year’s UEFA CC set). However, I think it’s gonna be interesting how the rookie game plays out with Chrome taking over the Premier League. It might even hurt their UEFA sales if future rookies end up coming out in their future PL sets first (kinda what happened with Haaland’s rookie with their 2019 Chrome sets). All in all, great episode lads ! I agree seating eggs have it much worse than seating ducks, Enzo ! Haha !
