I also started with straps and moved later on to boots. nowadays, when doing wakestyle I even find it scary doing the tricks with straps. Also find it harder to control the take-off with straps. I much rather prefer the hard impacts with boots :D

I realised that you are using very small fins on the asylum. I just bought the asylum v5 and waiting for delivery. I also ride with boots. Do you recommend changing the stock fins to smaller ones? My current board (Clash Reincarnation 2.1) also uses these 20mm fins.

I've certainly learned some things here ~ I shall watch this over and over as I'm very committed to learning this sport. At the moment I've got a nice NC Beach all to myself except for an occasional guy or two and I wait till they are done before I go out often. Rarely are we out at the same time and I go off to be by myself when that happens. In this sport things happen very fast and get out of control quickly. Already I've seen so much and been so fortunate when having my crisis on the water. The learning curve is real and it's really dangerous without the professional instructor in the beginning. Been at the learning phase for much longer because of my age ~72 ~ now and started by moving from the Big Island where there are not really ANY beginner learning spots. Location location location and special equipment and people all required for the first few years. Used equipment is fine and learning to repair the stuff is very good because the equipment breaks and tears. Great tips in the comment section as well ~Thanks for the tips !! Aloha ~
