Hi Nikki. I'm so sorry that you're not feeling well, and that your eye is bothering you. I remember going to Crystal Cave as a child. Your hydrangeas are beautiful. We have them as well. That's so cool. You went to the JT concert! Did you love it? You just answered my question! Great video, Nikki❣️😘❤️

Thanks Rene. ♥️ Yeah, I really don't know what's going on with me lately. 🤷🏻‍♀️ That's cool you were at Crystal Cave before! I hadn't been there since I was so little! It was still interesting but things didn't look as big as they once did. 😂 I have to take Greg there one day, I think he'd like it. Justin was very fun! I was a fan since the NSYNC days so it was crazy to get to see him. And so close - Hershey - I couldn't pass it up! Hope you're having a good weekend and are feeling well! ♥️

Hi! Well, the basics I would suggest is to up the salt if your blood pressure is low, be sure to stay hydrated and maybe look into compression stockings (they help stop the blood pooling in your legs). There are medications that you can use to raise your blood pressure and help slow your heart rate if that's an issue. But of course you gotta check with your doctor about that cause everyone is very different.

Hey there - interesting to see that you have a vegan channel. We both have the same namesake, and he features very strongly in this interesting story below. I'm not a vegan, I did try - but there are reasons I need high protein diet. But this is a stunning vegan recipe - and the days I eat it (which is regularly), I do pretty much avoid all animal products. WORLDS BEST PASTA SAUCE Fear not foodies, the world’s best pasta sauce has been found and it's much-loved by some of the biggest names in cooking. Created by the late Italian-American food writer Marcella Hazan, the ‘world’s best’ pasta sauce is as simple as recipes come, meaning it’s also good for people’s pockets too as it's far cheaper than many store bought products. Marcella, who opened a New York cookery school during her illustrious career, was also the writer of numerous cookbooks, with her pasta sauce recipe found here. In the Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking, the writer advises using only three ingredients; tinned tomatoes, an onion and a generous knob of butter. This recipe was first concocted by Marcella in 1992 and is still revered to this day by food writers and cooks alike. Food publication Delish dubbed the sauce "the best in the world." Marcella Hazan posing with her books on April 4, 1983 in New York, New York. The first book I read by Nicholas Sparks (based on recommendation at my online book club) was True Believer (pub. 2005) - it featured this recipe exactly “Are you sure you don’t want me to dice it?” “No. If you do, you’ll ruin the sauce, and I’ll never forgive you.” “Everyone dices the onions. My Italian mother dices the onions.” “Not me.” “So you’re just going to put these big round onions in the sauce?” “No. I’ll cut them in half first.” “Can I at least do that?” “No, thanks. I’d hate to put you out.” She smiled. “And besides, I’m the cook, remember? You just watch and learn. Right now think of yourself as . . . the prep boy.” He glanced at her. Since they’d come in from the cold, the rosiness in her cheeks had faded, leaving her skin with a fresh, natural glow. “The prep boy?” She shrugged. “What can I say? Your mom might have been Italian, but I grew up with a grandmother who tried just about every recipe out there.” “And that makes you an expert?” “No, but it made Doris one, and for a long time, I was the prep girl. I learned through osmosis and now it’s your turn.” He reached for the second onion. “Tell me, then, what’s so special about your recipe? Aside from having onions the size of baseballs, I mean.” She took the skinned onion and sliced it in half. “Well, since your mother was Italian, I’m sure you’ve heard of San Marzano tomatoes.” “Of course,” he said. “They’re tomatoes. From San Marzano.” “Ha, ha,” she said. “Actually, they’re the sweetest and most flavorful of all tomatoes, especially in sauces. Now, watch and learn.” Ignoring him, she poured both cans of tomatoes into the pot, then added a whole stick of butter to the sauce. Jeremy peeked over her shoulder, watching as the butter began to melt. “Looks healthy,” he said. “My doctor always told me I needed extra cholesterol in my diet.” “Did you know you have a tendency toward sarcasm?” “I’ve heard that,” he said, raising his bottle. “But thanks for noticing.” “Are you done with the other onion yet?” “I am the prep boy, aren’t I?” he said, handing it over. She split that one as well before adding all four halves to the sauce. Stirring for a moment with a long wooden spoon, she let it come to a boil, then set the heat on low. “Okay, then,” she said, satisfied, returning to the sink, “we’re done for now. It’ll be ready in an hour and a half.” As she washed her hands, Jeremy peeked into the saucepan, frowning. “That’s it? No garlic? No salt and pepper? No sausage? No meatballs?” She shook her head. “Three ingredients only. Of course, we’ll pour it over linguine and top it with some fresh-grated Parmesan cheese.” “This isn’t very Italian.” “Actually, it is. It’s the way they’ve made it in San Marzano for hundreds of years. That’s in Italy, by the way.”

0:03 Hey Nikki, candles and melts are my thing too, they’re really pretty! I also like the cakes, in the past I’ve made cakes using the egg substitute you get from canned chick peas, and I made my own vegan chocolate to decorate them with; they didn’t look pretty but they tasted really delicious 😂 I’ve also made an oil burner that burns rapeseed oil and use it to heat melts, the only downside is that it can get a bit smoky if you don’t look after it! You have a lovely home, I’m envious 😂 our place is quite small and full of belongings, including my guitars, ukuleles and bass and my wife’s piano and all of her sewing, knitting and crocheting stuff 😂, I’m sure that if we had a bigger place we would soon fill it up 😂. 💖

Are you supposed to whip up the liquid, is that how it's done? 🤔

@@nicktheveganchick yes that’s what you do with the chick pea liquid, it works quite well. You whip it just the same as egg whites and can use it in sponges and for lemon meringues, it’s a great substitute.

17:27 I found this side of you from your reactions channel, I am sad to see that you have a hidden chronic illness, I can sympathise with you completely! I have Fibromyalgia and have done for the past 10 years, I was diagnosed formally last year before that I was so depressed and anxious all of the time it was awful. Initially I was put on painkillers, but when they didn’t work they gave me stronger ones, and when they didn’t work stronger still. When the only further option was Fentanyl I realised that nothing was going to work so I told my doctor it had to stop before they killed me! It took nearly 2 years to get off them completely, the pain levels were no different. Next I was given help to change my mindset and accept the new me and the reality that the pain would never go away. I found it not too difficult to accept things because of how long it had been going on for and that I was still alive and kicking 😂 I’m now 71 still here and don’t intend to pop my clogs yet awhile, I’ve still got a lot of my bucket list to tick off! Some of my bucket list includes going to see some of the bands you’re being introduced to when/if they come to the UK 🤞🏻 I’m interested in why you are vegan, have you always been vegan or is it for your health? Your cook up looks really yummy! I’ve never tried tofu but as I understand it you need to add flavour to it, same sort of thing as Jackfruit really - I add marmite and mixed herbs and tomatoes to it for a nice savoury taste and serve it with buttered pasta. Anyway I’m going on way too much 😂😂😂 I’ve subscribed, maybe I’ll pick up some foodie tips off you! 💖

Hi Darrell, thanks so much for letting me know a little more about you. 😊 I'm sorry to hear that you have health struggles as well but I can understand wanting to take a step back from all the medications and continually trying to find something that could take away the pain. I know it can be frustrating to try so many things without much relief. However, I know acceptance isn't easy either - but sometimes life does get a little easier to handle if you can reach that point, at least most days. I'm glad to hear you have a bucket list! Concerts are always great to have on the list of things to see and do, it really is just a refreshing experience to see a new band. And the ones you guys have been introducing me to? Those would be amazing to see live. 😁 To answer your question about being vegan, I went vegan solely for the purpose of just not wanting to contribute to animals dying. I'm a big animal lover and just couldn't stand the thought of being part of that any longer than I was. I've been vegan for almost 11 years now and was vegetarian before that for 4 years. I feel like nowadays it's easy to be vegan because there are so many vegan alternatives to meat (not to mention just fruits, veggies, rice and beans always being an easy access option!). I thought I would struggle when I first switched from vegetarian to vegan but I didn't and it's really the best decision I ever made. I will have to try your jackfruit combo! I never really experimented too much with that. Tofu has always been my go-to but you're right, it's much better when there's some flavor added to it! Thank you for checking out my channel and of course for supporting my other channel as well. It really means a lot! 💛
@DarrellW_UK

0:13 @@nicktheveganchick I just picked this up, thanks for sharing your vegan reasoning! I’m not vegan or vegetarian but I don’t eat meat that often because it’s better for my digestive system that way. When I do eat meat I don’t eat shop or supermarket meat, I have a small supplier from a smallholder who is organic and free range and who has the philosophy that everything off the animal must be used in respect to it. This is really the only way I can eat meat, the other reason is that I have a tendency to get health problems when I’ve tried to go meat free. We don’t have anything much animal derived in our house or clothing, I see that there are enough alternatives to have instead of them. I think now that you’ve got your other channel and it’s been a bit of an eye opener for you and has given you contact with a great diversity of people and music to appreciate you are correct in paying more attention to it. I think that any channel needs communication with its audience, I just don’t understand why people would view and not comment! I honestly think that this is important to you because it’s personal and very open and contains things that don’t belong on your other channel. Maybe just post when you feel you want to, but don’t make a chore of it. Same really applies to your other channel, your health is more important than anything else. 💖

Cats can live outdoors in pretty much any climate, (even deep snow & below 0 degree F weather), as long as they have some type of shelter. A shed like yours is sufficient shelter. The cat is probably doing fine. In my opinion it's more ethical to leave a stray cat alone unless it visibly needs help : if it's overly skinny, or sick, or has wounds, etc. Keep in mind, if the cat is currently a healthy weight, it may belong to someone! However, it's probably okay to feed stray cats in the middle of winter. Because there's less small animals around for it to catch during the winter. But I wouldn't continue to feed it, unless you want to adopt this cat!
@nicktheveganchick
@nicktheveganchick Жыл бұрын
We would definitely take the cat in (full time) if it warms up to us. It does look like a healthy weight but if it does belong to someone, I feel like they can't care that much about it when it's running the streets, with the risk of getting hit by a car and near woods where there's all sorts of animals that could hurt it. Also, while cats are adaptable, they most definitely are susceptible to hypothermia and frostbite in the cold winter months... I don't know who would leave a cat outside with someone else's shed being their main source of warmth. That just seems cruel. 🤷‍♀ If only it wouldn't be scared of us, it could have a comfortable place to live.

@@nicktheveganchick Not yet, most of this POTS stuff just started a couple months ago. I have a question. My desire not to stand is weird. The longer I stand, the more I want to sit down. And yet I am not having presyncopy. Only one time did my legs tremble. Maybe it feels like my muscles aren't working right? Or I get weaker? Then after a bad time of having to stand too long, I can tremble for the next 24 hours after that. Is that is what it is like for you with POTS and standing?

@@steveswoodworking2504 Hmm it could be that your legs have gotten weaker if you're not able to do as much due to symptoms. For me my legs definitely got weaker over time from losing muscle.
